Shadrak put his arms around her. Her eyes became so empty when she spoke of her brethern across the sea.
He released her before it became more than friendly. "I am sorry, but these creatures have always come from the dark places of the earth. I know some of the doorways, but to my knowledge they have never been truly sealed. They've always had little doorways and windows into other worlds... at least, the Greater Creatures have, and the Lesser creatures could easily follow in their wake..." Shadrak trailed off, not sure how much about the dimensional paths he'd known so long and traveled so far on he was supposed to speak of.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Megumi could feel the tears that were threatening to come. "It seems so hopeless now that i know this...We're fighting a war we have no hope of winning...no hope of even surviving..." She looked away from shadrak. "I'm sorry...I shouldn't burden you with this..." she said, then turned to leave. "...thank you..."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak leaned against the wall and scrutinized her. "...But you and yours will survive..." he muttered in the ancient dragon tongue. Then he smiled. No creature alive could lie in the ancient tongue, and if he could say that, it must be true.
"Don't worry so much," he called after her, "Life is a battle too, one you're garunteed to lose... but you still fight it... don't you...?"
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Megumi laughed, if a bit saddly. "yes, I suppose you're right." She looked over her shoulder and smiled at him, letting a single tear run down her cheek and crystalize, dropping to the floor. It was a show of trust, to show him her gift. She hoped it was not misguided. "Thank you." She left, closing the door behind her, leaving the crystal for him.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak blinked, and took a step forward. Then stopped. Something had caught his eye, he looked down. The tear! it had crystallized?! He knelt down and picked it up reverently. Well, that was rare. He smiled wryly at it.
He pulled a chain from one of his many pockets and molded it together with the tear, then he slipped the chain over his neck. The tear hung just inside his shirt, and felt warm against his skin.
He shrugged, and wandered back on deck, his thoughts too much awhirl to get to bed right away.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shippo was busy tying a slip knot when he heard it. He stopped and perked his ear up, letting the rope drop, forgotten on the ground.
"Shippo, where're you going-"
"Shh." Dippo had never been shushed by his brother before, but did as he was told. hen he heard it too. A ringing like sound. He got up and followed his brother. Shippo weaved around the ship, cutting a lazy path through the throng of busy sailors from one side to the other, always led by his ear until it hit fabric. Warm fabric, with a beating heart. Dippo was not far behind, egging his brother onward like a master would his faithful dog. "That's it boy! Good boy! Find it boy, you can do it!"
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
ooc: U, stupid! (jk) Remeber some sailors can SMELL fortune when it comes near. LIKE ROSES!
bic: Shippo slowly followed the chest up to the neck, the firm chin and nose up to his eyes.
"Good day Master Shadrak; 'tis a fine piece of jewelry you have there."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak blinked, and flicked Shippo on the forehead, stepping back while he was distracted. "Breathing space my good...um....yeah.... breathing space, kaythanxbaaiii!" He turned to leave, not wanting him to know aught about the necklace, and hoping against hope that his distraction ploy at worked.
Shippo deftly maneuvered himself back to Shadrak's side as he walked away and put an arm around his shoulder.
"Tis' a very nice piece of jewelry you have there Master Shadrak," Shippo said, a sly grin on his face. Dippo watched behind them and shook his head.
"Nothing good is going to come of this," he prophesized.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak stopped, glared into the distance, removed Shippo's hand and smacked him in the head with it. "And?" he finally growled, folding his arms and turning to face Shippo.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak rolled his eyes. "Nooooo, I'm a mage." He raised a brow, still glaring aristocratically. He lifted one hand and let a fiery spark travel between the thumb and forefinger of his hand. "Understood?"
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shippo puts his hands up and backed of.
"Understood mate," he said with a sardonic twinkle in his eyes. He turned and walked away to join his brother, one hand in a pocket and the other bouncing a necklace.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak noted the absence of the necklace nearly right away. He shook his head and sent a SHOCKING amount of electricity through the necklace in Shippo's hand... which he then teleported back to his hand, and hid in his robes. "Bloody pirates..." He turned and sauntered innocently away.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Wow, extra crispy or well done? Dippo thought, looking down at his semi-concious twitching brother.
"I told you so," he said. A small line of druel dribbled out of Shippo's mouth.
Ryoty was moody and snakish when she found Shadrak later that day.
"So where's this mage pirate hide out?" she asked sulkily.
"Under the waves, In water'y caves, By Triton's spear, Darkness lies here..." Shadrak grinned. "A little rhyme every Pirate Mage ought to know. There's a rock that lies above the ocean, it looks like a spear or trident, we dive there, and beneath the water there, there'll be a large dark cave, into that, a short distance, and bam! there we are!" He grinned, scanning the waves for the slim rock formation.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
"Yeah, well, tell me before we dive alright?" She scanned the horizon and shot Shadrak a grumpy look before turning and heading aft to put some lazy sailors to work, passing Dippo fanning his brother. To much lazing about on this ship these days.
