bic: "Lady, where have you been? The mage lost his marbles and set a demon loose on the ship. We managed to get the demon overboard before he could do any real damage, but then the REAL mage showed up and took care of 'im. I not too sure of everything myself, but the captain would answer any questions you 'ave."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Megumi's mind was slipping a bit...somthing about them tearing up the boards really bothered her...mostly, it was the fact that in her mind she could imagine them tearing up a board a bit farther down and sending water gushing in to the ship, sending them all to their deaths. these are pirates a small, conciderably calmer part of herself reminded her, they know what they're doing. The thought hardly comforted her, but she noded to herself then thanked the sailor before heading back below deck to talk to the captian.
She knocked at the captain's door, not waiting for a response before she opened it.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak bounced from foot to foot, "I have no idea what I want..." he looked worried at this lapse, but not too worried.
Then the door opened. HE meeped when he saw the fairy.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Megumi looked like she was tetering on the edge of panic. "Yes." she said, her voice a bit shakie. "You can explain to me why your men are tearing up part of the...Your...ship, assure me that they know what they are doing, and tell me, in as few words as possible, What The Hell Happened." It appeared she was loosing her inner battle for calm. Her eyes kept flicking to the window, or more precisely, to the water outside. Her left forewing was spasming again and, at the moment, she seemed a bit more heavy footed because of it.
ooc: ok, quick explination. there is a huge scar accross her back and all but an inch of the base of her left forewing. basically, she almost had the thing compleately cut off in a fight. it was healed, but there was some damage that they couldn't do anything about. Some time's it'll act up, causing her to be unable to fly. on top of this, she can't swim.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak looked halfway guilty, despite the fact that he really hadn't had anything to do with the destruction of the ship.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Ryoty appeared at a loss for words at the moment. She glanced at Shadrak, then back to Meg. Oh boy. She looked back at Shadrak then to her again.
"Please, sit."
She motioned to the other chair next to Shadrak.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Megumi noded and almost sat in shadrak's lap before she even realized he was in the room. She took a breath, trying to get her wits back about her, and sat in the other chair. Even sitting she didn't look relaxed...Her eyes flicked to the window again and, for a breif moment, there was a flash of pure terror. She tore her eyes away from the window and glued them to Ryoty. if you don't see it, you won't think it...
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
"Ms. Meggu, calm down. My men are professionals, they know exactly what they're doing. Last night, after sundown, the ship was attacked by a fiery demon that left scorch marks on the planks of the maindeck. The demon was defeated, and my men are repairing it. That's all." She purposefully neglected mentioning the fact that Shadrak had anything to do with it. The last thing she needed was a fight on her ship.
"If you don't mind me asking though, why are you so worried? You've got wings. If the ship goes down you can just fly to land."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
For some reason, hearing the words from someone else seemed to calm her down...some. She let out a nervous laugh at Ryoty's question. Her left forewing twitched violently and she winced, cutting the laugh short. "Captain, did it never occur to you that, in theory, I could have flown the entire trip and gotten there already? Why then, did I charter a ship to take me accross the water? hm? Quite simply, the answer is this: I am not capable of flying that distance. I'm sure you've noticed...well here..." she stood up and folded her wings to her back. Where her other wings folded neatly behind her, her left forewing, which was still twiching, stuck out a bit. She turned around and a thick scar could be seen along the base of the wing.
Ryoty saw the scars and winced.
"Well you don't have to worry." She gathered up her pad of paper. "Besides, we have lifeboats on board. If the ship does go down, you can ride one of those to land."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
"Actually, yes. Although it'll be doing as much a favor to your self and your crew as it will to me. We need to alter course slightly. There're a few islands I know of along the way where we can re-supply. And besides that...I think they should know what to expect when we leave." she looked grim. "I don't know what the attack was about last night..." She looked at Shadrak, remembering the situation with the lich-mage before they had gotten out to sea. "...I'm not even sure that it had anything to do with...my situation...but if did, I'd rather not chance leaving those islanders unprepared."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Megumi sighed. "Captain, I don't think you really want me to answer that question." she shook her head. "But I suppose I should. Let's just say that some...most...of the dark creatures and horrors you humans concider fictional are in fact very real. And if my people can't seal them away again...This world will become a True Nightmare for all who live in it." she looked out the window, toward the horrizon, her earlier fears forgotten. "You don't have to believe me, but I've seen them...I've fought them." She looked at Ryoty again. "With luck, there will be more amongst our bretheren accross the sea who have the gift of tears. In the hands of my people, such tears would be a powerful weapon against this darkness."
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
"yeah," she said slowly. "Typical apocolypse then; okay! So these islands, I'm going to need you to mark them out on this map here," she pulled a paper out from under the mess on her desk and handed it to the fairy. "It'd help if you can add the latitude and longitude too. You don't have to though." She pulled open a door in her desk and pulled out a long black thin box with a corked ink pot and black feather quill inside.
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Shadrak grinned. "Sweet! We're doooomed!" then he coughed and attempted to look innocent. He really wouldn't have minded if the lovely winged lady had sat in his lap, shame that she hadn't really. ( )
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Megumi looked a little sheepish..."uh well, ya see...I don't exactly know where they would go on the map...I can point you in the right direction...but..." she shrugged helplessly. "I've only actually been to one island, and that was centuries ago...but I know where they are. I can feel them, or rather, feel the kind of life on them. That's how I know they exist." She shrugged.
at Shadrak's outburst she slowly turned her head and raised an eyebrow at him. For a moment, it was hard to tell what she was thinking...then she looked him up and down and smiled. "You're a strange one..." she said shaking her head. suddenly, a thought occured to her. "you are a dragon, yes?"
Re: Harakel: Cain's Tavern cont.
Ryoty didn't bother to hide the look of disappointment on her face as she set the map and box down.
"You're a strange one..." she said shaking her head. suddenly, a thought occured to her. "you are a dragon, yes?"
Ryoty did a double take on Meg, then turned and raised an eyebrow at Shadrak. She'd seen him as a dragon, but she thought it was just wizarding powers.
