As the name indicates...this RPG will revolve around Crossroads and New Beginnings.CrossroadsWe would like to see characters come to a 'crossroads' in their lives where important and life changing decisions have to be made. These events can be very personal...i.e. a relationship beginning, ending or changing, or they can be moral or spiritual. Whatever is decided, they should show 'growth' for your character.New BeginningsThis can be any number of items as well and most likely will relate back to the 'crossroads' in your character(s)' life or lives and/or career. They may be starting a new career as teacher or student at Xavier's School for the Gifted or may have been selected to train for the upcoming X-Men team(s). Their 'new beginning' once again may be as simple as establishing a new relationship or changes in an old one.

If there was one thing Gambit hated it was following someone else’s orders. Even being under Scott had driven him insane, let alone being ordered around by an overgrown hairball! However, it was in, not only his, but those of his team’s best interest to follow Logan underneath the boat.
The usage of healing power from the new face in the group brought memories of the new friend he had made to the fore, only hoping she was safe. He’d lost contact with her sometime ago now, and he didn’t have the luxury of being able to go look for her, not when he was in control of so much.
~Now, we be needin’ m’re o’ dose,~ he thought.
“SELF DESTRUCT COUNTDOWN! YOU HAVE THREE MINUTES TO REACH MINIMUM SAFE DISTANCE!”
The Cajun shuddered, red-on-black eyes gleaming with the urgency of the situation. Wolverine’s orders did not fall on deaf ears, his plan a little dangerous at best, but one that would ensure they were all lifted to safety before those three minutes were up.
“I be goin’ wit’ dem!” he yelled, over the blades of the now landing chopper. He motioned for all bar Chamber to move their butts towards the aircraft. Turning to Jonothon, he said, “Yo’ be goin’ wit’ Wolverine, I be keepin’ yo’ all safe, I no’ be losin’ any o’ yo’ t’ de likes o’ mutan’ hat’rs now!”
With that said, Remy passed on Logan’s message to Storm and Cyclops, as he ran after the others, trench coat billowing out behind him.
OOC: Please get aboard, it’s time to leave, people!!!!
Re: Olympia: Engineering/SEALs/Tag: Any There
//Edit: changed so Nightcrawler is still in engineering, in case Gyrich's team wants/needs to react.
Nightcrawler was still panting slightly, catching his breath as he sat in engineering with Andreas by his side. He was trying to calm the guy down: "Don't worry, Mon, as soon as I catch my breath I'll get us out of here. See..."
*bamf* he teleported a few feet to his left, then turned back to face Andreas. "...I'm a telePORTER!" he said, hitching up a "thumbs up" signal as he forced more cheer and casualness into his contenance than he truly felt.
"You OK, there?" he turned again to ask Maldonado and Devlin as they continued to work on the pipe. "Maybe I can ... "
A sour glare from Maldonado followed quickly by Devlin dropping his hand oh-so-casually near the butt of his gun gave him the answer he needed. Instead, Kurt sat on a metal stairs and thrust his head in his hands in a frustrated look. "Or ... maybe not."
~Has anyone seen Gambit or the others?~ he let out on the mind link. ~We need to get everyone off the ship, there's this really annoying bomb doing a five minute countdown in the room next to me. I have Andreas ready for port and the soldiers have taken the guy from engineering out, but two of them are still trapped down here and I really really have this gut feeling that they don't particularly like me~
After another 30 seconds of frantic lifting, Kurt sighed and stood up. "You guys are Toooo Slooooww" he announced with forced playfulness.
*bamf*
Kurt had ported to Hobb's side. As the other two soldiers reacted angrily and were preparing for an urgent mutant defenestration...
*bamf*
Kurt had teleported Hobbs free, but was now staggering under the weight of the man and his gear. He stumbled uneasily, almost losing his footing. "große Augen machen!" he half-shouted and half-muttered. "What do you people eat? Nails?"
After a few more hesitant, grunting steps he cheerfully announced "Here you go!" with his last bit of breath as he dumped Hobbs form into Maldonado's surprised yet outstretched arms.
He wiped his forehead with the back of his arm, letting out an expressive sigh before fixing his posture. "Bye bye now!" he waved, grabbing Andrea's arm, preparing to port out.
~I am leaving for the deck with Andreas, and the soldiers are free of the pipes~ he sent over the link. ~Who needs a pickup? Can we go home now?~ Edited by: Haverberg at: 1/13/06 9:11 am
Whale:Outside *tag scott and any with link and comm*
Storm heard Gambit on her com and smiled, "Gambit...theres little time..." she grit out. Even the witch had her limits and this was drainful, even for her.
"Tell Logan...I'm sorry. But I couldn't leave....them...." she gasped out into her com.
She had no more real strength to speak physically, ~Scott...~ she thought quietly, ~I don't know how much longer..I have to get this air out of here...it cannot stay with me....~ she said as she backed up.
Using the wind tunnel she let herself down the ladder and towards the hatch where she came in. The tunnel protected her from anyone or anything getting too close. Anything that wasn't bolted down got sucked in along with it.
Heading outside she automatically flew up, forced by the pressure. Releasing the air tunnel she let out a sigh and fell gracelessly to the deck. ~It is done...~ she sent out and then her mind link went dead.
OOC: Shes ok, just out cold. Don't forget to grab her! :P
Re: Olympia Deck/ Logan's team TAGS Helo crew, Chamber
Chamber only shrugged. He already knew who he was with and that was these people.
*Yeah Yeah I know. I'm with ya.*
Hitching up the scarf he used to cover his ruined mouth and nose he remained with Logan though there was a bit of hesitation on leaving the others. But if Logan figured it was best, it was for the best.
*Don't worry. I'll follow you guys. I don't have anything pressing.*
Re: Olympia Upper Deck/ Logan, Chamber... Tags Kurt
"Okay, then..." Logan acknowledged, and with a quick glance over his shoulder to make sure the team wasn't having a problem getting aboard the helos, he took Chamber by the shoulder, guiding him back toward the rear deck.
"We don't hafta worry about the nukes now," he mentioned, looking up at the pallets loaded with warheads being hoisted away by one of the helicopter crews. "We need to find Storm, Kurt an' whoever else is still unaccounted for. We need to find a way over to the Whale. I got no com, musta lost it when I went overboard with Creed. Stay close," he advised the lad as he loped through the debris-ridden deck, heading back the way they'd come.
Three quarters of their way there, Logan's attention was drawn to an unusual sound and a flash of activity to his left. He shot a glance that way and slowed to a stop, reaching out to halt the boy with him as he recognized Nightcrawler suddenly appearing on deck with the mutant, Andreas.
"Elf!" he shouted as he redirected his path toward them, "what the hell is goin' on? Can you get us over to the Whale?" he asked quickly, then frowned at the young mutant. "Where'd you come from anyway? Are you okay?"
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Crow/ Tags Cyclops (?)
A slight breeze in the dead air was all Crow needed as an excuse. She whipped around, a knife already in each hand. Her ears popped, and she cursed silently. She had seen the weather manipulator on board the Whale earlier, and it wasn’t a big mental jump to guess what happened. Her fingernails pressed into the leather of her knives’ handles, leaving faint grooves. Even with all her wariness, there was little she could have done against an attack from the environment. Little, but…
Not all.
Crow sheathed her knives, and, closing her eyes, began to shift once again. Her head was already fuzzing at the edges, and it took all she had to change. But then—her head cleared slightly, and she opened a pair of much sharper eyes onto the deck. The air was still far too thin to do much of anything in, but she could still handle it, and that was enough. And, she hoped, it was enough to fly in.
Much to the surprise of many a pilot, they had seen eagles soaring alongside their jets, in altitudes they had previously believed could support nothing larger than bacteria. Granted, more often than not those birds also got sucked into their engines, and created a horrible bloody mess.
Thankfully, everyone’s favorite thief wasn’t near a turbine, and thus had little chance of becoming pureed. Not so thankfully, however, was her decision that Cyclops would make a nice substitute for a stress ball. As such, he had one scary beak, eight scary talons, and a whole lot of feathers flying toward him. Hey, Crow was slightly upset. She needed a stress ball.

Whale: Upper Disk/Cyke/ Tags: Crow, Evo
Scott Summers was having a very bad day. One might even say a stressful one. Nemesis went down like a felled tree -- but, at almost the same instant, Storm collapsed on the open deck fronting the flying bridge. At least he'd soon be able to breathe again, Cyclops thought randomly, hearing the hiss of air in the vents as he rolled out from under his cover and hit the release for the hatch.
~Evo -- in here, quickly!~
He was starting to roll back, toward the door, toward his fallen teammate, when he caught a glimpse of the eagle where the girl had stood moments ago. Okay, the pilot thought, high altitude bird, logical choice.
Then, to his surprise, it came flying at him, talons extended.
Scott fired automatically, eye beam dialed back to near-minimum power and maximum spread, fanned out to repel his avian assailant.
Re: Olympia: Engineering/SEALs/Tag: Any There
// NPC'ing Evo until he returns
Evo waited on the ladder, eyes up towards the hatch while the red lights blinked. After a short while, things returned to normal, and there was a satisfying shhh-click as the pressure seals preventing hatch operation released and that same gratingly metalic female voice announced "Atmospheric pressure has been stabilized, you may now proceed".
Lifting the hatch, he ducked his head out just in time to duck it back in as Cyclop's eyebeam washed over the entire upper hallway, propelling a stack of coffee cups from further back to bounce on the partially opened hatch before rolling on the floor.
Quickly following that, he began ascending through the hatch.
Re: Whale:Outside *tag scott and any with link and comm*"Elf!" he shouted as he redirected his path toward them, "what the hell is goin' on? Can you get us over to the Whale?" he asked quickly, then frowned at the young mutant. "Where'd you come from anyway? Are you okay?"
"Arrrrggghh" the elf half-screamed, putting his hands to both ears and rocking his head in a sideways motion. "So many questions! One at a time -"
He stopped his amateur theatrics and dropped his hands to his side, palms up, elbows bent. "Your radio, oh! you don't know!" He bent down to fuss with the belt strap on his own, undogging it before he tossed it with an easy underhanded throw to Wolverine.
He then straightened up, ticking off his responses with the fingers of his hand, index finger of one hand visiting its opposing members.
"One: there is a bomb in engineering, a big one. It might take out the entire ship. Two: let me get back to you on that. Three I was in engineering, which is how I learned about the bomb. Four: For the moment. Back to two:"
And with that he reached out and grabbed both Andreas and Wolverine.
*bamf*
The two appeared on the upper disk of the Whale, on the large curving deck just outside of the enclosed control area where all the activity had been taking place.
"Back to four!" he shouted, twisting around to dash for the perimeter railing surrounding the deck. With both hands firmly planted on it, he gave every impression of someone who was dealing rather not-quite-so-well-as-could-have-been-expected with sea sickness, in the finest sea-fairing traditions of southern Bavaria. Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Crow/ Tags Cyke, Evo (those outside?)
For not being used to having big brown birds try to attach themselves to his face, Cyclops was doing a good job at coping. Crow probably would have complimented him herself, if she wasn’t so busy being that big brown bird. Instead, she hissed at being pushed back, and tried to lift out of the beam. A second later she realized that she could; and that probably meant there was more air. In that case, she wasn’t about to remain relatively small and bashable. Eagles happened to be very strong, but flying was getting just a bit difficult.
Crow instead spread her wings to the beam, letting it push her back as she considered her choices. She needed to be big, and strong, and small enough to maneuver on the bridge. Something pointy would be nice, too, and perhaps…feline? Crow gave a mental sigh at the thought of the cliché, but began to shift. She had neither time nor inclination to think of anything better.
An instant later, a rather large, upset tiger faced Cyclops, but she made no move on her previous effort to eat his face. Instead, she stood just slightly out of range for an immediate lunge, growling softly. Her yellow eyes remained glued on him, and even the newest member to the party coming from the hatch only received the slightest reaction. She had gotten over her initial response to the attack, but she was far from passive as she waited for his move. For both their sake, she hoped it would be a very good explanation.

"Arrrrggghh" the elf half-screamed, putting his hands to both ears and rocking his head in a sideways motion. "So many questions! One at a time -"
As the elf nearly screamed in dramatic fashion, Logan blinked looking totally surprised by the display. Once the kid calmed down he visibly relaxed again and listened as Kurt replied.
"Your radio, oh! you don't know!" Kurt said and began to fuss with the belt strap on his own radio, undogging it before he tossed it with an easy underhanded throw to Wolverine, who caught it haphazardly.
"One: there is a bomb in engineering, a big one. It might take out the entire ship. Two: let me get back to you on that. Three I was in engineering, which is how I learned about the bomb. Four: For the moment. Back to two:"
Logan again looked totally perplexed as he tried to keep up with Kurt's answers because now he couldn't quite remember what he'd asked him. His face scrunched into a confused scowl, his eyes darting from Kurt over to Chamber and back again. Then suddenly, before he could make heads or tails out of the kid's spiel, the Elf grabbed onto him and suddenly *bamf*....
When they re-materialized on the topside of the Whale, Logan stumbled as his heightened senses were disoriented. He kept his footing though and concentrated on steadying himself until the world stopped tilting. Looking around, he saw Andreas standing not too far away and Kurt racing for the rail. Another quick look around let him know that someone was missing.
He walked over to where Kurt was bent over the ship's rail, throwing a glance up toward the Olympia's top deck. Coming up behind Nightcrawler, Logan tapped him on the shoulder with one finger, "When yer done hackin' up a fur ball, could ya' bamf back to Olympia an' grab Chamber for me? I aint leavin' nobody behind." He gave Kurt's shoulder a pat and added, "Get on that wouldja? Thanks." Then he took a large step back and folded his arms across his chest, waiting. He wasn't about to go any further until all his charges were accounted for. "Move it, Elf. Time's a wastin'."
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Cyke/ Tags Crow, Evo (those outside?)
Scott took a few of the seconds purchased by pushing the shape-shifted bird away to flip to his feet and kick the unconscious Nemesis' submachinegun away behind him. The one Scott had brought over from the Olympia was still tucked under the console where he'd sheltered, but there was nothing he could do about that right now.
As he moved, he kept an eye on the bird. Judging by the amount of 'traction' her wings had been able to achieve to lift herself out of the beam, the air, while still thin, was at least breathable. His mind raced over the things he needed to accomplish immediately, if not five minutes ago. Check on Storm, disarm and bind Nemesis, and get the Whale in motion to get his teammates off the Olympia.
"Evo," Cyclops said to the young man emerging from the hatch, "Storm's down on the deck out front. Go make sure she's okay." Seeing the bird begin to morph into something large and feline, he added, "Circle behind me to the door."
A tiger, he recognized a moment later. Great. Not attacking, though, so at least she'd either calmed down some or learned a little caution. Nevertheless, her tail was twitching and she was glaring at him. Was she excitable in general, he wondered, or did Nemesis inspire that kind of loyalty?
Whichever it was, he didn't have time to puzzle the details out right now. "I can hit a lot harder than that," Cyclops said. "We're not going to hurt your friend, and I don't want to hurt you. But that ship's going to blow up and if you don't stop interfering with our getting our friends off it, I will."
Re: Whale Upper Deck/ Storm *tag any in Logans party, Cyke*
*I may be wrong about this, but theres a deck and then theres a top DISK above that right? Logan, storm and company are on the DECK and Scott, Evo and Crow are on the disk? If not feel free to make corrections, thanks*
The faint smell of sulfur filled Storms nose as it wafted up through the air. Storm was alright, just tired. Opening her eyes she lifted her head looking around. She gave out a groan and rubbed her head.
She had quiet a bruise forming. 'Well what do you expect? Your the one that pushed it. I can only hope it worked.' she thought as she got to her feet.
Coming back to the smell of sulfur she looked around again, "Kurt?" she called out, thinking he was nearby.
Walking around to the other side she thought she heard voices. Rounding the corner her blue eyes widened as she stared at Chamber and Logan, "What are you DOING here?" she blurt out.
"Look, there is little time. There is a bomb on the Olympia. I don't know if it will effect this one or not. It's not safe here. I came to help Scott." she looked up towards the the top disk, hoping Scott was ok and that Evo was too.
~Scott are you alright? What about Evo? Did it work?~ she sent out.
Re: Whale Upper Deck/ Storm *tag any in Logans party, Cyke*OOC: On the Whale, there's a large disk (the main ship) with a smaller disk perched at the top of a tower above it. The smaller (upper) disk is divided in two parts. The front part of the upper disk is an open area with a railing around it that I've been referring to as the deck. That's where Storm is and where Kurt, Andreas, and Wolverine just arrived. The back part of the upper disk is an enclosed control area. That's where Evo, Gyrich, Crow, and Cyke are. Chamber is on the deck of the Olympia, not the Whale.
It's also possible to stand on the lower disk, but I've been calling that the outer hull (to avoid confusion and since that's technically what it is). As far as I know, nobody's on the lower disk. Edited by: Original Summers at: 1/14/06 3:42 pm
Re: Whale:Outside *tag scott and any with link and comm*"Move it, Elf. Time's a wastin'."
Kurt bit back the last of the ... he so didn't want to think about it ... and took a hard swallow, his hands still holding the railing in a death grip.
"Hoo-Kay! But I am seriously looking for a deck chair and drinks with tiny umbrellas in them when this is all over with," he said. "Non-alcoholic, of course," he added quickly. He still wasn't drinking age in the States
He turned around to face Logan, coughing twice into his fist. "Fur balls indeed. HE's one to talk," he thought, but didn't bother to give voice to it as his sentiments were writ plainly upon his face.
~Prepare yourself Chamber~ he said over the link. ~coming back for you~
With a sulpherous *bamf* he disappeared and reapeared in the same place, albeit this time with Chamber right next to him. Edited by: Paid by the Word at: 1/14/06 8:19 pm

Evo himself replied to Storm, even as he saw that his shell was falling overboard. ~Stuck like this for a while, but otherwise, I'm fine. Without my shell, I'm unable to return to human, and that means I can't change until time's up.~
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Logan Tags all on deck"Non-alcoholic, of course," he added quickly. He still wasn't drinking age in the States
He turned around to face Logan, coughing twice into his fist. "Fur balls indeed. HE's one to talk," he thought, but didn't bother to give voice to it as his sentiments were writ plainly upon his face.
Logan was still standing behind him, his arms still crossed, his head tilted slightly to one side as he watched the elfin kid compose himself. The expression on Logan's face was a bit scowly, but that was the norm, he did however have a quirky amused grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"Don't gimme that look, kid... I can hear what yer thinkin'. Can it," he said, then extended one arm to point up at the Olympia, "Go."
As quick as that, Nightcrawler vanished and re-appeared with Chamber. "Welcome aboard," he flipped toward the new arrival then turned to lead the way. "Let's go, gotta find..." Just then Storm came around from the other side of the open deck.
"What're you DOING here?" she asked him and he scowled at her confused. "Look, there is little time. There is a bomb on the Olympia. I don't know if it will effect this one or not. It's not safe here," she told him and Logan's face twisted into an angry glare.
"Yeh, and it was alot safer leavin' us behind on the one that's actually got the bomb ON IT! Right?" he snarled back. "Thanks for leavin' us behind, by the way... never saw you as one to do that." With that, Logan stepped around her, pulling the radio Kurt had given him from his pant waistband.
"I came to help Scott," Storm told Logan as he walked away.
"Good... and did you?" he growled without turning around, then keyed his radio. "Wolverine to Cyclops, you read me? Aboard the Whale, upper deck... what's yer status?"
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Logan Tags all on deck"Yeh, and it was alot safer leavin' us behind on the one that's actually got the bomb ON IT! Right?" he snarled back.
Ok Logan was angry, and rightfully so. "Look I was under the impression you had enough sense to use the life boats and get to saftey." she sighed, closing her eyes. She regretted it the moment the words left her mouth.
"Thanks for leavin' us behind, by the way... never saw you as one to do that."
With those words she balled her fists at her sides. Ok NOW she didn't regret a damn thing.
"If I've learned anything from you Logan, never leave anyone behind, am I right? I thought you would go to the boats and get the hell out!" she opened her eyes as thunder rumbled in the distance.
She was hurt, he didn't understand, but that didn't suspend her feelings, it made it worse if anything, "Now maybe you know how it feels." she bit back.
"Leaving, when someone needs you most...." she whispered and turned her back looking up to the top deck.
Her anger had gone, replaced by sadness now intensified and a light drizzle started to come down. She kicked herself mentally. She couldn't BELIEVE what she had just said. For once she welcomed the rain, it hid the tears.
With that, Logan stepped around her, pulling the radio Kurt had given him from his pant waistband.
"I came to help Scott," Storm told Logan as he walked away.
"Good... and did you?" he growled without turning around, then keyed his radio. "Wolverine to Cyclops, you read me? Aboard the Whale, upper deck... what's yer status?"
"I did to the best of my ability, yes." she said not looking at his retreating form.
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Logan Tags all on deck
It was a good thing that Chamber's mouth was so ruined or else he would have vomited all over the deck as he and Nightcrawler reappeared. Staring at Logan, he shrugged,
*That was disgusting. That teleportation trip. Does it get easier or does one just get numb after a while?*
Chamber glanced away to see Storm come in and he 'stared' at her for a long time.
~Must be such good friends they are, if they would argue that way.~ came his thoughts to himself.
Background: Many, many years ago, Charles Francis Xavier established Xavier's School for the Gifted. Also, seeing other Mutants misusing and abusing their powers, he created the first generation of the X-Men.This original team was trained and lead by an old friend of his...Logan, aka Wolverine. Logan's co-leader was a young woman and student named Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Once the team was trained and fielded on active missions, they took on the additional responsibility of teaching and helping new Mutants deal with their powers. On one horrible night, the X-Men were fielded to stop a particularly powerful Mutant and his 'gang'. The 'intelligence' received on this Mutant and his cohorts was sketchy and actually turned out to be a set-up to entrap the X-Men and take them captive. In the ensuing melee', 'things' happened and a number of the team were killed outright or severely injured. After making sure his remaining team-mates were going to be okay, Logan left. Xavier has not, to current time, explained his absence or even whether or not he survived.Current Time/Game Time: Almost seven years later, as Human/Mutant incidents are on the rise, Xavier once again sees a need for a Mutant 'police force'. He sees this new X-Men team as a force for good and a way to help peacefully integrate the rapidly emerging Mutant society with the established Human society. To this end, he has contacted Logan and asked him to 'come home' and train his 'new' team.
Logan has reluctantly agreed. Can shadows from their past be put aside for the good of the new X-Men? How will the surviving members of the original team react and what will they do as 'truths' are learned about that disastrous night?Note: We want the new X-Men to include younger versions of the old familiar characters such as Scott, Jean, Beast etc...as well as many of the OCC’s and other Canon characters that are available. Please ask the Staff BEFORE stating or establishing that your character was one of the old, now disbanded, original X-Men.
