Shadrak grinned, it twisted a bit. "He wanted to make sure that no one was leaving this ship alive... and he wanted full credit. The only way he could manage that was by attacking when the ship was far enough away from shore that no one could possibly make it back to shore and live and he wanted to do it far enough away from the Black Legions outpost that no other Black Legioneer could help, and thus take some credit away from him." He shrugged, "Good thing he was just a greedy bungler. If he'd tried this near the Port you'd all have been dead or slaved." He coughed. It didn't sound healthy, but he shrugged it off. "I hope the next port we find isn't Black Legion."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Ryoty leaned down and pushed the glass toward his lips.
"Take a drink." Then, more loudly, "Damon!"
Almost immediately the door opened and her first mate walked in.
"Yes Cap'n?" he inquired in his usual short, clipped tone.
"Get the Doc in here."
"Cap'm?"
"What?" Ryoty walked around her desk and picked up another apple from her plate. "We can't have our hero dying on us," she looked at Shadrak, "can we?"
Damon did as he was told and fetched the Doc. The Doc came in carrying his tote bag and muttering about lazy people who couldn't get off their lazy buts to walk less then a hundred feet to his cabin. Then he saw Shadrak and yelped.
"Oh! My dear boy, what have you been doing?!"
ooc: Okies, what he ggonna find and what should/do you want me to do?
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
ooc: mweehehehehe hmmm... this takes some thought.... 0.o ...hmmm ... o.0.... hmmm? ....hmmmmm.....XD
"We can't have our hero dying on us," she looked at Shadrak, "can we?"
Shadrak laughed. Hardly! he'd woken up and smacked a demon around, he wasn't even woken up at 2am this time, 'twas a bloody miracle! XD
"Oh! My dear boy, what have you been doing?!"
Shadrak took a drink. Dear boy? he tried to contain a giggle at that.
Shadrak thought a moment. "Tangling with the Black Legion. I don't recommend the deluxe tour!" He grinned wryly.
ooc:
hmmm... Nothing seriously wrong with him, as far as I know XD Shaddy's an odd cookie. Mebbe rest and a cookie?
*pats Shaddy on the head* no, I will not ask for a taquito and a clown with no head, make do with a cookie dammit! XD
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
The Doc made his examination, stood up and said, "Food, sleep, and veggies. He'll be fine," then walked out.
Ryoty made gestures toward the door.
"You heard him, get to bed. I'll have someone bring you food."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak mumbled a thanks and wandered to his room. Having tryed five doors he finally found his and flopped on the bed. Ah sweet bliss. He was out cold before the promised food came.
When he woke up he was ravenous, but in much better grip of his faculties. He wolfed down the food they'd left him, stretched the kinks out of his muscles and wandered out.
It would be awhile before he'd be casting untainted magic, but at least he was physically better. NOW...now she's gonna scream at me... Shadrak thought, walking out across the ruined and scorched deck, and wincing at the damage, though it looked worse than it was. The ship was still sound, but it wasn't pretty.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
The men were busy scrubbing the deck where the scorchmarks had been and rubbing it with beeswax. What boards were unsalvagable were being pealed up and tossed into a pile to be replaced by fresh boards. Damon was busy examining a crossbeam under the nailed boards, cursing becuase that whole beam needed to be replaced. Ryoty could be found in her study, marking their passage thus far on the map and keeping an ear out for Willie's land ho. He'd been doing better of late and was up in the crow's nest, back to sleeping up there with the birds. Although he was still somewhat intelligable, it seemed to be fading, thank God. he Twins were helping him, trying to get him back to swinging again, but they could only go so fast with him in his present condition.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak cocked his head to the side, walked up to Damon and offered to grow him crossbeams from an oak seed he had on hand.
ooc:... I meant to write more... but it just kinda...stopped 0.o
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
"No," Damon shook his head. "Where would you grow it? We could probably just reinforce it with some planks until we stop to resupply and get some wood."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak shrugged, and grinned. Then bounced. "Anything I could do?" he finally asked when he realized he was actually quite antsy after all.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
He continued sanding.
"you could probably go see what the captain is doing, but I wouldn't recommend it. After last night, she night have soem harsh feelings toward you for what happened to her ship."
He swuinted up at the rigging.
"Maybe you could go see what Willie's up to."
Shadrak looked up the rigging, then in the direction of the cap'ns office, then back and forth again. He shrugged and marched off to the office, not quite ready for a jaunt up the rigging just then.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Ryoty lounged in her chair, her feet up on her desk and a pad of paper in her lap. A quill was in her hand and she was scribbling equations on it, scratching her head. Her outfit was simple today with an ornately embroidered off white tunic and tan capris.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Ryoty heard the door open but didn't look up. When she didn't hear anyone enter, she called in a sing-song voice, "Come in!"
She looked up as she brought her feet down and put the pad of paper on her desk.
"Shadrak! Shouldn't you be in bed?"
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak was rather surprised, she seemed almost happy. This was certaintly new. He fidgeted, came in and shrugged. "Too antsy to stay put," he explained in an apologetic tone.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
The reasoning behind Ryoty's good mood was the fact that they were finally under way. When this trip had stated, they had had to sail down the river, past the town with the dark army of evil, keep everything together during a magical thunderstorm, defeat a demon and convince her wily crew to sail beyond sight of land. They'd survived everything, completed every task and come back fighting, and were now on their way to get the biggest treasure known to man.
"Oh. What can I do for ya?"
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
ooc: hey!!!don't forget about me!!!!! catch up time...
bic: (gonna sum it up for ya) basically what megumi has been doing: when her plants where warped in to the dark creature thing she basically passed out from shock and fear, figuring that she was too late and that her mission had failed already (She sensed the tainting of the plant matter). wakes up the following day. No one would have seen this cuz she was in her cabbin at the time a fact for which she is highly greatful(yer evil dude scared the living bejezus outta her).
ooc k, adding more now. didn't have as much time earlier.
Bic: Megumi's eyes opened to the glorius view of...the celing? The hell? She sat up and looked around her cabbin. but...I thought...I know I felt... it was time to figure out what the hell was going on. she left her cabbin and went up to the deck. She grabbed a passing crew member. "Are we dead?" was the first question that came to her lips, then she realized just how crazy she sounded...of course we're not dead...."I mean...of course we're not dead..." she sighed, sounding very frustraited with herself. "what I mean to ask is what happened?"
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
"What do I mean?!" Megumi gestured at the burnt boards being torn up. "I mean what happened?! Why are they taking the ship appart?! why are the boards burnt?! Why are they taking the ship appart?! What happened to the surge of darkness?! ...And why are they taking the ship appart?!" Her gaze kept shifting between the sailor, the boards being torn up and the water rappidly.
