As the name indicates...this RPG will revolve around Crossroads and New Beginnings.CrossroadsWe would like to see characters come to a 'crossroads' in their lives where important and life changing decisions have to be made. These events can be very personal...i.e. a relationship beginning, ending or changing, or they can be moral or spiritual. Whatever is decided, they should show 'growth' for your character.New BeginningsThis can be any number of items as well and most likely will relate back to the 'crossroads' in your character(s)' life or lives and/or career. They may be starting a new career as teacher or student at Xavier's School for the Gifted or may have been selected to train for the upcoming X-Men team(s). Their 'new beginning' once again may be as simple as establishing a new relationship or changes in an old one.

Without turning around, [Crow]nodded, and signaled for him to follow.
Apparently, the nullifier was no longer functioning, Gyrich noted as the girl changed forms while inside what should have been its effective radius. Well, it had been nice while it lasted. And if the other mutants -- especially Storm or the one who fired that laser beam out of his eyes -- figured it was still working, he wasn't going to disabuse them of the idea.
Boosting himself out of the hole and into a shoulder roll, he came to his feet in an open area. To one side, a wall set with sturdy-looking windows and pierced in the middle by an even sturdier-looking door cut the disk of the upper saucer approximately in half. Toward the front of the vessel was an open area that the windows looked out upon. Toward the back, on his side of the wall, were the dais, what looked like an elevator, bulky equipment, and several control consoles.
Excellent. To work. Unslinging his MP5, he flipped the selector switch to three-round burst and fired into the nearest console.

Cyclops and Nightcrawler appeared on the upper surface of the Whale's main disk in almost exactly the same place Gyrich had mere moments before. Giving the exhausted teleporter's shoulder a squeeze that was part thanks and part apology, he began jogging up the slight incline toward the conning tower. Halfway there, Storm's gentle voice spoke in his head.
~We have two more civilians on board, Cyclops.~
~Understood,~ he replied. ~Status?~
Reaching the conning tower, he circled around it and came to a surprised halt at the sight of the hatch. Or part of the hatch. An approximately man-sized part of it was gone, to judge by the charring blown away by the explosion he'd heard, but there was no sign of the twisted shards that should have been there. Then he realized that, even as he watched, he could see it growing back.
A moment later, the sound of gunfire echoed down the tower from above.
Re: Olympia: Outer hull/top deck/Storm *tag* Logan, LaTrina"Who or what is that?" LaTrina asked pointing a shaking finger at him, her gaze moving to Storm. That woman didn't seem fearful. In fact she seemed nice enough.
Logan scowled at the girl, not exactly thrilled with her choice of words.
"LaTrina! Where are your manners. You do not talk like that to strangers." Mrs. Adams admonished her daughter. LaTrina hung her head, embarressed at her outburst. Mrs. Adams looked over at Logan and smiled a smile filled with apology.
"I am sorry for my daughter's outburst. It was unintentional, believe me." she said. Then turned to Storm. "What is going on here? Where's the fighting?" she asked.
"Well," Logan began to explain, taking the questions in order from the beginning, throwing a mild glare at the younger female, "my name's Logan, this is Ororo, that takes care o' the 'who' part o' yer question. The 'what' part I'll just leave open to entertain yer imagination." Then he turned to face the young girl's mother and answered as he walked past her to find out the answer to her second question. "What's goin' on is this cruise ship was targeted for attack, by whom we're not sure, an' by the sounds o' the fightin' I'd say it's moved to a different locale, so you won't hafta worry much longer. You'd better find a way off this ship."
LaTrina kept looking at Logan out, her head down curious. He seemed so...so animal like almost. How did he ever end up like that? She dropped her eyes again, hoping he didn't catch those looks.
As he passed by 'mom' he caught the girl checking him out and trying to be covert about it, he simply scowled at her and kept walking.
Re: Olympia: Deck/Ro *tag* Cyke, Kurt,latrina/mom,logan
Storm said nothing but offered a smile, "We can get you to a place of saftey if you trust us."
~We're on the deck of the Olympia. There are two. A mother and daughter.~ she thought back to Cyclops.
"Come with us. You'll be alright for now. Come." she motioned to the women. "Now then, mind telling us your names?" she looked around to make sure no one was following.
"What Logan has said is correct. This ship has been attacked, as well as some of it's passangers. We are here to try to get the passengers to saftey. That would include you too." she explained.
Re: Olympia: Outer hull/top deck/LaTrina *tag* Logan,Storm
LaTrina looked away, not wanting to seem so blunt anymore though her eyes did raise to watch Logan pass. He still seemed so...so rude now.
Her gaze went to the woman, Ororo, she called herself,
"Um, I'm LaTrina. And I think there was a wounded guy back the way I came. He might be gone, I don't know." she said.
Mrs. Adams gasped at that,
"Attacked? But--But? Why? There was nothing of interest on board except..." and her words sort of pittered out. Her glance at her daughter was overt but quick.
Could they know about her? About LaTrina's special ability? Mrs. Adams hoped not. She looked from Logan to Ororo.
"Did whoever was attacked get away?"
As she asked that, Mrs. Adams placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder, pulling her to her side. Things got more suspicious but she would go with these two while watching them all the while.
"LaTrina stay, by me." Mrs. Adams said. And there was suspicion within her voice.
LaTrina looked at her mother then at the two, confused.
"Mom?"
"No mom, I can't trust these two. They might harm you because of what you are."
LaTrina shut up, staring at the two but staying close to her mother.

Pressing down the last key, Gambit looked up, relieved to see all those under his command moving to follow his order so swiftly. Time was a wasting, and soon Remy felt there would be…
“COUNTDOWN, TEN MINUTES, EVACUATE SHIP IMMEDIATELY! COUNTDOWN, 10 MINUTES!” the extremely loud and sudden metallic voice caused the Cajun to literally jump, pulling the disc from its mooring and pushing the others out the door.
Wanda was standing by to destroy something, Remy moving back in to grab her. “Dere be non need, Cher, de man be pressin’ de sel’ d’struct fr’m de comfo’t o’ miles away, now yo’ be movin’ outta ‘ere.”
Hoisting the injured crewman over his shoulder, face contorted in the effort it took considering he had healing wounds and bruises all over his body, Remy made sure the others were all rushing ahead of him, and each time he almost caught up, the metallic warning sound caused a new spring of urgency in his step, his tone quick and authoritive, “Move dose butts, now!”
Minutes later they were on the deck, red-on-black eyes spotting Logan and Ororo, rushing over with the others in tow, “Yo’ be hearin’ dat, non? We gotta be movin’ now!”
“SELF DESTRUCT COUNTDOWN! YOU HAVE SEVEN MINUTES TO REACH MINIMUM SAFE DISTANCE!”
“Yo’ be hearin’ it now if yo’ no’ be b’fore!” Gambit yelled, concern in his eyes, subconsciously moving closer to where Rogue stood.
OOC: The section of the ship that will explode is the secret room and its surrounding areas, which will cause a chain reaction in certain areas, either way, the ship will start to sink, if this is okay with our plot master. It is the doing of the man on the phone, and all will be revealed eventually.
Re: Olympia: Top Deck/ Logan tags Storm, Gambit
"Yeh, I hear it," Logan snarled back. "So..." he paused in step and turned to the Cajun, "what exactly IS the minimum safe distance, Gumbo?" He was trying to think of how to get everyone off the ship, his face twisting in serious thought. He glanced at the young girl and her mother, then turned to him again and included Storm when he said, "We seem to still have survivors on this heap, what're we supposed to do about them? Just leave 'em?" Flipping a thumb to indicate their new guests he added, "Looks like they're comin' with us. Got any bright ideas?"
Whale: Outer Hull-Conning / Cyke / Tags: OpenA moment later, the sound of gunfire echoed down the tower from above.
~We're on the deck of the Olympia. There are two. A mother and daughter.~ [Storm] thought back to Cyclops.
Cyclops stopped swearing inwardly and sent to Storm, ~We'll do what we can. But right now the SHIELD team leader is in the upper disk.~ Unslinging the gun and cradling it to his chest so it didn't bang against the metal on either side, he slipped through the hatch/hole before contininuing. ~He's probably trying to disable the Whale, and I need your help to stop him.~
Scott glanced at the turbolift but discarded it just as quickly. Might as well hire a brass band to announce his arrival. Blessing the fact he was wearing sneakers, he returned the gun to his back and turned to the ladder.
As he began to climb, he was mentally reviewing the usual complement of the Tarawa-class airwing and their likely deployment in this situation. The twelve or so Sea Knights would be doing SAR. Each could carry upwards of two dozen troops and their gear, so a few should be able to evac the casualties on deck pretty quickly, with the rest beginning the 'search' part of 'search-and-rescue.'
Once they got word of the 'Empty Quiver,' which they should have by now, one or two of the heavy-lifting Sea Stallions would've lifted off to retrieve the warheads, with the Harrier fighter jets flying high cover. The Harriers would also likely have orders to 'discourage' the Whale's departure, and the armaments to back it up.
Scott sighed inwardly. ~Anything else I should know?~ he asked Storm.
OOC: My bad, the Tarawa carries 'Sea Knight,' not 'Sea King' SAR/ASW helicopters. That'll teach me to try to work from memory.
Re: Whale: Outer Hull-Conning / Cyke, Logan, Remy Gyrich?
Storm became more curious about the mother and daughter situation when a blaring noise caught her attention. Gambit came running like the hounds of hell were on his tail.
"What have you done?" Storm asked. Cringing automatically at the sound of gunfire. "Logan, Remy, get these two to the shore, they should be safe. Kurts here somewhere."
~Scott. The gunfire? Are you alright?~ she thought to him.
Narrowing her eyes she let out her version of a growl and ran to the other side of the ship where she heard the gunfire. Taking to the air, she found her powers were not leashed as before.
Landing on the deck of the whale she saw the hatch open. ~'Need me to help stop him? Very well I will do what I can. I am here.~ she thought to him again as she slipped in through the hatch.
Climbing quietly Storm grinned, ~Yes. I'm coming to get you. Somethings happened and I beleive the ship is going to blow up. It's not safe.~

The loud noise nearly made Chamber drop what he had. His 'glance' at Gambit made him more reassurred. He could trust Gambit and so he went off with him, following closely behind.
*Well, I don't like this one bit. Seems someone doesn't want much left to scrounge.*
He followed Gambit and nearly skidded to a stop before him, to see Ororo and Logan. He breathed a sigh of relief.
Re: Olympia: Secret Room-Deck/Karina,Wanda/Tags: Several
Karina:
Karina jumped at the sound and shuddered before she took off after Gambit. She wasn't about to wait for anything.
Scarlet Witch:
Wanda let out a growl of frustration before tossing a hex bolt back in the secret room. It sat there waiting for all to exit before it exploded/detonated/whichever.
Moving off and following Gambit, she caught up with Karina and happened to get a look at the girl's face. There was fear there. A fear for her life. With a mental shrug, Wanda stopped where Gambit had. Looking at the group and shaking her head.
"Good time to escape too. I would guess." she said.
Re: Olympia: Deck/Ro *tag* Cyke, Kurt,latrina/mom,logan
"Get 'em to shore??" Wolverine asked in total disbelief. "We're not even NEAR shore!" he shouted at her nearly roaring. He for one, couldn't swim a great distance due to the weight of adamantium and he doubted very much that the girl and her mother were trained as olympic swimmers. For that matter, he doubted any of the ones still on deck of the Olympia had grand skills as swimmers. "She left us," he turned to look at Gambit in total astonishment.
The ship was now being taken over by a dozen military aircraft, the roar of rotor blades and jet engines becoming deafening. Wolverine figured they only had minutes left and that wouldn't be enough time for Kurt to teleport everyone even two at a time as he was probably whipped already. Figuring the best they could hope for now was to get as far away from the blast site as possible he grabbed 'mom' with daughter in tow and headed for the bow. "Let's go, Cajun! Move it!" he ordered as he pulled the civilians to the far side of the ship. The last thing they needed now was for those air ships to open fire on them, but he knew that was a possibility also.
Making it to the bow section; the farthest point on board from Engineering, he ran straight to the over-turned life boats sitting in their stored positions and pushed the girl and her mother underneath, then started grabbing Gambit's team and pushing them under too. "This should give us cover from the gunships!" he yelled to Gambit, then the last of their charges were hidden and he prodded Gambit to get under and Logan followed, waiting for the ultimate explosion that would either obliterate them entirely or at least sink the ship. He hoped for the latter, cuz even a bucket this size wouldn't go under too quickly and hopefully that would buy him time to get a Plan B sorted out.
Re: Olympia: Deck/LaTrina/mom *tag* Cyke, Kurt,Ro,logan
Mrs. Adams yelled in shock when Logan grabbed her. She tried to fight him off, not wanting him to harm her daughter.
"Hey! What's the big idea?" she yelled first.
As for LaTrina, she didn't even feel Logan, when he grabbed her. She could sense the injured man that Gambit had. The light coming from him was so strong that she just had to do something.
Her mind sort of registered that someone was holding her. There was a sort of embarressed flush to her but the feeling of wanting to heal someone was even stronger and she started to struggle.
Mrs. Adams stopped her own struggles to start at her daughter, at her glazed eyes and realization came to her.
"You have to let LaTrina go. She...She has healing powers." the woman said, her voice soft, real low as if doubting she should have said that. She just hoped these people wouldn't try and hurt her daughter.
"Lemme go, somebody's hurt! I got to help them!" she screamed though she felt that though they/he heard her, he wasn't stopping.
The light coming from the injured person was so strong that LaTrina really started struggle, gaze on Gambit and the injured person wanting to help but couldn't. She went silent though her eyes remained where they were and they streamed tears. She just hoped he didn't die before she got to him.
Re: Whale: Conning Tower / Cyke / Tags: Storm~Scott. The gunfire? Are you alright?~ [Storm]thought to him.
~I'm fine,~ Cyclops replied, somewhat grimly. ~But I'm not sure the Whale is.~
A few moments later, Storm's mental voice came again, announcing her arrival. Looking down, he saw her slip in through the hatch with stealth worthy of a thief. Pausing in his own climb, he blessed the silence of this mode of communication.
Climbing quietly Storm grinned, ~Yes. I'm coming to get you. Somethings happened and I beleive the ship is going to blow up. It's not safe.~
~The Olympia?~ Cyclops felt the beginnings of a headache as an already complicated situation became positively byzantine -- and even more desperately urgent. ~We'll have to work fast, then. Stay under cover and, at my signal, drop the pressure in the enclosed section of the disk as fast and as low as you can, then keep it low until I signal you again.~
Spurred by the awareness of the danger to those not just aboard the Olympia but the fleet and miles around, he resumed his climb, all but scrambling upward.
Re: Whale: Conning Tower / Cyke / Tags: Storm
~Understood.~ 'Drop the pressure? How low does he intend for me to take it? Surely he knows what happens to the oxygen levels....' she shook her head.
~You do realize if I drop it low enough, the oxygen will be little to non existent. There will be little time to get out before one succumbs to unconsciousness?.~ she thought to him.
*I'm assuming Gyrich and Crow are the only ones going to be effected. It shouldn't effect Storm I would think. None of her other powers do.*
~Yes. The Olympia. Logan has the others.~
She cringed slightly at the thought of leaving them, but she couldn't abandon Scott. She had no idea what kind of blowing up would happen and if the Whale would be taken with it. Besides, her mentor was more then capable of caring for himself and others. She didn't want to step on toes.
Still, she hope they made it out in time. She was unaware of the helicopters and things that currently swarmed the Olympia.
Re: Whale: Conning Tower / Cyke / Tags: Storm~You do realize if I drop it low enough, the oxygen will be little to non existent. There will be little time to get out before one succumbs to unconsciousness?.~ [Storm] thought to him.
Cyclops sent back a mental nod. ~That's what I'm counting on. That, and the fact I'll know to hold my breath.~
As he neared the top of the ladder, Scott was relieved to see that the hatch at the top was open. Mixed with the relief, though, was a thread of fear. Beyond that hatch he would be going up against an elite veteran, a determined, lethal man who had to be stopped and subdued without being hurt or killed.
Re: Whale: Inside/Crow/ Tags G and Cyke
((Sorry this took so long, I've been flat with the flu for the past few days. Ugggh...))
Crow winced, furry ears flattening against her skull as Gyrich's shots rang out. Gunshots were loud to anyone’s ears, and to the tufted points she hadn’t yet discarded, they were doubly so. Fervently, she wished that the equipment he had ruined could also regenerate itself, just to spite him.
When the ringing finally subsided, Crow began to examine the craft, looking for anything she could salvage of even the remotest value. Hey, she wasn’t really in this for anything, but going home with a few extras would certainly sweeten the deal. Unfortunately, it seemed the area was far less high-tech than the ship below…and more Spartan, too. Crow gave a saddened sigh. There was simply nothing that she could steal here.
Her ears twitched as the faint, familiar noise of someone climbing the ladder below. She stalked silently over to the hatch, eyes swirling to an irritated red. If it was another of Gyrich’s men, she would have had to berate him for drawing her attention. If it was a crew member left behind, she’d simply eat them, or something. Arms folded over her chest, she stood at the edge of the hole, glaring down at the man who didn’t fit into either category. She met him with the classic “well?” look, although it probably would have been more effective if she didn’t have the furry ears, or mildly demonic eyes…

Behind his visor, Cyclops blinked in surprise, followed by a sudden stab of doubt and dismay. The young woman was obviously a mutant, and even more obviously not the man Scott needed to find. Had he mistaken the sound of her activities up here for his target's?
No, he realized an instant later, she had no gun. It reassured him that he hadn't badly miscalculated, but didn't answer any of the questions of who she was or how she figured into all of this. Those questions would have to wait, though, he thought as he boosted himself up to sit on the edge of the hole.
"Excuse me a minute, miss," Scott said, shifting the gun on his back around to rest in his lap. "I need to talk with your friend."
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Gyrich/Tags: Crow & Cyke
Gyrich hid a smile as the girl's furry ears laid flat at the sound of the gunshots. Then he began studying the room, determining what should be demolished next and how best to do it. There was was the elevator, what looked like the base of an antenna mast, and a couple of other consoles.
As always, on an op or not, he was intensely aware of his surroundings, and the faint scuff of a shoe on the ladder caught his ear. A glance at the girl showed it had caught hers -- which were still big and furry -- as well. Wearing an irritated expression, she strode over to glare down the hole. Gyrich made no effort to stop her, preferring to flatten himself against the other side of the elevator column and listen.
"Excuse me a minute, miss," Scott said, shifting the gun on his back around to rest in his lap. "I need to talk with your friend."
Ah. Gyrich recognized the voice. Red-eye. Cyke, or Cyclops one of the SEALs had overheard him called. He didn't bother to suppress another smile, this one at her likely reaction to him calling Gyrich her friend.

Background: Many, many years ago, Charles Francis Xavier established Xavier's School for the Gifted. Also, seeing other Mutants misusing and abusing their powers, he created the first generation of the X-Men.This original team was trained and lead by an old friend of his...Logan, aka Wolverine. Logan's co-leader was a young woman and student named Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Once the team was trained and fielded on active missions, they took on the additional responsibility of teaching and helping new Mutants deal with their powers. On one horrible night, the X-Men were fielded to stop a particularly powerful Mutant and his 'gang'. The 'intelligence' received on this Mutant and his cohorts was sketchy and actually turned out to be a set-up to entrap the X-Men and take them captive. In the ensuing melee', 'things' happened and a number of the team were killed outright or severely injured. After making sure his remaining team-mates were going to be okay, Logan left. Xavier has not, to current time, explained his absence or even whether or not he survived.Current Time/Game Time: Almost seven years later, as Human/Mutant incidents are on the rise, Xavier once again sees a need for a Mutant 'police force'. He sees this new X-Men team as a force for good and a way to help peacefully integrate the rapidly emerging Mutant society with the established Human society. To this end, he has contacted Logan and asked him to 'come home' and train his 'new' team.
Logan has reluctantly agreed. Can shadows from their past be put aside for the good of the new X-Men? How will the surviving members of the original team react and what will they do as 'truths' are learned about that disastrous night?Note: We want the new X-Men to include younger versions of the old familiar characters such as Scott, Jean, Beast etc...as well as many of the OCC’s and other Canon characters that are available. Please ask the Staff BEFORE stating or establishing that your character was one of the old, now disbanded, original X-Men.
