Welcome!
Welcome to Harry Dresden - wizard! I'm Highlander II, your friendly neighborhood board owner and Harry Dresden afficianado...

The place is just getting started, so pull up a keyboard and take a look around.

Standard rules of netiquette apply - no flames, no spam, no porn (family oriented place here), no offensive materials. Any questions, drop me a line - hghlnder2@hotmail.com .

Why did I create this forum?
-- Well, I wanted someplace to discuss Harry Dresden and the four books - Storm Front, Fool Moon, Grave Peril, and Summer Knight - written by Jim Butcher.

But what about the Mcanally's List?
--It's great! I love Mcanally's! However, it's sometimes hard to follow a discussion on a mailing list. Don't get me wrong, I love mailling lists - belong to a TON of them - but, sometimes a forum is a better medium of discussion. And, since there doesn't seem to be a whole crowd of people jumping into my discussions over at AScifi.com, I decided to try a different route. (And no way am I even trying to knock ASciFi.com - that place is my second home, but it's not geared as much toward books as it is toward tv shows and movies, though the books section is stunning, just other authors are much more popular [kinda hoping to change that one though]!)

Any other questions, just ask and I'll try to answer them.

Please, have a look around, join a discussion or two, and most of all... have fun!

How To Deal With Spoilers
Hey Highlander,
I'm just wondering how we're going to keep people from getting spoiled in the general topics. Right now it isn't really a problem since you and I have both read all four books but eventually someone else is going to come here. :-)

Do you want to set a policy now for spoilers so we can avoid any future problems? Do you want to make it open season on all books except the most current or should people expect that anything goes since most people will either have read the new book or are in the process of reading it and can just avoid reading posts until they have seen it?

This isn't like a tv show where there will be spoilers months in advance. If there are any advance spoilers on any upcoming books that could be a separate topic for posting. Just some thoughts for when you get back from your vacation.

Re: How To Deal With Spoilers
Well, currently, I'm operating under the assumption that if you wander into the thread labeled "Storm Front" - you're expecting to read anything and everything about the book - from 'hey, I really like Harry' to full detailed descriptions and page quotes and such ----

That's just the way I am ---

I am planning to put up a little announcement as a 'warning' that Spoilers for the books will be contained in the threads related to those books ----

However, I could add a thread that is a general description that is a 'spoiler free' discussion thread for each book.

I'm kind of waiting for more ppl to show up first ---

Re: How To Deal With Spoilers
Yeah, with the books it's a given but in the other characters section if I want to talk about a character's development it will be different depending on which books you have read. I just wanted to know if we should put Spoiler space or if it can be assumed that if people are on this board that they are up to date on the books.

Re: How To Deal With Spoilers
Well -

My plan was to hope that ppl here would be 'up to date' -

but - I guess just mention that spoilers may be present - and from there - it's all fair game --

Hi there!
Hi there,
skull here, Bob's residence don'tcha know! Took me a while to get here what with no body an' all. May not be a frequent visitor, Bob tends to hog all the conversation and I don't get a word in edgeways. :) Good of you to put my pic up at the top there, and making me feel welcome. Going off to explore now while I get the chance, take care ~skull

Hey Highlander! I'm by no means up to date; don't seem to have nearly enough time for reading as I used to and I want to.... but I don't mind being spoiled! If people discuss character development when I'm still just a Storm Front girl, then it will be interesting to see if my opinions tally with
theirs when I do kick my butt into gear and catch up :)

LOL!!

Welcome, PokerKitten!! (from the GotR board!) woohoo!!

Well, there are spoiler-y and non-spoiler-y threads in each of the book sections -- not sure how well that'll work, but we'll see ----

But - take a look around and post about whatever --- I'm pretty flexible -- and there is the "NeverNever" section for all the 'off-topic' stuff ---- (It just seemed appropriate as a title) -

Things might get changed around as ideas get tossed around - and really - if you think of something that might work - toss it out -- I'm open to all kinds of suggestions --- whatever works!!

And I am still working on the webpage to accompany the forum - (the cool Bob the Skull banner at the top of the page should link to the Harry Dresden page now and not back to the forum) ---

Re: Hi there!
Howdy!.. My first post here. I notice that this is a REAL! active board...heh..well..add one more brick to the pile. As to my Dresden experience, I have read all five books and am already screaming for the seventh... Death to Codex Alera! That's time taken away from Harry getting all his crap straightened out. I read somewhere else in an interview with the Butcher that he envisioned the Harry Saga to be about 20 books with a Trilogy capstone at the end...we'll see..But Dammit...he needs to Write faster or some of his loyal readers may be dead before he is finished writing... Anyway...When's number 6 coming out....I need...I gotta have it man!..you just don't understand..No..really I NEED IT! PLEEEEASE!
