Re: yes but..
I suppose that means I have to support the ol' PS2.
I've tried playing games on both the X-Box and Cube, but I just keep coming back to my good buddy, the PS2. Why? I have no bloody idea. The graphics on the X-Box are better, without a doubt. But I just love my Playstation. I mean, I could just say that I like it because I'm used to it, but that would be a bloody lie. I loved playing it when I was still used to my N 64 (which I still have hooked up to my TV. I'm playing Zelda: Majora's mask right now. Just beat Ocarina of Time for about the fifty billionth time yesterday). Plus all of the games that were once reserved for Playstations (GTA for instance) have since gone to every console or PC imaginable. So why stay on the PS2? You tell me why you're on the Cube. I smashed mine into a wall
And I'm now going to go play Mario Kart for my love of throwing a blue turtle shell up Bowser's ass.

Well, I'll be the PC fanboy, even though I have a GameCube, I just don't use it much. I think the PC s far superior in gaming just because of the level of customization you get, or maybe I just prefer using a keyboard to a controller.
The PC does fall in some areas, like fighting games... I just can never seem to do well with them on a PC (I'm not THAT much better on console, but oh well). On the flip side, the PC is much better at RTS and FPS games.
It's all subjective, though, what works for one might not work for another.
.
In fairness, though, FPS's are only SLIGHTLY better on the PC than on consoles- specifically the Xbox. RTS's and most strategy games for that matter are far superior on the good ol' PC.
But back to FPS's- their MAIN draw is the multi-player aspect. Until recently, one couldn't play 32 people all over the world in a game with guns, except on the PC. Not true anymore- xbox and PS2 offer this (one better than the other). So the PC doesn't corner this market.
In the area of price, the best argument for the PC is that most people need one anyway. But here is the thing= a $400 computer can do everything MOST people need, but can't play wolfenstien 3d! If you want to play the most state of the art games, most people need to have at least $1400 shelled out right from the get-go. Add to that the hassle that the PC is (loading your OS and dealing with all the bugs that exist) a MAC would be better if it had the software.
With a console, you only need to know how to turn it on, but with a PC you must be efficient with all sorts'a crap. Some people enjoy that. Good for them. Most don't.
Further, my Computer screen is WAY smaller than my TV. I could link them and use my tv, but that defeats the purpose.
Lastly, against the PC, its just not fair. I play with a normal keyboard and mouse. But * r0gd0rs_m0m*69 has a keyboard that has spring loaded magic keys of response and a mental mouse where he only needs to think and it moves. The vast difference between hardware from one comp to another makes it, simply, unfair to try and compete online on the PC.
Now the problem with FPS's on the Xbox, for example. Not a TON of games, so that sucks of course, but this is changing every week it seems. Plus there is a VAST range of games (from Battlefield to Splinter Cell or Halo).
The PC allows for very specific modulations and changes in games. The xbox doesn't. This, of course, sucks.
But one last thing to remember between them both. The PC is great for FPS and RTS, sure. But thats it. Except for RTS, consoles (all of them) are superior or almost equal (in the case of FPS). Also, the Console is MUCH cheaper- and don't pull that, "its gota be replaced every 3 years" bullshit because I replace my comp that much, and if I gamed on it, it would be more than that!
So if all you like to play are FPS's and RTS's, a PC is for you.
Everyone has a computer it seems, and yet most of them don't play games on them. Most of the audience who play VGames have consoles and computers. But if the PC was good enough, or even close, they wouldn't have consoles at all.
PC for gaming is like going to a bar for dinner. They do a few things real well, but the variety sucks and you are just as likely to get a good beer as you are to get one that taste like dog. Plus the waitress might be sick with a cold and sneeze in your food, while her cigarette stained hand moves to cover her mouth. Consoles are more like a good American resturant like Fridays (back before it started blowing). Your never gona get the best beer you've ever had, but you can get a good one and a great meal as well.
Re: .
The PS2 is like the food court. Its got EVERYTHING there is, and you can get most of the food there way faster than at a restaurant. But its a food court. Come on.
*Restaurant is a hard word to spell *

I'm still pretty much into the Cube and GBA, but there are tons of PS2 games I want whenever I get one and some Xbox ones too that I need to get it for (or just wait till emulation is prefected for them) so I could play them.
And I like computer games too; exspecially RTS games and computer RPGs. I need to get myself into FPS then too; I have a few of them (the Thief series and Half-Life) I want to get into and play through. That or play through Metroid Prime and that will get me into FPS then. The time I tried to play through it though, I beat the Parasite Queen, tried to find the way out of this one room since I couldn't figure it out, and this one space pirate made Samus it's bitch and I got angry at the game.

Yeah, the early stuff is a challenge in that game. Of course, it's nothing like the infinite-spawning fission metroid room right before the final battle. Lots of platforms, and those damn metroids with nothing better to do than knock you off... and no way to stop them from spawning. AAAAAAAH!
Honestly, that room is what made me sell that game.
