Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Maverick watched transfixed as the battle took place between dragon and giant. "Shadrak, that was incredible!" he yelled bounding over at the end of the battle. "Are you all right?" He placed his hand on Shadrak's shoulder.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Shadrak stood up looking rueful, "Always happens," he muttered wryly. He turned to Maverick, "Yup, just fine, but ample reason for my avoidance of the berzerker career."

"Obviously,": he reponded wryly. "Well, now that you've got hat out of your system, why don't we head for the nearest sign of civilization?" He clapped him on the shoulder and strode back to the campsite.

Shadrak shrugged and followed Maverick, "Siotently, point and we shall travel."

He scooped and gathered up all his belongings, making sure they were all stopped and sealed up tight before shoving them into the bag. He paused over the two dragon crystals, then shrugged and shoved them both into his bag also. He made a survey of the camp making sure they hadn't forgotten anything, noded satisfactorily, and shot up, standing tall and surveying the horizon. "Okay... I say we go that-a-way." He pointed north. "There's always people north," he said as an excuse. "Shall we?"

Shadrak grinned as he swiftly regained his normal colour. With a sweeping bow he said mischieviously, "Ladies first."

ooc: btw, he has one of the crystals with him, you have the other

ooc: oh. okay.

bic: Maverick grinned devilishly, took on a flighty expression and twirled a lock of shoulder-length black hair around his finger. "Well if you insist, you devil you," he answered in an extaordinarily high voice voice, fluutering his eyelashes. He winked at him and strutted ahead, one hand on hip, adding an extra good shake to his hips.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
At first this response shocked Shadrak, but only for a moment. He burst into laughter, "Well, there's something to keep in mind," he snickered, "If we ever need a girl to go someplace a guy can't, we both know who'd do the job best." hehehe :evil Shadrak followed Maverick, not even attempting to imitate the mincing steps, still somewhat helpless with laughter.

ooc: y'knooow, Cloud from ff7 cross-dressed hehehe

"All right but I'm not shaving my legs. The razor burn would be killer," Maverick retorted. "Now you on the other hand, if we ever needed a good pyromaniacal psychotic dragon, we'd know where to look, wouldn't we?"

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Shadrak laughed at the first then grinned happily and dazedly, imagining some huge bonfire somewhere no doubt. Even though he was in human form some smoke trickled out of his nostrils.

ooc: now...we skip ahead and find a village?

ooc: Suuuuuuuuuuuure.:D

bic: The village was compiled of small mud and thatch huts around a shabby-looking inn. A small, muddy river ran along side it, with a rickety warf extending out into the mud, but not even touching the river. Hmm, Maverick grunted, must be dry season, he thought.

The sky darkened to a morbid gray and a light, drizzling rain began to fall. Maverick noticed Shadrak's obvious distaste. "What's your problem?" he asked. The people looked at them furtively as they entered the village and picked up their pace. Mothers scooted their young into the huts against the children's angry wails, leaving the old out in the drizzling rain to fend for themselves. "Hospitable people aren' they?" Maverick added sarcastically, looking around.

"It's dirty," Shadrak whined petulantly, then sighed. "It's the same wherever you go, strangers mean danger unless they wear the clothes of a knight or someone they trust, often the strangers pose them less harm." Shadrak had some serious anger against society as a whole.

Maverick cocked an eyebrow at him. "Okay first of all, they're huts. And second of all..." he paused, trying to think of a way to address Shad's society issue. He finally just sighed and gave up, saying in a resigned voice, "Come on, I'll buy you a drink." He took off towards the inn.

Shadrak shrugged, "Aye, in times like these all ye can do is get drunk! and hope that you wake up somewhere non-compromising..."

"Isn't that the truth," Maverick agreed. They walked into the inn, a two-story building that looked to be held together more by bird droppings and grime then any nails or architectural design. The common room was dark, lit by a few foggy lanterns and a smokey fireplace. The ground was strewn with moldy straw, the tables and chairs rickety and in desperate need of repair and the place smelled of rotten garbage. Maverick wrinkled his nose as he stepped inside the door, and sat down at the cleanest looking table. The bartender eyes them warily, but waved his hand as a dumpy looking woman bustled out of the kitchen and hurried over to them eyeing them like a falcon watching a rabbit.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Shadrak's hunter look was evident, it didn't pay to show weakness in these sorts of places. He barely took in his surroundings other than to note that they were dark and dingy, like most of the dives he'd ever frequented, instead he made a careful catalogue of the faces in the room and their positions. He felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up...something was up! He carefully checked the occupants of the room once more, and nearly jumped when he saw two glittering black eyes looking straight back at him from a corner he would've sworn was empty just moments before. The dumpy woman came over and took their order with obvious ill-breeding and contempt mixed in her face, Shadrak paid her half a mind, still watching the person in the corner out of the corner of his eye. When she'd left he noted movement in the corner and the dark clad and cloaked man (as he now appeared to be) rose and walked over to their table, bold as brass. He sauntered over and leaned over their table. His breath felt cold, but didn't smell foul as Shadrak had half-expected it to, "Any room?" the stranger asked in a low, smooth voice. His eyes never left Shadrak. Shadrak silently moved a seat over on the bench and the man slipped into the space.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Maverick watched the silent exchange between Shadrak and the dark clad stranger and noticed Shad's mood swing. Did he know this stranger, or was he just being cautious? He wanted to find out what this stranger wanted, but decided he'd better just sit back and watch. Something was happening here that was thick with undercurrents he was unfamiliar with.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Shadrak had a niggling feeling that something about this man was familiar, or perhaps it was just the feeling of power that certain mages have about them, for he was now certain that the man was a mage. However, Shadrak kept his own natural magic sign emissions hidden, he always felt cautious around mages, at the very least. THe cloaked man turned to Shadrak, ignoring Maverick, "You two going anywhere special? I know the area, and as fine warriors as you two may be, there's bad magic in the hill's 'round here." Shadrak's expression was inscrutable, he felt certain that this was no hedge wizard trying to get a bit of extra money as a guide and jack of all magic, as most hedge wizards are wont to do. Also, the fact that he'd intentionally excluded Maverick from the conversation that should've been mainly directed at him was intrigueing as well. Besides which, hedgewizards were dirty little men and most definetly didn't have such courtly manners. Shadrak turned his head to Maverick deliberately, "What you say partner?" SHadrak asked, making no mention of his own magical abilities just in case in should prove that this man wanted to use magic against them int he offensive.
