As the name indicates...this RPG will revolve around Crossroads and New Beginnings.CrossroadsWe would like to see characters come to a 'crossroads' in their lives where important and life changing decisions have to be made. These events can be very personal...i.e. a relationship beginning, ending or changing, or they can be moral or spiritual. Whatever is decided, they should show 'growth' for your character.New BeginningsThis can be any number of items as well and most likely will relate back to the 'crossroads' in your character(s)' life or lives and/or career. They may be starting a new career as teacher or student at Xavier's School for the Gifted or may have been selected to train for the upcoming X-Men team(s). Their 'new beginning' once again may be as simple as establishing a new relationship or changes in an old one.

Remy pushed the last body up into the helicopter, ignoring the extended hand of one of the soldier’s within. The last person happened to be Rogue, and he was pleased to see them all safe, Wanda, Karina, Rogue, Latrina, and her mother (and anyone else I may have forgotten), moving to sit right beside the Southern girl, his red-on-black eyes narrowing as he waited for it.
As the helicopter lifted off, the metallic computer voice within the secret room transmitted the final countdown throughout the entire ship,
Within the confines of the secret room, the computer console had already started to spark, the liquid from Wanda’s hex bolt seeping into the main systems, messing with the circuitry, and finding its way down to the mechanism below; the same mechanism that would set off the bomb the man on the phone had implanted in case of infiltration.
From within the console, a small sound was heard, before the counter reached O, and the detonation blew outwards, destroying the computers completely, taking out the file draw directly beside it, and scattering debris all over the place, the concussive force slamming the med beds back against the walls, ripping chords from sockets, and shattering anything made of glass inside the room.
And that was it, a self destruct mechanism set to explode and start a chain reaction that would take out an entire cruise ship had been reduced to what some may have called merely a house bomb, the secret room now looking like…
Well…
A bomb had hit it.
OOC: Er, sorry, couldn’t resist that last bit. Oh, and anyone nearby will hear and possibly feel the sounds of the blast.
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Crow/ Tags Cyke, Evo (those outside?)
Crow’s low growl stopped as Cyclops addressed her, and for a long moment after he finished she watched him, considering her options. There was the possibility he was lying, but if he was, what could she do about it? There was definitely something going down on the Olympia; from his earlier words and the little she would see out the windows, he had been telling at least a half-truth. Neither did she doubt his ability to “hit harder”—that was just common sense. And if he could, that probably meant he could have done a whole lot more to her or Gyrich than what had happened. In that case, what else can I do? He’s telling the truth, and that means both of us are probably safe, for the moment.
Miri changed back finally, although the wary tension she still felt was visible in every line in her body. She didn’t know what to expect anymore, and surprises tended to make her a bit edgy. “In that case,” she offered, mouth set in a humorless smile, “You could probably use some help.” It was unlikely he knew who she was, or why she was there, but, unless he was supremely dense, he had figured out the shapeshifter bit. Everything else was just commentary.

Whale: Indoor Upper Disk/Cyke/Tags Crow, Evo, those outside
Before Evo could even move, Storm's mental voice spoke in their heads, followed by Evo's mental reply.
~Scott are you alright? What about Evo? Did it work?~
~Stuck like this for a while, but otherwise, I'm fine. Without my shell, I'm unable to return to human, and that means I can't change until time's up.~
~I'm fine,~ Scott replied to those within the link, nodding to Evo in acknowledgment. ~Nemesis -- the SHIELD leader -- is unconscious, though he has a mutant associate who's still on her feet and growling at me.~ Frustration tinged with shame leaked into his mental voice. ~I don't know if I'm going to be able to get the Whale moving in time. Kurt, is anyone left aboard? I'm sorry, you'll have to get them out. Does anyone know where Logan is? I'm not sure his radio's working.~
As he 'spoke,' Cyclops watched the mutant shapeshifter mull over what he'd said. After a couple of very long moments, she began to shift back to what looked like human form and he gave a mental sigh of relief.
An instant later, Logan's voice came over his radio.
"Wolverine to Cyclops, you read me? Aboard the Whale, upper deck... what's yer status?"
“In that case,” [Crow] offered, mouth set in a humorless smile, “You could probably use some help.”
Cyclops' answering smile was tired, but genuine, and he nodded to her. "Copy, Wolverine," he said into his radio. "I'm inside, flying bridge. The SHIELD leader is down and his mutant friend has agreed to a truce. Backup, though, would be much appreciated."
Re: Whale:Outside *tag scott, Logan, and Chamber*
* I lost track of Kurt, sorry*
~Understood~ She replied as she heard a countdown from the other ship. *I would guess it's THAT close*
Her attention turned elsewhere, the rain had stopped as she grabbed Chamber and drug him off with her towards Wolverine, "GET DOWN!" she shouted as she shoved the two.
She didn't know it wouldn't expand and that it was just confined to one space. A bomb was a bomb to her, and she hated them. Once the explosion was heard though she looked up. The Whale was intact, THEY were intact, no debris on the deck.
Turning her head back she looked towards the Olympia. 'I do not understand.'
~Scott. An explosion from the Olympia. We are alright though, but I think THAT was the bomb. It seems to have been confined to a certain area.~
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Logan Tags all on deckOk Logan was angry, and rightfully so. "Look I was under the impression you had enough sense to use the life boats and get to saftey." she sighed, closing her eyes. She regretted it the moment the words left her mouth.
"Really. Was that the impression you had?" Logan asked her over his shoulder.
"Thanks for leavin' us behind, by the way... never saw you as one to do that."
With those words she balled her fists at her sides. Ok NOW she didn't regret a damn thing. "If I've learned anything from you Logan, never leave anyone behind, am I right? I thought you would go to the boats and get the hell out!" she opened her eyes as thunder rumbled in the distance.
"Well, apparently you don't realize how much time it actually takes to load a lifeboat an' launch it from the side of a cruise ship! It took most o' those seven minutes left just to get to the other side o' the ship! Didn't think havin' our people danglin' off the side when a bomb went off was particularly a wise choice!"
She was hurt, he didn't understand, but that didn't suspend her feelings, it made it worse if anything, "Now maybe you know how it feels." she bit back. "Leaving, when someone needs you most...." she whispered and turned her back looking up to the top deck.
Her anger had gone, replaced by sadness now intensified and a light drizzle started to come down. She kicked herself mentally. She couldn't BELIEVE what she had just said. For once she welcomed the rain, it hid the tears.
"Really? At least I waited til the crisis was over before I left."
With that, Logan stepped around her, pulling the radio Kurt had given him from his pant waistband.
"I came to help Scott," Storm told Logan as he walked away.
"Good... and did you?" he growled without turning around, then keyed his radio. "Wolverine to Cyclops, you read me? Aboard the Whale, upper deck... what's yer status?"
"I did to the best of my ability, yes." she said not looking at his retreating form.
'Don't we all,' he replied silently. Then hearing Scott's update and request for backup, he turned to the group. "Let's move. Cyke needs backup. Keep alert!" With that he ran toward the hatch.
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Evo Tags all on deck
When Cyclops nodded in acknowledgement, Evo smiled slightly. This exceedingly small, light form might not have speech, but it still had expressions. When hesaw Crow, however, he tilted his head, and frowned at her. ~What now, Cyclops? We going back home now? If so, are we going to take these others with us?~
Re: Olympia: Deck/Secret Room/Gambit/Tags: Open~Kurt, is anyone left aboard? I'm sorry, you'll have to get them out. Does anyone know where Logan is? I'm not sure his radio's working.~
Kurt responded on the link, continuing to repeatedly swallow down the final detrious of sea-sickness:
~I haven't seen Gambit's group since they followed Wolverine out. The soldiers who were trapped under the pipes and conduits have made their way out, however, after doing a sweep for anyone left in engineering~
~I am worried, I haven't heard anyone on the link who followed Gambit and Wolverine out~
He followed this up with a spoken question. "Professor Logan, vhat happened to Gambit and his group? Have you seen them?"
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Logan Tags all on deck, evo
Storm said nothing but she held her head high and followed after Logan and the others. They would talk at home. NOW was NOT the time. There were more important matters at hand.
~Your shell? Where is it? I may be able to get it for you.~ she offered to Evo, via mind link.
Re: Whale: Indoor Upper Disk/Evo/Tags Folks, Storm
Evo shook his head as he replied to Storm. ~My shell went overboard, Storm. I'm at about ten minutes by now, though, so give me another hour fifty minutes, and I'll be back to normal, if a bit hungry.~
Whale: Upper Disk / Cyke / Tag: All There
Evo: ~What now, Cyclops? We going back home now? If so, are we going to take these others with us?~
~We'll be going back as soon as we can,~ Cyclops replied, looking at the bullet holes in the transpad control console unhappily. ~It just may take a little doing. Who's allowed to come with us will be up to Logan.~
Cyclops glanced out the 'windows' overlooking the deck. Logan, Kurt, Storm, Chamber, and Andreas were almost at the hatch. Keeping an eye on Nemesis, he moved to open it. As he did so, he said to the shapeshifter, "I'm called Cyclops. What's your name?"

Re: Olympia: Deck/Secret Room/Gambit/Tags: OpenOOC: Edited by Admin.
Karina:
Karina wondered what could be going on, until she was dragged out from under the lifeboat by Wolverine, the sudden movement making her jump. She looked toward Logan, freaked. She asserted herself, not wanting the others to see how freaked she was.
"So, can we go now?" she asked though her voice did tremble a bit.
The answer came from Remy, ordering them to head towards the now landing helicopter.
Scarlet Witch:
Wanda was still in the lifeboat when Gambit's orders came. She shrugged, heading for the aircraft, "Whatever," was all she said.
OOC: They are on the helicopter now, girls, please take note!Edited by: Mana4X2 at: 1/19/06 7:16 am
Re: Whale/ Outside deck/ Tags Kurt and Cyclops (Kurt) followed up with a spoken question. "Professor Logan, vhat happened to Gambit and his group? Have you seen them?"
"Yeh, I put 'em all aboard one o' the rescue helos, they're safe enough. They'll probably rendezvous on that island that's not too far off. Told Gambit to contact Jean an' let her know what's goin' on."
Just as he got to the hatch he banged his fist on it, awaiting an answer of gunfire or silence. Instead, the hatch opened to reveal Summers, looking a bit battle weary. "Mind if we join the party?" Logan asked with a smirk and stepped inside, followed by the others. He took a quick glance around then pinned Scott with a sharp gaze, "Catch me up."

Re: Whale: Indoor Upper Disk/Crow/Tags Folks
Crow looked between Cyclops and Evo as they exchanged various expressions and movements normally associated with talking. Neither, however, had moved their lips—or hands, for that matter—and it took Miri a moment to figure out why the silent exchange seemed so familiar. After a long, slightly puzzled frown, she finally came up with an answer she really didn’t like.~And now they have a telepathic web, too? My day just keeps getting more and more lovely. It must be the weather.~
Following Scott’s gaze outside to the slightly wet newcomers, Crow was mildly startled to see Kurt. She had almost forgotten that he was there, and immediately recalled a certain electronic device in her bag with a hint of a smirk. Every cloud did have its silver lining; that was for sure. She was brought out of her reminiscence by some finally spoken words.
"I'm called Cyclops. What's your name?"
That question. Crow had expected it, but that didn’t mean it was any less awkward. There was no way she was going to respond with her name, not when there was a chance they could find it. The name so many knew her by wasn’t much better—no doubt someone would recognize it, and then she would probably have a whole new set of problems. But considering her other options, it would have to do. “Crow,” she replied simply, just as the hatch opened to reveal the diminutive Canadian.

[Logan] He took a quick glance around then pinned Scott with a sharp gaze, "Catch me up."
Scott didn't quite come to attention, but near enough. "This is Crow," he canted his head toward Miri, "and Nemesis," another tilt toward the man on the floor. "When I realized he'd jumped across, I followed in hopes with Storm's help I could stop him from disabling the ship. I regret, sir," he said with a bleak look at the transpad controls, "I wasn't quite fast enough."

Olympia: Rescue Helo/Rogue/Tags: Gambit, everyone else
The explosion made Rogue gasp. Clearly, she hadn't expected to walk in on a terrorist operation - she'd just wanted to find the X-Men. That was it.
But... The vessel below them was exploding.
Rogue turned to Gambit. "Is everyone alright, d'ya know?" she asked softly. "An'... What d'we do now?" she asked, worried. Very worried.
Re: Whale/ Logan, tags OpenScott didn't quite come to attention, but near enough. "This is Crow," he informed Logan as he canted his head toward Miri.
Logan scowled at the girl for a few moments, his heavy stare boring into her. He was never one who put too much attention in hiding his suspicious nature and often made it quite clear, simply with a look, that he had his eye on you. He was, however, doing much more in those few seconds than just giving her the hairy eyeball.
He slowly took in her scent and committed it to memory; sorting out the shampoos and soaps and other manmade applications, separating them from her natural pure scent, including perspiration no matter how slight or what the cause.
His ears picked up her respirations; their speed, depth and quality. Among other things, this told him whether she was agitated, angry, scared, wary... as well as her physical health or lack thereof. His sharp eyes registered her body language; her stance, the slightest movements and muscle twitches, as well as facial expressions. All these things were accomplished within a manner of only a few seconds before his attention was re-directed from her to another as Summers spoke up again.
"... and Nemesis," Scott continued with another head tilt toward the man on the floor. "When I realized he'd jumped across, I followed in hopes that with Storm's help I could stop him from disabling the ship. I regret, sir," he said with a bleak look at the transpad controls, "I wasn't quite fast enough."
Logan looked to where Scott indicated, first to the man lying on the floor. His eyes narrowed and his lip curled back as he spoke, "Secure him."
The advice was two-fold; tie him up and if he's already bound, watch him. Then he walked to the transpad console and gave it a hard look.
"Great," he uttered aloud, then scanned the interior of the flight deck, "I'm guessin' that this tub has an alternate means of command and control... maybe a secondary or, more likely, a primary control center," he mentioned to those assembled. Turning to look at them he continued, "Considerin' the way this bird is set up, I'd say this deck wasn't originally built for overall control of the ship... this deck looks like it focuses strictly on control of the transpad... so the main ship woulda had its own control center. We'll hafta figure out how to fly us outta here." Turning to Scott, he pointed a finger at him, "Find it."
Then he turned his suspicious scowl back to Crow while still addressing Summers, "What's her story?" Edited by: Wolvie6 at: 1/19/06 2:55 am
Re: Whale/ Outside deck/ Tags Kurt and Cyclops
((No one has looked yet, but there are three areas the ship can be controlled from: 1) the control wheel at the very very very front of the flying bridge has essential navigation and basic communication access. The wheel has to be unfolded from its base since the entire interface is exposed to water, so it would also be incredibly reliable due to its environment. 2) the starboard side of the storm bridge (across the elevator column from the transpad) has basic ship controls similar to what you would find on any maritime craft. 3) The control room on A level is like a miniature cerebro, with very intuitive video-game controls. For all, unless safety interlocks are disabled, the craft will prevent you from doing anything stupid, even if you are a rank amateur.))
Whale: Storm Bridge/Cyke/Tags: All There
[Logan's] eyes narrowed and his lip curled back as he spoke, "Secure him."
Cyclops nodded and moved to obey. He watched the big man carefully as he approached. Though he was pretty sure Nemesis was out cold, the commando was too fit for the brief suffocation to keep him unconscious long -- and even without the MP5, he could do severe harm to anyone within arm's reach. As he knelt beside him, Cyke was surprised to discover the mindlink remained intact.
A quick glance at Andreas told him the young mutant was still too shell-shocked to be of much use, and he wasn't sure Storm had yet recovered from the strain, so he sent to the remaining two, ~Nightcrawler, Chamber, help me, please. Don't come where he can grab you if he comes to, I'll hand the stuff off to you and you can put it out of reach. And collect the guns. There's one under the transpad controls and another over by that crate. Evo, keep an eye on him, please.~
While Wolverine studied the situation and mused aloud, Scott began stripping off Nemesis' gear. It made an impressive collection -- weapons, armor, flashlight, a flat metal case, radio, a gizmo that was presumably the nullification device, and various other bits of equipment. Including, Cyclops was gratified to discover, a bundle of a half-dozen zip cuffs.
Rolling the commando to lie face down, Scott set about lashing his wrists and ankles with the zip cuffs, leaving the nightvision gear till last.
We'll hafta figure out how to fly us outta here." Turning to Scott, [Logan] pointed a finger at him, "Find it."
"Yes, sir," Cyclops said, sliding off the nightvision gear and tucking it under his arm as he stood. "They'll try to stop us leaving," he said, motioning with his head to indicate the Harriers above." And they could probably do it, he judged. Self-repairing hatches or not, a couple of slammers through something vital and they would be, literally, sunk.
Then [Logan] turned his suspicious scowl back to Crow while still addressing Summers, "What's her story?"
Scott shook his head. "I don't know. She was with him, but she offered to help me when I said I was trying to help my friends."
Background: Many, many years ago, Charles Francis Xavier established Xavier's School for the Gifted. Also, seeing other Mutants misusing and abusing their powers, he created the first generation of the X-Men.This original team was trained and lead by an old friend of his...Logan, aka Wolverine. Logan's co-leader was a young woman and student named Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Once the team was trained and fielded on active missions, they took on the additional responsibility of teaching and helping new Mutants deal with their powers. On one horrible night, the X-Men were fielded to stop a particularly powerful Mutant and his 'gang'. The 'intelligence' received on this Mutant and his cohorts was sketchy and actually turned out to be a set-up to entrap the X-Men and take them captive. In the ensuing melee', 'things' happened and a number of the team were killed outright or severely injured. After making sure his remaining team-mates were going to be okay, Logan left. Xavier has not, to current time, explained his absence or even whether or not he survived.Current Time/Game Time: Almost seven years later, as Human/Mutant incidents are on the rise, Xavier once again sees a need for a Mutant 'police force'. He sees this new X-Men team as a force for good and a way to help peacefully integrate the rapidly emerging Mutant society with the established Human society. To this end, he has contacted Logan and asked him to 'come home' and train his 'new' team.
Logan has reluctantly agreed. Can shadows from their past be put aside for the good of the new X-Men? How will the surviving members of the original team react and what will they do as 'truths' are learned about that disastrous night?Note: We want the new X-Men to include younger versions of the old familiar characters such as Scott, Jean, Beast etc...as well as many of the OCC’s and other Canon characters that are available. Please ask the Staff BEFORE stating or establishing that your character was one of the old, now disbanded, original X-Men.
