"Daddy's" Little Girl
The early morning sun beat down on a small figure crouched beneath the underbrush outside of the lavish Xavier Estate. It...or, upon closer inspection, she, sat silently amoung the yellowing ferns and watched. Dark hazel eyes swept the compound over and over; nothing could really be seen...but her nose detected that there had been people coming through this way often. The lingering scent of teenage hormones and decisively rank body odor assaulted her, making each breath somewhat nauseating. X-23 loved it already.

After several more minutes of letting the sun creep further over the horizon, she let out a sigh of relief. X-23 had survived the night outside of this place...it was obviously safe enough to at least TRY the grounds. If at any moment she felt unsafe, she had spent hours upon hours mapping every escape route that was viable...and at least three that weren't viable, but if her life was in danger, she could execute them with some difficulty.

Weapon X had pretty much given up on her and she knew it. The first day she never returned to their rondevous point they had searched high and low for her...on the second they treated her as a runaway...by the next week, they were only sweeping the sewers for her body. X-23 was slightly amused by it; she'd never been dead before. There was no bell to wake her up at 4:23am, no daily lashing to put her in her place for any bad thoughts she may or may not have been having about murder or suicide, no rigorous training sessions or lab tests...just silence.

And silence was what welcomed her as she jumped over the North wall onto the Xavier Estate's front lawn. In the morning light flowers began to stretch their pedals, during the dark night, the fowers had closed their buds. It was sort of symbolic...at least to X-23 who had nothing to do but stare at the flowers.

It was a new dawn, a new day and a new place to start all over again.

Straightening her back and standing to her full height, she let out a heavy sigh. Clutched in her tiny hand was a file...a file that would bring her to something new. Now she just had to get someone's attention....

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
No doubt Mez's mind drifted on another plane. Sprouting fangs, his back, and body becoming more feral. The young man's body began to turn dark and darker, new muscles, stretching and writhing under his body. His face, growing tighter, his teeth expanding, growing sharper, with each inch they grew. Mez's hands hardened, knuckles molding into his darkening skin, fingers shortening, becoming stubby. The boy's body dipped and legs bent in places that they shouldn't.

Mez fell back onto the grass. Staring at his own hands, his callous palms began to turn into paws, claws, extended. A long tongue came out and licked his own razor teeth. The dark brown eyes that once were a man's were, became to spilt down the middle, green glazing over them. Dilated pupils, reflected an animal's rage. Mez screamed at the top of his longs his long body twisting and cracking, with a heightened roar...

Back to reality, thought Mez as his eyes pryed open once more. Mez turned and kneeled trying to let himself regain his composure. Rising slowly, Mez groaned and wobbled. Leaning against a tree he tried to steady himself. Defiant and arrogant as ever he tried to walk and accidentally bumped into a young girl, just trying to walk the grounds.

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
X-23 had smelled him from a mile away...it was a dog, she sniffed. A dirty, rotten human male. The feline in her piqued up, bringing her hands up to cross her chest, just in case she had to kick some ass. Her eyes darted from side to side, not moving a muscle; Weapon X had taught her that if she was quiet enough, tense enough and on guard enough, she could stand in broad daylight and take out whatever beast came her way. She just never thought it would actually bump into her.

Jumping back from the brief contact, she growled. Her posture became rigid, her back arched and her hands out in front of her as if she were asking for a fist fight. But X-23 did not get in fist fights...she got into razor claw, maul your opponent until he was dead, fights. Her long, dark hair fell over her eyes, making her look even more like a deranged animal.

The file she had been so desperate to protect was now laying face down on the grass. It revealed all her secrets, all the terrible things Weapon X had done to her and her "father" whom she was going to find...no matter the cost.

Circling around this newcomer, she eyed him like prey to be hunted. Since her communication skills were severely lacking--due to the fact that most of her sentances were: Dead, sir-- it was difficult for her to form sounds with her throat. After several times standing in front of this boy and trying to get her throat to work, she managed it, "Who are you?"

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
"I cannot hold my liqour" Mez said his legs still weak, he managed to crack a smile. "J-just kiddin there, I ain't no alcoholic." He said shaking his head from side to side. "I'm a drunk, alcoholics go to meetings." He said, still in a daze, having no idea what he was doing. "Hey, you three quit movin around." He said pointing to X-23, and 2 other spots that she wasn't present. "Don't make me come over there now" He said sagging, and falling a few more inches down the tree.

"Who am I?" Mez asked rhetorically. "Why I'm Mez...I think it means "To Remember"...though for some strange reason I can't remember why..." He said raising his hands up. "Put her there." Said Mez, stretching out one hand.

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
"I cannot hold my liqour""J-just kiddin there, I ain't no alcoholic.""I'm a drunk, alcoholics go to meetings.""Hey, you three quit movin around." X-23 watched in disgust as the man before her showed that he was clearly drunk. And in this close of a distance, she could smell the liqour all over him. Wrinkling her nose, she took a few paces back.

Her mind worked at lightning pace...what was an alcoholic? A drunk? Sure he smelled like Dr. Diamont did after he drank out of a big bottle that said 'Bourbon'...but she didn't understand what he was doing. Baring her fangs, she kept her eyes trained on him in case he tried anything funny.

Finally the idiotic man answered her damn question...with a question. "Who am I?""Why I'm Mez...I think it means "To Remember"...though for some strange reason I can't remember why...""Put her there." In the second he put his hand out to her, she let go. Two razor sharp blades exploded from her tiny hands and one from each of her feet.

There she stood in all her glory, adamantium claws extended and ready to chop off this guy's head...or whatever part of his anatomy came closest to her first. "Stay back." She growled, tossing her hair back to reveal her face. If the man knew Wolverine at all...he would be shocked at the sight of her. The girl was the spitting image of him except smaller and her eyes were dark and almond shape.

Emitting another feral growl, she held herself at the ready. "Stay back or you die."

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
OOC: Mez isn't really drunk, its just that he's so reeling from his trance that he thinks he is.

IC:

Mez looked up at both of his hands. And turned them over and made them into makeshift claws. "Grrr...." He said with a smile the effort made the young man fall down. Leaning against, the tree he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small vial. Mez still groggy and groaning, he uncapped it and took a wiff. Immediately his mind returned to normal and he stood up slowly.

Rubbing his temples, Mez, still leaned against the tree. Mez kept his hands down, he didn't feel that this was the time to test his ability to liquadate himself. He kept his hands at his side and calmed himself, peeping pairs of eyes stared at the pair of people, one ready to kill the other coming out of a trance oncemore.

"Name's Mez...Second Lieutenant USMC, I wouldn't have perhaps done anything stupid, did I?" Mez asked having very little of what had just happened or what he had done to make a girl grow steel claws from her hands and feet and get ready to kill him.

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
OOC: That wasn't too clear to me, but my bad.

X-23 was not amused by this hoodlum from whatever place he had dragged himself from. "Grrr...." Karika Yashida was not mocked, and he was going to be sure to know that real soon. Keeping her near-black eyes trained on him, she took a daring step toward him. Before she had a chance to attack though, he took out a vial of something that nearly knocked her on her ass.

The scent was meant to help non-ferals to become more alert or something...but to X-23 with her ultrasensitive sense of smell, it made her whole body shake. Claws or no, she held onto her burning nose, willing the pain to stop. Taking another few steps back, she forced herself to breathe through her mouth until at least the pain subsided.

What kind of a man was this? "Name's Mez...Second Lieutenant USMC, I wouldn't have perhaps done anything stupid, did I?" Second Lieutenant? She had assassinated a second leiutenant once...he had caught whiff of Weapon X (no pun intended) and had to be put down fast. This 'Mez' character seemed to be headed for the same fate.

Swallowing heavily, she lowered her hands from her face. Most of the pain was gone, leaving only a twinge of burning as she breathed in and out. She understood the word 'stupid'...it had been reamed on her many times at Weapon X; that's always where she learned all important words: witch, rotten, half-breed, idiot, and screw. It seemed, as she thought upon it, those were the only ones she'd need to get by here.

"You're stupid." She bit out, not truly understanding the meaning of the word, but getting the angry gist of it. But he had introduced himself, and when someone spoke to her she was required to speak back at least. "I am X-23..." She started, but then forcibly stopped herself. "No, I am Karika Yashida."

So said the file that was...not in her hand! Frantically she picked up the manilla envelope and held it tight to her body. "Karika Yashida..." She repeated, and tacked on a friendly, "Stupid."

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
OOC:
Its more my fault for not sayin it.

Don't matter two people don't make a pina colada. No it was...something else. Anyway....

IC:

Mez got up, still queasy, but regaining his feet. " 'Stupid' eh?" The young man smiled at hearing those words. "Well I've been told a lot other worse things, but I give you props for keepin it simple, my mind just can't handle big words" He said chuckling. "Need some help Karika?" He asked as she protected the manila folder, as if it was her own child.

This girl was nuttier then a jar of peanut butter. Mez didn't want to have another incident. He had had enough of crazy teenage women to last him for the day. Getting mauled again by a 5 foot 100lbs girl again was hardly at the top of Mez's to-do list.

Mez shook his head with a slight smile, remembering some not-so good times. The young man leaned agains the tree with a smile. He folded his arms across his chest and kept a friendly smirk on his face. He really didn't want to fight. Mez leaned back and tried to show he was relaxed hopefully he would succeed.

Mez's finger began to trace the tatoo of the fighting shark and octupus that covered most of his upper-left torso with his mind. He asked his ancestors for guidance, looking for their names that had been etched into his own skin. Mez looked for for help, something he always needed. Drawing from the spiritual energy he believed resided within the tatoo, Mez calmed himself once again.

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
OOC: That post is 67 words. If you doubled it, you'd still not make the requirement. But for the sake of moving things along, I'm going to get it slide :D

IC:

" 'Stupid' eh?" "Well I've been told a lot other worse things, but I give you props for keepin it simple, my mind just can't handle big words" X-23 was not too happy with Mez right now. First of all, he seemed to be laughing in her face when she had adamantium claws extended not two feet away from him. Adamantium could cut just about anything, even diamond if you had enough time to sit there and whittle away at it. But she did not have the time nor the energy to whittle away at diamond or his idiocy.

"Stupid." She repeated, malice dripping from her voice. Words didn't make sense to her yet. The intent was clear, she was trying to insult him...but in the eyes of a girl who was only five feet tall and weighed just about 100 pounds, well it didn't come across as scary as she would've liked. Most of her assassination attempts had been the same...people would not imagine that a cute little nothing like X-23 would kill them quickly and without remorse; she was a shocking little girl.

And what was even more shocking as the file she had tucked in her hand. Mez seemed like he wanted to help too...although she couldn't be sure. "Need some help Karika?" Karika almost smiled when he used her name; she liked that...she didn't like being called X-23. That was a designation, not a name. That did not mean, however, that she was ready to open up her entire life history to him.

Shaking her head fervently, she held the file closer. "Mine." She said, making it very clear that it was hers and she was not letting it go. "Only mine."

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
Mez looked at Karika. Mez stared at her more appropriately. She still refused to lighten up, Mez didn't feel afraid of having a girl with blades in his face. But just to be careful, he watched her movement anyway.

He had seen people use knives but never ones that came out of your hands. The fact that she did, scared him a lot more then the blades. That and her willingness to use them.

"Mine." She said, making it very clear that it was hers and she was not letting it go. "Only mine."

"Your, only yours" Mez said back.

"OK, sure, but I guess those shanks coming out of you are yours too then? Just to let you know some people are a little uncomfortable with giant claws." He said pointing off to the side to a few teenagers watching intently what was happening.

"Now I don't plan on getting gutted today, or tommorow, and I'm sure you didn't come here to kill nobody, so...could you do me a small favor and put those things in their proper place, which I trust isn't in me." He said to her in a friendly voice.

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
So X-23 wasn't the friendliest little girl...that wasn't a shock. But this guy in front of her wasn't coming across as too friendly either...at least, in her mind. She was a nine year old girl in the body of a seventeen year old woman...with all the anger PMS had to offer except...she wasn't in the midst of PMS. She was just angry and frightened.

"Your, only yours" Karika nodded fervently. "Mine." She answered with a small smirk on her face; maybe the man was getting it. "OK, sure, but I guess those shanks coming out of you are yours too then? Just to let you know some people are a little uncomfortable with giant claws." At first it looked as if his words hadn't sunk in with her at all...she stood silently staring at him as if she were the stupid one.

But after several moments, she looked down at her claws. "Mine too." She answered bitterly. The man would not know the pain that her adamantium claws caused her...he could not know how the metal bore into her bones, making every movement painful beyond imagination. It was something that one just never got completely used to; her bones regrew themselves completely every 4-5 days because the metal in her body weighed just about as much as she did. Even though her body was little over 100 pounds...with that frame of adamantium she was well over 170 pounds. Karika was lucky to be able to walk let alone fight with the skill she had.

Watching the teenagers out of the corner of her eye as she held the file close, she bit her lip...obviously thinking about what he had said, "Now I don't plan on getting gutted today, or tommorow, and I'm sure you didn't come here to kill nobody, so...could you do me a small favor and put those things in their proper place, which I trust isn't in me."

Looking down at her small hands she noticed some blood was bubbling from the cuts her claws had inflicted on her. It was against her better judgement but she retracted her claws slowly, trying to stop from hissing at the pain she felt. Gripping the file closer as if it were a saftey blanket, she kept herself alert. "School here?" She asked, looking at the building while still making sure everyone around her kept an appropriate distance away from her. "Need find donor." Pointing to the file enthusiastically. "Snake girl...said here."

Now it was becoming more obvious she didn't understand much of what he was saying...and the gentle shaking of her body revealed a side to the assassin that she usually hid quite well. She was very afraid that they were going to cart her back to Weapon X and they'd kill her. "You...help?" She asked, her dark hazel eyes pleading.

How could he possibly say no to her?

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
"Now we're making progress" Mez said. I finally got her up to three words. The young girls speech was off. But Mez could only guess that the blades in her body weren't natural. Mez was more then happy to get her some peace, even if people around here were used to seeing blades he seriously doubted that they would feel comfortable with them around.

Mez watched her body intently, as the claws slowly retracted from to their homes.

"I haven't found a snake girl yet..." He said with a smile. "I've known a few girls that were snakes but thats about it." Mez said to her, matter of factly.

"Don't give me that pretty face girlfriend cuz I ain't like that." Mez said snapping his fingers. "Kay, how bout you walk with me, and we'll see if we can find her, that way we can be surprised together." He said motioning towards the school.

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
"Now we're making progress" Okay she back to being confused. Progress? How? He had finally stopped making no sense, she'd give him that...but they had made no progress in finding Mariko Yashida or her genetic template "Logan". It was getting harder and harder for her to understand...especially when he started talking about girl snakes.

"I haven't found a snake girl yet...""I've known a few girls that were snakes but thats about it.""Don't give me that pretty face girlfriend cuz I ain't like that.""Kay, how bout you walk with me, and we'll see if we can find her, that way we can be surprised together." She was completely confused now. "Not here." She said, shaking her head. "Snake girl in sewer, you know her?" She pointed back the way she had come...from New York City; maybe if he knew many snake girls he would remember this one. "I kill her." She answered, pointing to herself, trying to tell him that she had been sent to kill the girl in the sewer who had told her about this place.

Karika feared he just thought she killed her and tried to get him to listen. "No walk. Inside." She said, pointing to the school again and then back to the file. No one had attacked her outside, as Weapon X always did. She had been standing there for far too long; they'd have struck already. So inside she wanted to go where it was even safer.

The sun was rising further over the horizon, putting her in plain sight...and plain sight was deadly for her. "School help me." She said, moving toward the building again. "Now."

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
Mez felt stunned. The young man, was confused probably more then Karika. This girl really needed to be inside. Even more so then she thought.

"You may want to keep talk of killin' to minimum." He whispered quietly to her. Mez would to his best to keep her calm, but it looked like that would be a trying endeavor. "Alright, well follow me" He said politely, putting on some I-pod Earphones. Mez selected the song "Thugz Mansion".

"You like music" Mez said trying to find something to talk about. Even if she didn't answe back, the young Marine felt somewhere that talking might keep her attention focused on something else besides her mission or intent to kill a girl. "You know for some strange reason I don't find you the talkative type, I never knew a woman who wasn't willing to talk." said the young man as he walked to the doors to the school.

Mez was lying, he really just met a similar girl, a couple hours ago.

OOC:
Lyrics
Thugz Mansion (Nas Acoustic)
Warning: Some Language

(feat. J. Phoenix, Nas)

sh*t, tired of gettin shot at
Tired of gettin chased by the police and arrested
Niggaz need a spot where WE can kick it
A spot where WE belong, that's just for us
Niggaz ain't gotta get all dressed up and be Hollywood
Y'knahmean? Where do niggaz go when we die?
Ain't no heaven for a thug nigga
That's why we go to thug mansion
That's the only place where thugs get in free and you gotta be a G
... at thug mansion

[Verse One: 2Pac]
A place to spend my quiet nights, time to unwind
So much pressure in this life of mine, I cry at times
I once contemplated suicide, and woulda tried
But when I held that 9, all I could see was my momma's eyes
No one knows my struggle, they only see the trouble
Not knowin it's hard to carry on when no one loves you
Picture me inside the misery of poverty
No man alive has ever witnessed struggles I survived
Prayin hard for better days, promise to hold on
Me and my dawgs ain't have a choice but to roll on
We found a family spot to kick it
Where we can drink liquor and no one bickers over trick sh*t
A spot where we can smoke in peace, and even though we G's
We still visualize places, that we can roll in peace
And in my mind's eye I see this place, the players go in fast
I got a spot for us all, so we can ball, at thug's mansion

[Chorus: J. Phoenix + (Nas)]
Every corner, every city
There's a place where life's a little easy
Little Hennessy, laid back and cool
Every hour, cause it's all good
Leave all the stress from the world outside
Every wrong done will be alright (I wanna go)
Nothin but peace (I wanna go) love (I wanna go nigga)
And street passion, every ghetto needs a thug mansion

[Verse Two: Nas]
A place where death doesn't reside, just thugs who collide
Not to start beef but spark trees, no cops rollin by
No policemen, no homicide, no chalk on the streets
No reason, for nobody's momma to cry
See I'm a good guy, I'm tryin to stick around for my daughter
But if I should die, I know all of my albums support her
This whole year's been crazy, asked the Holy Spirit to save me
Only difference from me and Ossie Davis, gray hair maybe
Cause I feel like my eyes saw too much sufferin
I'm just twenty-some-odd years, I done lost my mother
And I cried tears of joy, I know she smiles on her boy
I dream of you more, my love goes to Afeni Shakur
Cause like Ann Jones, she raised a ghetto king in a war
And just for that alone she shouldn't feel no pain no more
Cause one day we'll all be together, sippin heavnly champagne
What angels saw, with golden wings in thug's mansion

[Chorus w/o Nas]

[Verse Three: 2Pac]
Dear momma don't cry, your baby boy's doin good
Tell the homies I'm in heaven and they ain't got hoods
Seen a show with Marvin Gaye last night, it had me shook
Drippin peppermint Schnapps, with Jackie Wilson, and Sam Cooke
Then some lady named Billie Holiday
Sang sittin there kickin it with Malcolm, 'til the day came
Little LaTasha sho' grown
Tell the lady in the liquor that she's forgiven, so come home
Maybe in time you'll understand only God can save us
When Miles Davis cuttin lose with the band
Just think of all the people that you knew in the past
that passed on, they in heaven, found peace at last
Picture a place that they exist, together
There has to be a place better than this, in heaven
So right before I sleep, dear God, what I'm askin
Remember this face, save me a place, in thug's mansion

[Chorus]

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
Karika was slightly perturbed when he leaned in, lowering his voice. She sniffed, stepping back another step; luckily with her sense of hearing she heard every word in crystal clearness. She also heard a dog barking South Southeast and a cicadia clicking off to her immediate left. "You may want to keep talk of killin' to minimum.""Alright, well follow me" "I kill, not talk." She said, trying to assure him that she would keep it quiet...but ended up making it sound even worse.

She was completely oblivious to her own misguided attempts at communicating with someone who was not asking her: Is the target dead? To her everything she said made perfect sense...to him, however, she probably sounded like a nut job. Then again, he was a complete nutjob according to her. "You like music" "Music? What means music?" She asked and watched as she stuck some wierd white thingies into his ears.

Her ears perked up as some awful noise began coming from his head. With a gasp she covered her ears, not sure if music was going to come out of her head too. After a minute of just staring, she realized the music was coming out of the white thingies hooked up to a small detonator-like device; that realization came with a true relaxation. Mez said trying to find something to talk about. "You know for some strange reason I don't find you the talkative type, I never knew a woman who wasn't willing to talk."

X-23's probing eyes watched him as he spoke. "I talk." She answered, pointing to her throat. "INSIDE." She clarified, letting him know clearly that she was not about to go throwing her bussiness around outside; this was indoor talk. Very very dangerous and time sensitive talk; this talk was about her "father".

OOC: That's not a song I know, lol.

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
Warning: Use of religion

"Music? What means music?" She asked and watched as she stuck some wierd white thingies into his ears.

"Lord I promise you, if you help me find a woman who isn't crazy I will give up my life of sin"

Mez said to himself in the privacy of his own mind. He was wondering if Karika, was alright upstairs. This girl obviously hadn't been walked around the block too many times.

"Uh..." Mez said finally out of words to say.

"I talk." She answered, pointing to her throat. "INSIDE."

"Okay...straight done to business eh?" He said opening the door for her to the Mansion. "I need a life" thought Mez, if he wasn't already crazy he sure would be soon. As Mez listened to Ipod songs cycled through and he finally got to one of his favorite Tupac songs. "Do for love". Mez started getting in snych with the music singing the lyrics with the song.

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
OOC: I'm a Jew ;) But feel free to go crazy with religion without warning me, lol.

"Okay...straight done to business eh?" X-23 stood up straighter. "Straight to bussiness." She echoed, pointing proudly at her chest showing that she was excellent a bussiness. The file in her hands not only detailed her birth, why she was named X-23 (she was the 23rd try Weapon X used to create Wolverine's clone) but it also showed her body count...and shockingly enough, the number was well over 1000.

For such a sweet looking little thing, she was no stranger to death and destruction. Moving toward the door, she listened as he turned on a new song...she decided that she did not like music. "Off." She said, pointing at it. "Bad." The talking was in some sort of time, but it didn't make sense to her; she didn't know what half the words meant...

FINALLY he led to the door and they were going inside...stepping past the threshold, she took a deep breath, inhaling the pine scent of the clean floors. "Safe." She whispered, a smile spreading on her face.

OOC: Er, this thread is still active, right? I so just got back and am slipping two of my four charries here. Hope they are welcome. Oh, and yay, we have an X-23! One of my favs!

What, she wasn’t awake yet? ~Geesh, Mana, sleep forever why don’t you?~ he thought, turning to walk away from the door, the sound of it opening bringing a raised eyebrow, and a slight smirk to his face. “Oh, that is just typical, Mana,” St. John Allerdyce admonished, “I should have known you wouldn’t answer me, leave me standing here thinking you were still asleep…” Flick. Click. Ignite. A return grin and chuckle from Mana, then a lopsided, questioning stare. “What’s up?” she asked.

“Nothin’, just coming to make sure you hadn’t died on me. You’ve been asleep for a while now,” he answered her, looking back over his shoulder, “So, yeah, you’re alive, I’m alive, what now?”

Mana stepped out of her room, “Not food for once, I just pigged out from my stash. Wanna come for a walk with me? Need to clear a few cobwebs.”

John just nodded, still absentmindedly playing with his lighter, this nothing new to Mana, she was easily able to ignore it, the walk down to the foyer staircase a quiet one, until Mana asked where Swann was, and received an unexpected answer, “I actually don’t know, Mana, I separated from her earlier. Not sure where she went off to.”

It still amazed the older girl at how mature her foster brother sounded. No one would ever guess he had once been a seriously angry, stubborn, borderline scary teenager. Love had changed him beyond the better. She just nodded, reaching for the banister, glancing down, and catching a glimpse of two people she didn’t know, thinking how odd it was so many new ones always turned up.

“Guess we should be the courteous welcomers, huh, Pyro?” Mana asked him, grinning at the confused look on his face, til he saw the newcomers, he too unsure of who in the world they were, considering he’d arrived at the same time as Mana and his Wife.

“Yeah, guess so,” the suggestion in his tone more like, “Do we have to?” he followed her down the stairs, Mana’s warm smile not an easy thing to ignore.

“Heya, I’m Mana, how ya going? Welcome to the school, and I do apologise if either of you have been here for a while, cos, yeah, well, I haven’t met ya’s yet,” she greeted, elbowing John in the ribs, his look of “Hey!” almost making her chuckle.

“Yeah, hey, I’m John, or Pyro, like she said, welcome to the school,” Pyro added, returning the elbow in the ribs, grinning at her.

OOC: Still active! I'm Marina, thanks for the welcome! :D

IC:

Why was that awful music still playing. It made her head ache from the noise of it, her pretty little face was twisted into a rather unattractive grimace and she was trying to ignore it. Still, her supersonic hearing kept trumping everything, making her really want to jam her claws into Mez. The only thing really stopping her was that she would not and could not EVER get blood on the file in her hand.

The file was concealed in a manilla envelope; there was scrawlings on all open space, files, lab workups and psychological evaluations were stacked neatly inside but worn from years and years of different doctors referancing them. Each document told the sordid tale of her life, the needles, death, pain and heartache. They relayed the beatings, the days of starvation but above all, the pleading of a young child to know about the ways of the world. That child was here now, standing at the doors of the only place that could help her. Even as a trained killer, her heart leapt.

Stepping in, she was immediately greeted by two enthusiastic people that she had smelled and heard before they even knew she was there. One smelled nice, like a subtle flower...and the other reeked of burning. X-23 gripped her file closer as she stared at them, her dark hazel eyes darting back and forth. “Heya, I’m Mana, how ya going? Welcome to the school, and I do apologise if either of you have been here for a while, cos, yeah, well, I haven’t met ya’s yet,” “Yeah, hey, I’m John, or Pyro, like she said, welcome to the school,”

For several moments she studied their faces, looking for something...anything in them that might cause her harm. Finally she straightened her back, reaching her full height of a whopping 5ft (far shorter than everyone present) and nodded her head. "Karika Yashida." She said, pointing her to chest. "Here now." She pointed to her spot where she was standing, trying to explicate in her broken English that she had only just arrived here...

And failing miserably. Pointing to her companion, she let out a slight sigh. "Mez." It was important to her now to try and make conversation, so she pressed her hands to her ears and then pointed quite enthusiastically at his Ipod. "Bad music." Noticing that they were watching her, she stepped back almost nervously...X-23 did not show fear. She just was. And if they took her nerves as fear, she'd bleed them all.

OOC: MANA!

*takes snapshot of Marina*

...I've heard rumors of Jewish folk walking down Kaiau Avenue...never met one...don't see too many in Hawaii.

I'm a cat-lyck.

IC:

"Mine" Said Mez pointing to his Ipod, there were a lot of things he could tolerate but one of them wasn't someone he didn't know telling him his music was bad."Only mine" He finished quoting Karika.

"Hey, have I seen you two before?" Mez asked putting forth his right hand, for a dap. "I don't know maybe I'm just crazy" Mez said lookin at the both of them. As he spoke the song changed once more to the music of Marvin Gaye. The young man looked at Karika and smiled. "If you don't like this then nothing can save you." He said as "Your Precious Love" began to play.

"Karika here isn't exactly a big fan of Tupac" Mez said with a smile.

Mez didn't make much of what her power was beside claws. She either was telepathic or had acute hearing, in a place like this Mez saw no reason to feel alarmed, he felt home in a strange place with people he never met before. "Yup" Mez said turning back his head. "This is place is so nice it has to be criminal, I feel like this is home. But of course, there aren't too many places that allow people such as I to live comfortably."

Re: "Daddy's" Little Girl
It was obvious to Mana this new girl wasn’t one to give too much away, deducing it would probably take time to earn her respect and her friendship. At her mention of bad music, the pyrokinetic healer looked a little confused, unlike X-23, there was no enhanced hearing to be heard of in Mana’s mutation, as handy as it would be at times.

“I have no idea what he is listening to,” she said, shrugging, “Personally, Metallica and Nickelback are more my style, but hey, each to there own.”

A glint in his eye, remembering the times he and Mana had head banged the night away to some of that music, Pyro nodded, “Yeah, totally. Whatever he’s listening to I am probably not into,” he teased, jokingly.

”Maybe,” Mana answered, shaking his hand, “but I have never seen you before,” her attention turned back to the young girl, “Ok, so, I know this place like the back of my hand… where do you need to go?”

~In the meantime, your foster brother is bored,~ Pyro thought, Mana throwing him a disapproving glance, *Keep those sorts of thoughts to yourself, FM,* she admonished, for only his mind to hear.
