believe me, i don't have anything wrong with gays, i don't use gay as an insult, or any stuff like that. lots of people do though, & it just completely doesn't bother me anymore. i do have some friends who are gay/bi, & it did piss me off to hear gay used as an insult for a while. like i said though, it just doesn't bother me anymore. when you have people who walk around using gay as an insult in just about every sentance that comes out of their mouth, & your entire family is a bunch of homophobes, you learn to hate people & move on.
& since you asked so nicely, i think i'll close this now...*nods*

Anyway, just so you know, this theory of mine wasn't in order to insult LB. It was just funny (for me). In addition, gay is insult for me, and most men see the word "gay" as an insult, so don't Bullshit, please.

I found out that one of my best friends at college in my German class was gay. I didn't care, because it didn't change him as a person; he was still the same. But when some other people found out, they taunted me about it, saying that I must be gay too, because I have a gay friend. That sort of things pisses me off so much.

Anyway, after reading the thread more caerfully, i have something to tell ya, SoB.
You are offended by the word "gay". The fact that i made this humorous thread doesn't mean i said it to offend anyone. I said it just to tease LB. The fact that you are pissed off by teasing people with the word gay, doesn't mean this therad should be closed or that i need to change how i speak, or that what i say is "crap".
As i said before, one of my best friends is gay, he is very connected to the gay community in Israel. Most of them don't have a problem with this word, they tease each other with the word "Faggot" (in Hebrew the word is offensive, but less than the one in English). Whenever we speak i burst out calling him "Dirty ol fag!", and he laughs his ass off. It has become a joke, i use it *because* i know it makes him laugh and doesn't hurt him.
Why do you get so upset of other people using this word as an insult? Becuase i sencerely believe most males out there consider this word to be a big insult. It's not the same between females and the word "Lesbien". Men are ashamed of this phenomena, there are many many who hide in the closet for a long time because of fear and shame.
This is sad, people aren't supposed to be afraid of what they are. Me and my friends knew our friend is gay a long time before he admitted it, when he saw we are fine with it, he came out of the closet.
Another point i have is about all the parades gay people have. I think this is not a good phenomena. "Pride parade" they call it. What the fuck do they have to be proud about????! Are straight people proud of their "striaghtness"?
In addition, a lot of people find men making out in front of their face one of the grosest things that can happen to you (from experience). They should leave their sex life private, they shouldn't make parades in order to show everybody that they are gay and to demostrate their sexual prefrences.
One more thing, i don't think a gay couple should be allowed to adopt. I think it hurts the child to be exposed to this.
Anyway, i think this discussion is interesting and surprisingly serious. I don't think it should be closed.
In conclusion, i'm sure most of you think differently than me. This is just my opinion.

WOW! A serious discussion on this board?! I am shocked.
Ned, why do you think having gay parents would harm the exposed child? Aren't they better off in a loving home than in foster care or a group home? As a person without a loving, supportive family, I would very much want all children to have an oppurtunity to experiance one. Even if it meant having a gay couple as parents.
I'm not being argumentative. I would like to hear your reasons.

First of all, not letting the kid grow up with gay parents doesn't mean he has to live in foster care or group home. Having gay parents doesn't mean they are gonna supply loving environment, like you can't be sure with staright parents.
Gay people are more open in regards to sex, i think it's harmful for the kid to gtow up this way. In addition, i don't think he should be exposed to gay people.
As much as i don't have a problem with people being gay, it's sill some kind of perversion. You can't control it, you are born like that, but still, i don't think a kid should be exposed to it.

Ok man, be glad SOB is not here! First of all, gay people are not necessarily more open about sex. And people that are do not have it in front of their children! What a crock of shit that was.
Second, the openly affectionate gay people you may see in parades, etc. does not represent the entire gay population. We see them because that is what is televised.
Being gay is not a perversion. Enough said on that.
Did you know that statistically speaking, more children are molested by straight men? More women are raped, than are homosexuals? More children are abused by straight parents than gay? That does not mean it doesn't happen, these are just statistics.
Don't single out gays as being the "wrong kind of people". (that is a quote I once heard - not Ned's)
If you have any religion at all - don't you believe God made us who we are? He knows, as well as we all should, that none of us are innocent, but sexual preference is not a ticket to hell either.
Besides, sexual preference is a small part of a person. There is so much more to look at and to see in an individual than what they may do in their bedroom.

I'm very sorry to say this, but the gay affection exhibits i've seen were not on TV. I know enough gay people, they are sure as hell more open about these issues. TOO open.

Never said that, true, i don't think so, either. But like people are not allowed to adopt because some kind of reasons, i don't think a kid should grow up with 2 men, or 2 women. I'm Jewish. The Jewish religion says gay people are sinners and should be killed (it's funny that the bible only mention gay guys in that category, not women). But the Jewish religion is old and changes are made through the years. Anyway, using the religion card won't work in my case.

I don't know about that, i don't think being too open minded is very good. I don't think i'm closed minded, when i meet a gay person and treat him/her the same as straight people. Who says I am the one with the twisted perception? It's really how you look at things, and one can't tell another one that his opinion is twisted.
But what i'm trying to say is that i think it's disgusting. I know that's what they like, but i just find it gross, and don't want to see an exhibit of affection by gay guys in front of my face. I'm not the only one. (Note, that i don't like when staright people are sitting with me and start kissing too much, it shows total disrespect- but watching my friend and his BF doind this, i was praying to see a girl and guy doing it in front of me.. )

Ned, I grew up in a pretty conservative Christian household, and it was hard for us all when my brother came out. I know you have friends who are gay, but trust me when I say when it's family it's different. All I ask is that you respect how I feel, and try not to make derogatory statements about gays.
I don't have all the answers, but I love my brother very, very, very much and I will not tolerate people saying things about him or who he is or how he lives. It is not my place or anyone else's to judge him or any other gay person. It is my place to LOVE them.
I don't want to argue with you, just understand how it makes me feel when I hear "gay" used in a negative way, or jokes about gays. There are too many people in this world who hold against my brother who he is. He doesn't deserve that and neither does any other gay person. They are human too after all. We are all sinners, are we not? We are here to LOVE, bottom line.

Well, perhaps, even they wouldn't want LB to be noe of them. But i don't think this thread was about takling about gay people, nor did it mention bad things about them (before). The thing that got me started was the fact that you were REALLY upset for no reason. No one said a bad thing about gay people in this thread before you got upset.
Anyway, my friend had a really tough time with his family too. The moron he calls "dad" thought he could change him. That if he get himself a GF and watch some James Bond mobiev, he'll be CURED.
Kiddy, i'm sure for a lot of women, a vision of 2 women having sex is totally gross. I accept that.
