Re: Olympia: Stern Hallways/Rogue/Tags:Gambit,Chamber,etc
~Engineering Section~

Mystique's warnings - she had no idea what Cyclop's abilities was, but his suitably ominious looking visor surely played a role in it - and recurrant playback of Chamber's attack on Sabretooth had put the two mutants into quite the fearful and maleable state, just as Magneto had wanted. She stared at them with cold pity as they clung to each other in wonderment, for it would be her task to mold them into beings who would learn to stand up for themselves and claim what was rightfully theirs as the superior species. "Such a tedious but necessary task", she sighed inwardly to herself while keeping to a calm, continance.

Still, the words and gestures from both Chamber and now Scott & Nightcrawler were having an effect, for as Felicia continued to bury her head into Andrea's neck the man himself was looking towards them.

"We have killed no one"

"Perhaps, ..." he uttered. "Perhaps, we should..." His eyes followed the other mutants, his right arm beginning to unwrap itself from around Felicia.

"We belong anywhere fear and misunderstanding place lives in danger," he said, Mystique included only peripherally as he spoke to the two frightened mutants. "We're here only to help. I've never used my powers on a living soul."

"Please," he said, "I know you have no reason to trust us, or anyone, but we all need to get out of here. I give you my word, we will not harm you."

"He speaks the truth," an unexpected voice resounded through the Engineering section. Levitating a foot off the ground, Magneto glided in through the hole he had created, following the hovering rescue pods, and settled down. "I'm sorry," he said, turning his head to the two mutants as he remained standing. "But with the state you were in it was necessary to put you into this condition, to make you - receptive to my words. You were out of control. Mystique was acting on my behest."

"You!!" Andreas shouted, more from a state of shock twinned with recognition. He curled his lips angrily but remained quiet, fighting to cross his arms as Felicia clung to them.

"The X-Men are not mutant hunters. They believe that as humanities new generation, that the old order can be persuaded to live peacefully, with those who will one day replace them."

He held his palm outwards.

~A few tens of feet away, Gyrich's team had been assembling towards the mutants, weapons ready as they clung to the shadows and secret places. They had succeeded in going unnoticed by the others, but a part of Mystique's and Sabretooth's earlier preparations had been to scatter observation drones and other sensors along any likely routes to engineering. One or two had tripped, silently alerting Magneto. It was all he required for his bit of stagecraft to follow.~

-- sorry, Gyrich: doing this for dramatic effect. Story trumps reason. Since the effect is on the weapon, not the soldier, the mans' personal power neutralizer will not come into play --

~Suddenly one of the guns in a soldier's arms whined to life, its red targeting dot activating as the gun twisted in the man's arms to point towards Magneto.~

~Engineering Section~

A red dot formed and focused on Magneto's outstretched palm, and he held it out for the other mutants to examine.

"I, however, am not so foolish! Nor should any of you be!" he practically shouted, clenching his fist. As he did so the weapon pulled from the soldier's arms as it lept through the air to a point in front of Magneto, before clattering noisily to the floor. "They will NEVER leave us alone!"

//Note: the soldier whose weapon was torn out of his hands is just barely visible due to his movements, however given the environment and distance (40+ feet) and line of sight obstructions, etc, only the first two people who respond to this will be able to interact with the soldier, and if the first person is Gyrich he can have him pull back out of sight//

Evo saw the soldier and Magneto with the man's gun, but he chose not to attack. "As long as they see us as a threat, no. We need to prove that our powers can help, not just hurt.We aren't superior to others because of our powers any more than a blind man is inferior to a sighted man simply because he lacks a sense. It is how we use what we have that makes us superior or inferior, not that we have something extra. We're still humans, still able to see, hear, taste, smell, and feel, including pain. I hurt every time I use my powers, but I still use them to help others. That makes me better by far than a human or mutant who sees someone in need, and sees only something he can use as a weapon. Remember Martin Luther King Jr was as human as Hitler. Both chose to be what they are, but both are also as human as any. We need to show them how our powers can heal, not prove by hurting them that our powers make us stronger. Choose your path wisely, I ask only that." Then, he grw silent, looking over to where the soldier was, and smiling as he added, "Humans have the right to protect themselves from mutants who would hurt them. I ask only that we prove we aren't that kind of mutant."

Re: Olympia: Stern Hallways/Logan/Tags: Open

As he descended the many flights of stairs and maneuvered almost effortlessly through the damaged and debris-filled passageways, Wolverine landed at the base of a stairwell on the Engineering level. He immediately froze, his expression still serious as his eyes slowly scanned the area, his nose picking up all kinds of scents. They had a lot of company down here and the scent of gun oils and carbines made him sneer an evil grin.

He moved out slowly; half-listening to Magneto's speech, tracking down the scent of a group of humans nearby. As he came to a corner, Wolverine peered around it and his eyes narrowed at the soldiers in his line of sight; crouching, hiding in ambush. He quickly took note that one was unarmed and seemed a bit surprised, even as he heard the man's weapon clank to the ground about 40 feet away.

Wolverine moved quietly; like a shadow, from years of training to come up behind the unarmed soldier. Coming up behind the man, he wrapped one arm around the man's neck, pinning him against his chest and growled in his ear.

"What's S.H.I.E.L.D. doin' here?" he asked, his voice barely back to recognizable and not really caring for the answer he pushed the soldier out into the open; using him as a shield of his own and Wolverine grinned at the irony. He quickly took in everyone's positions and accessed they were in the middle of some kind of standoff. There were alot of players in this game.... he held his hostage close, not sure who he trusted less - Magneto and his henchmen or S.H.I.E.L.D.

"What the hell's goin' on here??" he demanded with a snarl; his own wounds almost completely healed although his skin was bright red as the tissue continued to heal from the intense burns he received not long ago and he looked like he'd been through the wringer.

It was at this point that Gambit reached the section of the stern previously drawing him to it; the noises too loud to be missed; the Cajun too curious and concerned to just turn around and walk away.

He stopped, eyes wide at the sight of a very angry looking Logan, his gaze falling on everyone else involved, narrowing in Magneto’s direction, automatically assuming the worst, wondering who in the world the soldiers were, but most of all, moving to block his team’s path, glancing back over his shoulder.

Non one be gettin’ hur’ und’r mah watch,” he emphasised, “Yo’ll be stayin’ behin’ me,” the order was firm, final, and meant.

::It be lookin’ like de Wolv’rine be getting’ a s’rious beatin’ fr’m de mutan’ cat,:: the Cajun thought, hoping the fact Logan was there meant Sabretooth hadn’t gotten out of the confrontation between the two at all.

Re: Olympia:Theatre/Creed/No Tags
Quote:
As Logan lifted the giant over the railing his forward momentum had been disrupted as Creed reached out to anchor himself to a light fixture just over his head, but the move did work. The Wolverine leaned over the safety rail at the enemy below; he could almost taste the fear rolling of the mutant dangling above the conflagration below.

He sneered an animalistic grin, then vaulted over the railing to land on Sabretooth's shoulders. There he sat, as if riding piggy back; one arm wrapped around Creed's throat and the other repeatedly sinking it's claws into the mutant's ribcage.

Then he began shaking the man in an effort to dislodge his hold on the broken fixture, throwing his body back and forth in an attempt to use his own weight to make the man fall...

He climbed up over Creed's head and jumped back onto the catwalk...

Wolverine raced down the ship's stairwells, vaulting over debris again as he made his way straight toward the Engineering Section that he had left earlier.
Now the cat was beyond angry, he was fuming, an almost unnatural glow to his eyes, the fear of the fire forgotten, the pain from the Wolverine null and void under an exterior now just wanting to grab the man and tear him limb from limb.

No mercy. No hesitation. No holding back.

It was time to show his adversary just what he was capable of. It was time to truly end this once and for all, or die trying.

No way would he give in to a fear that gave Logan that much satisfaction, the sneer on his face, that smile, bringing new meaning to the word endurance, as Creed reached up, grabbed the rope with his other hand, and, dripping blood, feet burning underneath him, slowly began to pull himself back up.

He followed that scent he wanted to make dead so much; followed it the entire length of the rope, jumped over to it on the walkway, sniffed further for it as he walked, jogged, and then began to run.

Sabretooth was well and truly ready to let the mutation he was known for come fully to the fore. He was a cat, he had a territory to guard, and a certain mutant was within boundaries belonging to him.

Rivalry was such a pleasant sweet thing.

Living up to his reputation was very important.

Killing the Wolverine was theonly... thing...thatmattered.

Chamber stared at Mystique through all of this. He wasn't about to 'say' anything. He couldn't believe that after all this trouble these two mutants were listening to this woman, if woman she was. He couldn't really tell though.

Glancing at the others, he sort of shrugged.

*Hmm, why believe thise? They should give all the benefit of a doubt. I wasn't trying to kill no one.*

His gaze moved toward more commotion wondering what now.

Scarlet Witch:

Scarlet Witch sighed at that. All the trouble for these two and they wary, fearful of them.

"Whatever." she said turned away from them. Her glances were contemptious as if to say, you don't want help, then why.

Her glance turned back as she shrugged again.

"~Why are we here anyway?"~

Karina:

She was staring at them all, wide eyed. The two mutants seemed interesting to her but things were a bit strange.

Her glance went to Gambit as if to ask what to do now? even as she saw more men.

Rogue's eyes grew wide as she saw everyone... It was a mess... She was so screwed... ~Oh, Gawd... Please don't make me go with them... Please don't let anyone else git hurt...~ she silently prayed, feeling quite guilty for leaving the Brotherhood... She felt that the only reason there was this fight between Sabretooth and Wolverine was her fault. That the whole thing was her fault.

But, she did as ordered by Gambit - she got behind him and tried to stay calm and focused. But, that was hard, especially when all she wanted to do was run away.

Gyrich's eyes narrowed behind his own 'visor' as he flicked off its nightvision capabilities and took in the scene before him. He quickly ID'd Felicia and Andreas, but the rest of the gathering was unfamiliar to him -- except for the highly-recognizable Magneto. Absorbing the mutant demogogue's words, he analyzed them along with the postures and positions of the various players, both known and unknown.

"Hold fast," came his quiet order over the commandos' comlink. "Alpha, Delta, Gamma, safe weapons but go blue. Omega, prep and hold." At his command, his men holstered their sidearms and activated their personal neutralizers. "Delta-Two, fall back if you can."

It was a scene he'd watched played out a dozen times before. Then it was usually some robed and bearded religious racist declaiming against the imperialist butchers of the Great Satan, but the general idea was the same. Ordinary grunts often fell right into it, but Delta Force didn't do ordinary. Besides, he needed to buy some time for Omega to get the ranged neutralizer lined up Magneto.

Holstering his own weapon, he stepped out into the open, hands palms-out and empty. "I'm prepared to take my men and leave right now," he said, his rumbling baritone booming clearly to the assembled mutants, "if you can guarantee me that your attacks on this ship and its passengers will cease. And," he glanced toward Wolverine and the mutant's prisoner, "you release my man."

OOC: 'Since the effect is on the weapon, not the soldier, the mans' personal power neutralizer will not come into play.' Since the neutralizers were explained to me as having only a limited operating time, Gyrich would have instructed his men to use them only at need, so it wouldn't have been active anyway.

Sorry for the late edit. I post from work, which means it can take hours from when I start a post to when I manage to finish and post it, and often other posts happen in the meantime.

Evo: "Humans have the right to protect themselves from mutants who would hurt them. I ask only that we prove we aren't that kind of mutant."

Scott nodded at Evo's words, adding his own. "We ask, too, that you not be that kind of mutant, but whether you devote your lives to helping or hurting is a choice only you can make. The road they offer is paved with fear, please, don't go down that way." Anger at the way Magneto had been and was terrorizing the two young people added to the passion in Scott's plea and brought his sincerity shining through.

He had only a moment, though, to offer up a silent inward prayer for hope prevailing before Logan appeared, seizing the disarmed commando and dragging him forward as a hostage.

"What the hell's goin' on here??" [Logan] demanded with a snarl; his own wounds almost completely healed although his skin was bright red as the tissue continued to heal from the intense burns he received not long ago and he looked like he'd been through the wringer.

Scott winced at the damage that had been done to the older mutant, even as he sent a second prayer winging after the first -- this one that whoever was leading the S.H.I.E.L.D. team had a cool head on his shoulders and a firm grip on his men. Out of the corner of his eye, Cyclops caught the arrival of Gambit, noting with approval as the Cajun motioned protectively for Karina, Wanda, and the others to hang back.

Motion from the direction of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team heralded the answer to at least one of his prayers as a big man, manifestly their leader, took the risk of stepping out into the open to parlay.

"I'm prepared to take my men and leave right now," he said, his rumbling baritone booming clearly to the assembled mutants, "if you can guarantee me that your attacks on this ship and its passengers will cease. And," he glanced toward Wolverine and the mutant's prisoner, "you release my man."

It was a more positive sign than Cyclops could've hoped for. He indicated Felicia and Andreas. "They'd be free to go?"

The man in black half shrugged assent. "I'm not a cop. My job's just to put a stop to this. How is my call."

Scott looked over at Logan, extending his hand. "A gesture of good faith?" he asked the older mutant.

"You didn't answer the question," Wolverine snarled. "Who're you anyway? Fury in charge of this operation?" he growled, pullin' his hostage into an awkward position; his hand gripping the man's throat high under his jaw. The hostage was bowed backward, with Wolverine's fist buried in his back just waiting for one wrong move. He glanced back and forth from one soldier to the next, expecting one of them to make a move. He had history with S.H.I.E.L.D. -- alot of history.

The man's offer was a more positive sign to Cyclops and he indicated Felicia and Andreas. "They'd be free to go?" Wolverine heard Summers ask.

The man in black half shrugged assent. "I'm not a cop. My job's just to put a stop to this. How is my call."

Scott looked over at Logan, extending his hand. "A gesture of good faith?" he asked the older mutant.

Wolverine looked at Scott with disbelief, knowing of course that the younger man didn't know the track record S.H.I.E.L.D had for double crossing any agreement if they saw a chance to gain the upper hand.

"Good faith?" Wolverine snarled, then glared at the S.H.I.E.L.D commander. "S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't show up simply to police the bad guys... they either are lookin' to gain somethin'... or they got a double agent workin' on the inside here. This ain't over by a longshot, Cyke. They don't get off that easy," he stared down the well-armed troops and emphasized the seriousness of his suspicion by yanking at his hostage, making the man grunt in discomfort. "You think they came here armed to the teeth and flew in under the radar just to give it up this easily? Cover's blown.. but the mission ain't over... is it?" he said, staring down the taller man.

Refusing to give up his suspicous nature as easily as Scott, Wolverine glared at the soldiers' commander. "Do ya' think he didn't know the X-Men were on board?" he asked Scott. "S.H.I.E.L.D. don't make a move without knowin' the playin' field an' who all the players are, ain't that right?" he sneered at Gyrich. "So what's yer part in this? Spill it... or I spill his guts all over the deck."

Re: Olympia:Stern/Karina, Wanda/Tags:Rogue,Chamber,etc
~ Jonah's Whale ~

Loud thumping noises could be heard commencing from the area of the lounge bathroom, accompanied by a seemingly endless stream of pained and disbelieving oaths. Finally, the door which was wedged closed forced its way inwards, and hands could be seen lashing out at the base of the obstructions blocking the way out.

"Eeeeaauugghh!!" came a screamed reply when a fist hit an upturned couch the wrong way, and in the doorway a shadowed figure could be seen hopping up and down, one hand holding the other gingerly.

After a moment of silence, both hands reached for the upper frame of the door, and feet lashed out with much better success at the tangle of heavy furniture. Three or four good, well placed kicks later, the pile had been reduced to skewed or splintered bits in one location, and an ugly wart-filled figure leapt out, scrambling quickly for the control room.

"Magneto! There has been an intruder!!" Toad screamed at the monitor.

~ Olympia: engineering section ~

Magneto had been watching with feigned disinterest as bickering commenced betwixt S.H.I.E.L.D. and Wolverine, and - was it, Scott? That stuffy boy from Professor Xavier's stuffy old mansion. They deserved each other, it seemed. It almost made him chortle in a low voice, but in its place he contented himself with a bemused expression. He turned to Mystique, twitching an eyebrow before letting his expression fall on the face of Felicia Morgan.

Ever alert, Mystique held the clue gracefully as she lowered herself to her knees and spoke in a low voice to Felicia. Her words may have escaped to a few with especially good hearing but it did not matter.

"This is what you face, Felicia, honey, if you go with them. But we are not like that, we take what is rightfully ours and live apart, free from these fools in a place of our own choosing. Of course the choice is yours, but live with them and they will always be watching you."

"And it is such a life you live here, on the ship - with all those fat and balding German businessman looking for an escape from their snooty disapproving Fraus, and those lovely twentysomething boys from Brixton - what was it you said earlier, them with their wonderful hands on open bar night?"

"You can do better. We ... have a saying. With great power comes great opportunity. Its yours, girl. Take it!" Mystique said, placing her hands palm down on Felicia's own.

Felicia glanced up at Mystique, then up further at the open hatch of the rescue pod floating above and behind them. She pulled Andrea's arm, forcefully, towards her.

Suddenly Magento's head jerked up explosively, with a pained look.

Karina:

Karina stared at Felicia and them all, her head cocked to one side. Her gaze now fell completely on Felicia.

"So, why would they want to join with her," and Karina's head jerked in Mystique's direction. "Is it because she got to you first or is it something else. "

Karina couldn't understand what Mystique was up to. Was it something not good or good? Would Felicia benefit more by going with her or with them.

"I haven't been with these people all that long but they look trustworthy. I mean, Mystique, that name sounds kind of mysterious and for me, I wouldn't want to go with a person who has a mysterious kind of name. I would rather go with someone I know. But it's up to you." she finished, shrugging her shoulders.

"Though I haven't met you and your friend for all that long, I can tell that I would like to be your friends."

Scarlet Witch:

Wanda stared at Felicia and her companion and sniffed. Things were wierd as it was. And all they did, to find these two, they may decide to go with that Mystique person. How unfair.

Wolverine heard Mystique's plea of feigned compassion for the young girl and turned his head slightly to sneer at her while continuing to hold onto his unwilling charge.

"Raven... yer so full o' shit. Since when do you care about anyone or anythin' that couldn't benefit you in some way?" Then he turned his gaze on the young couple that had attracted so much attention, addressing his words to the young girl in particular, as she seemed to be the one "in charge".

"Listen to me, kid... you think you got problems now? You go with them, you'll find yerself in a world o' hurt. They choose to live "apart" cuz they refuse to compromise with the rest o' society. That what you want? To live under the rule of one man?" he asked, throwing a glare at Magneto. "We don't watch yer every move... but we will watch yer back," he informed her sincerely. Then he sneered at Mystique again, "You wouldn't know 'loyalty' unless there's profit to be made or position to be gained... that's yer version o' loyalty, to the rest of us it's just a bunch o' backstabbers waitin' for their moment," he said, holding Raven's cold stare, then his eyes flicked to the young girl again. "That's what you'll get with The Brotherhood... you do it their way or they get rid o' ya', for good. You ready to be a slave to the likes o' them? Or you wanna have a chance at a real life? One with purpose..."

Then Logan paused with a thought and pierced the girl's gaze with his own, "See where we are? You... and us? Magneto an' the Brotherhood on one side... the likes o' S.H.I.E.L.D. on the other.... an' us caught in the middle, tryin' to bridge the gap. You want a future, kid? The X-Men can offer you a chance at one, believe me, I know. We'll watch yer back, kid... all the way."

Spill it... or I spill his guts all over the deck."

The X-Men, Gyrich thought, unfazed by the stocky mutant's glare. Interesting. They'd vanished from the scene some years back and were generally believed to be defunct. Then again, the only one of them who seemed to actually be present was Wolverine. The other mutants, except for Magneto and his female associate, were too young. Just kids, really, though the one with the odd red-slitted mask appeared a little older.

Whether S.H.I.E.L.D. had anticipated their presence was something Gyrich would take up with the paramilitary spy organization later. Young or old, he hadn't known they'd be here, but there was no percentage at the moment in revealing that fact.

"I've told you my objective," the big commando said. "Ending this carnage." Mindful that red-eye was apparently called 'Psych,' which implied some sort of mental powers, he kept himself chiefly to the truth. It wasn't difficult -- he preferred it as, unlike S.H.I.E.L.D., he'd found maintaining a reputation for trustworthiness more useful in the long run than the short-term gains of treachery. And he was willing to let the mutant couple go. They were small fish and Magneto was a shark. A shark he’d have to fight to get to them anyway, and a shark that was going to take all his resources, if not more. Not to mention peeling away as many of the mutant villain's resouces as he could.

Gyrich swiveled his head to stare down Wolverine, though he knew his own eyes were invisible. "I want my man back alive. But if saving the civilians aboard this ship requires going through him, we will do that and he knew that going in. He's useless to you as a hostage. You kill him and you do so out of spite. The X-Men were never known for cold-blooded murder. They were never known for murder at all. Then again ..." he let a tinge of disappointed rebuke enter his voice, "they were never known for carrying Magneto's water, either."

Then the mutants were bickering among themselves and he signalled his men to stand ready, but hold for his signal.

Scott winced inwardly as that barb struck home. Though he knew intellectually that the commando team leader was deliberately trying to drive wedges into the mutant ranks, his words had a painful edge of truth. A truth especially cutting when compared with Magneto's treachery.

A truth that had ramifications he would have to deal with later. Right now, he had his own objective ... joining his voice to those trying to save the lives of the two frightened young people at the center of all this.

"Do you need to make others feel small so you can feel big?" he asked softly, when Wolverine had finished. "Because that's the drug they're offering. It's as addictive as cocaine and will rot you out inside just as surely."

Re: Olympia:Stern/tags Gyrich and Mystique

Logan calculated Gyrich's response; his respirations, scent and the smallest muscle twitches; his determination was that the commando was telling him the truth... or was a very skilled liar. Loosening his grip for the soldier's throat he pushed his hostage forcefully away, toward his leader, still staring at Gyrich.

"Yer right," he then admitted, "we don't commit murder an' we don't carry a drop o' Magneto's water. Looks like we got the same mission." With that said he turned toward Mystique again. "Yer lookin' mighty dapper for a terrorist. A bit overdressed for a siege, Raven, dontcha think? Or is it just a natural occurrence to lose yer sense o' taste when hangin' out with him?" Logan taunted, indicating Magneto with a sharp nod toward the Master of Magnetism.

Evo looked over the group talking and sighed. "Seems to me these two might just want to be left alone. If that's it, then the X-men are also the way to go. We may not be the old X-men, but we can still be trusted to be hoinest with each other. Magneto, though, he cameto us and said he just wanted to help you two nothing more, and now he's letting Mystique, or Raven, whatever her name is, try to get you to work with him against humans, people who are helpless compared to a mutant with even the slightest useful power. Which choice would you rather make?"

Magneto was momentary distracted as he held his head at a slight cant, as if listening closely to some inner voice. After a moment he uttered a quiet, clipped command: "Secure the Whale and bring it here."

~ Jonah's Whale ~

High intensity recessed lights flicked on and off repeatedly, washing the ceiling and walls with a repeated momentary brightness although their origin could not be discerned. Within seconds, reenforced panels slid over doorways and sensitive areas, and as they did so, the strobe effect continued but changed from white to red, bathing walls and ceiling alike in a crimson hue. A changing series of chimes sounded throughout the process.

Outside, the effect was more spectacular, as the water caressing the back of the Whale welled outwards revealing a gleaming white surface as it rose with a thunderous roar or engines, the craft rotating somewhat to fix on the Olympia. Streams of water cascaded from underneath, thudding with a heavy impact on the sea as ballast tanks emptied and the craft became airborne. On its curved surface numerous rounded hatches could be made out. At its front, banks of light came on, illuminating all with a million candlepowers of pure whiteness.

The Jonah's Whale was flying. In a handful of precious moments, the craft and its inescably bright lights would draw near to the Olympia.

"So, why would they want to join with her," and Karina's head jerked in Mystique's direction. "Is it because she got to you first or is it something else."

"Perhaps," Felicia said with an enigmatic smile.

"Though I haven't met you and your friend for all that long, I can tell that I would like to be your friends."

She took in the assembled mutants: Wolverine with his claws, ready to tear that man to shreds, Cyclops with his visor and purported mental condition, that fuzzy blue whateveryoucallit ... it was just too much. Felicia rolled her eyes, questioningly, before looking back to Magneto who, like Mystique, was also dressed fashionably and in what looked like a High Street business suit, complete with studded walking stick and muted golden cufflinks.

"Listen to me, kid...That's what you'll get with The Brotherhood... you do it their way or they get rid o' ya', for good. You ready to be a slave to the likes o' them? Or you wanna have a chance at a real life? One with purpose..."

Magneto's grip on his walking stick tightened, visibly.

"See where we are? You...

"Do you know what it means to be a slave, Wolverine?" Magneto asked with quiet intensity. "Yes, of course you do, I forgot. Perhaps we could entertain each other with our mutual distrust of governments, and why we need to set ourselves apart! Felicia and Andreas would find that quite interesting now that they have entered our station in life, wouldn't you say so?"

He slowly unbuttoned his shirtsleeve, carefully placing the cufflink in his breastpocket before unrolling his sleeve to expose a faded blue tatoo - a sequence of numbers. "I got this, at Auswitch. My body was young and strong back then, so it fell to me to pull the bodies from the gas chambers and load them into the crematoriums, and hence shovel their ashes when the work was done. We were starved, and whipped and hit with rifle butts, if we tarried in our task."

"The state we grew up with placed us there, and the country we looked to for our succor, was unceasing in its destruction of railways in northern France and oil facilities in the Ruhr, but spared not one bomb to delay the daily trainloads of human cargo bound for our camps."

"I would NEVER make another my slave, NEVER!" he said in a choked, hoarse whisper. "And I swore to do everything in my power to prevent that." He turned to Wolverine. "I am sorry, Wolverine, that my power was too distant, my knowledge too uncertain to spare your sorrows when you were in need." With a new fire in his voice he announced "If we use people, it is only those fools and their agents who would just as soon take advantage of us!"

Wolverine glanced away from her, to check on the position of Gyrich and his men and asked over his shoulder, "What's it gonna be, Felicia? Us?.... Or them?"

With a hesitant but suddenly determined look, Felicia stood up, grabbing at Andrea's arm. "No, I would like to hear more, first," he said, responding to her earnest pulling.

With a sigh, she release his arm and said to him "So, you like that people pat me on the buns and feel my breasts, do you? Well, I want more that that, much, much more."

With a disgusted look, she turned to Wolverine and flatly stated "Your mother dresses you funny," before she stuck her tongue out in his direction. Turning around with a sigh, she climbed into the two person rescue pod immediately behind her. As she did so, a loud roar could be heard, building in intensity.

"...The X-Men were never known for cold-blooded murder. They were never known for murder at all. Then again ..." he let a tinge of disappointed rebuke enter his voice, "they were never known for carrying Magneto's water, either."

"Perhaps it is because they don't trust you, either. I can't imagine why," Magneto interjected.

He paused while Gyrich's words sunk into Wolverine and he, in turn, released the hostage.

"Whatever it is you are planning," Magneto addressed to Gyrich, "you had better make sure it never leaves the planning stages." he said loudly, raising his voice to be heard over the roar of his craft as the entire area became brilliantly, harshly lit by the Jonah's Whale front exterior lights. "My craft carries nuclear warheads. You might recognize them," he said, raising his head as now a high wind swept through the area courtesy of the Whale's reverse thrusters. "They are the warheads the new government of the Ukraine was about to sell to the U.S., as they began to dismantle their arsenal. Your congress, however, had higher uses for the money so they fell onto the black market. To prevent their use on Tel Aviv or New York, I prevailed in the negotiations. Perhaps you heard about that crash of that Iranian jetliner some months ago?"

Turning around, he said flatly: "Someone has to keep the world safe, now don't they?" Turning again to face Gyrich, he asked "Does that make me a hero in your eyes?"

"No, I suppose it doesn't."

"Seems to me these two might just want to be left alone. If that's it, then the X-men are also the way to go. We may not be the old X-men, but we can still be trusted to be honest with each other. Magneto, though, he cameto us and said he just wanted to help you two nothing more, and now he's letting Mystique, or Raven, whatever her name is, try to get you to work with him against humans, people who are helpless compared to a mutant with even the slightest useful power. Which choice would you rather make?"

Andreas smiled at Evo's kind words, moving his body slightly to take them in above the all-encompassing noise.

Storm let out a surprised gasp as the ship started to move. It took quiet a bit to stay on her feet. Realizing where it was going she tilted her head, "What on earth is Eric up to?" she said as it came closer to the ship.

Lifting herself up slightly, she touched down onto the other, having no idea what was going on. Making her way around the boat, she heard voices and followed them down.

Stopping in the doorway, she frowned, "Well this is interesting." she sighed.
