Re: Whale: Indoor Upper Disk/Crow/Tags Folks
Watching the others enter the bridge, Crow’s nerves took another step up. She shifted her weight, unconsciously readying herself. Logan’s stare wasn’t helping; although she met it evenly, she didn’t quite feel the assurance she put into it. After a long, tense second, he looked away, and Miri’s eyes went with them.

Introductions over, Crow watched as Gyrich was trussed up with a small amount of relief that she refused to let show. There would have been the possibility that he would have connected her with the attack, and, at the very least, it would have made a few awkward moments for her. At the most, he could have fallen to the old standby of “shoot and ask questions later”. She had seen no reasons to think he wouldn’t make good on his earlier threat, either. Although she highly doubted even he could find her if she wanted to remain hidden, going into hiding was always annoying.

“We'll hafta figure out how to fly us outta here." Turning to Scott, [Logan] pointed a finger at him, "Find it."

For the briefest of moments, Crow considered mentioning the control room she had gotten into below, but dismissed it almost instantly. She had agreed to help them, but she wouldn’t do it at too much of her own expense. She would have to admit that she had been down there before, and they would probably ask why. As she had a faintly better idea of it herself, it would probably be best to stay away from the subject.

Crow turned her gaze back to Logan to find him glaring at her again. She had gotten the expression from others countless times before, but it wasn’t any less unfomfortable. What was interesting, however, was that he didn’t even bother to ask her what she was doing here. Crow suddenly had to fight down the overwhelming urge to tell him exactly what she had been doing, just to see his face. She was sure the resulting actions wouldn’t be worth the laugh. Well, she was almost sure, at any rate.

Re: Whale: Indoor Upper Disk/Tags Summers

Turning to Scott, [Logan] pointed a finger at him, "Find it."

"Yes, sir," Cyclops said, sliding off the nightvision gear and tucking it under his arm as he stood. "They'll try to stop us leaving," he said, motioning with his head to indicate the Harriers above. "And they could probably do it", he judged. Self-repairing hatches or not, a couple of slammers through something vital and they would be, literally, sunk.

"Yeh, well... we'll deal with them when the time comes. One thing at a time... first things first."

Then [Logan] turned his suspicious scowl back to Crow while still addressing Summers, "What's her story?"

Scott shook his head. "I don't know. She was with him, but she offered to help me when I said I was trying to help my friends."

"You don't know?" Logan asked with a scowl. "You've been over here all this time, I'm assumin' you were facin' off with him," he said, indicating Gyrich, "an' she was with him an' you can't tell me anythin' about her? Nothin' at all..." he found that a little hard to believe; he should be able to tell him something, that she's got a gun, or has temper tantrums... what was she doing with "soldier boy" and why was she now so eager to leave him? Logan took a step toward the girl, "A jumper, eh? I don't trust people who switch sides so quickly." Then he scented the air, making it quite obvious that he'd done so. "Yer scent's familiar... you were aboard the Olympia. Why?"

Logan didn't recall actually seeing her on board but her scent was definitely in the air over there. He narrowed his eyes at her, staring her down, waiting for some answers... and they'd better be good enough to satisfy his suspicious nature. But just looking at her made him doubt they would. She had an attitude and an arrogance that spelled trouble, big trouble.

With a little shrug, Chamber moved off to help Cyclops. He wasnt' about to get any closer to this guy than necessary and so gingerly helped out. His 'eyes' remaining on the man's form suspiciously.

Scott flinched inwardly. He did have one bit more information -- what her mutant power appeared to be -- but he'd been hoping to be able to communicate it more privately via the radio. Still, Logan was in charge. "She's a shapeshifter," he said.

Re: Whale/ Flight Deck/ Summers and Crow, tags

As he stepped toward the girl, demanding to know why she'd been aboard the Olympia and not getting an answer, he took one more step when he heard Scott reply, "She's a shapeshifter."

Logan stopped, then slowly turned to look at Scott over his shoulder. "Oh really. Another one?" he growled, then turned his glare back on the girl. "You got to the count o' three to tell me exactly what yer doin' here," Wolverine snarled then raised one fist to chest level... and let a single claw slide out of his knuckles with an eerie slowness, "One...."

Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Cyke/Tags: All There
Kurt had been keeping himself busy on his hands and knees, removing various items from the tall redhead and carrying them a safe distance. As the pile grew higher he let out a low whistle, followed by a muttered comment: "No wonder that man I helped in engineering was so heavy!" Both the whistle and his words were barely audible, since he had no wish of disrupting what others were trying to say.

"She's a --"

*KLUNK*

Kurt missed the rest of Scott & Wolverine's conversation, as a particularly heavy wobbly bit from his improvised pile-o-stuff chose that moment to fall with a heavy thud before rolling scattershot across the deck, the furry mutant chasing after it.

He looked up with an embarassed smile. "Sorry, so sorry!"

Re: Whale: Indoor Upper Disk/Crow/Tags Folks
Of all the questions he could have pursued, perhaps her role on the Olympia was the safest to reply to, and Crow was quite glad he picked it. She would have answered it, even, if he hadn’t decided to intimidate her a moment later. She gave a mental sigh. The one time she actually tried to be helpful, she got threatened by the shortest—if scariest—member of the team. Didn’t that figure?

Crow carefully dropped all semblances of the wariness she had shown, instead putting up a pleasant, interested mask as she watched Wolverine unsheathe his claw. She looked back up at him, expression cheerful. “You know” she began, following his numbers, “If you shish kabob me, it is unlikely you’ll ever get that answer, not to mention it will make a horrible mess.” suddenly thoughtful, she glanced down at the floor before continuing, “At least it’ll clean up pretty easily.”

She dropped the act, and met his glare again, her own eyes darkening from their usual green for just a second. “You really want to know what I was doing on the Olympia? Same thing everyone else was: helping people.”

Re: Whale: Indoor Upper Disk/Crow/Tags Folks
Logan stopped his advance and deflated a bit as he watched the blue furry elf chasing ... something across the floor. Retracting his claw he rolled his eyes with a huff and took two large steps forward, snagging the girl's collar he dragged her over to Summers. "Here, secure this too." Then he turned to Kurt, "Hey, Elf... when yer done playin' over there, why don't ya' start doin' yer thing an' scout out this bucket. That looks like an elevator of some sort," he mentioned, pointing to the round turbolift at the back of the deck, "take that if yer not recovered yet an' take Chamber with ya'."

He moved to the control panel and studied it closely, "Looks like this might have redundant systems, some o' this might still be in workin' order. C'mon, people, let's get a move on."

Turning his attention to the console he grumbled, "Gettin' tired o' sittin' on my haunches." Then, with an afterthought he turned back to Scott, "Hey Cyke? Have you tried that mindlink thing, to see if ya' can connect with Jeannie from here?"

Evo simply stepped forward at this point, keeping an eye on Gyrich as he pointed at Cow ~How about what she can tell us of the Whale? She might have seen something with Nemesis here that we haven't yet.~

(edited: Evo reminded me that he speaks only telepathically in his present form so I wouldn't have been able to hear his question. Will try to re-write this section to make sense without messin' up any posts followin' it )

His eyes shifted to Cyclops and asked, "I was under the impression that you were on their tails the moment they stepped over here...Is that right? Or am I mistaken?"

Turning from the console, he addressed the girl, "What do you know about this rig that we don't, missy? Spit it out."

Logan: Hey Cyke? Have you tried that mindlink thing, to see if ya' can connect with Jeannie from here?"

Cyclops had been in the process of trying to figure out how he was going to secure someone who could change her form at will when Wolverine asked him to contact Jean. Giving a little nod, he sent, ~Professor, would you please contact Jean?~

Then Logan was speaking to him again and he refocused.

"I was under the impression that Cyke was on their tails the moment they stepped over..."

Moving only his eyes, he looked back at Scott, "Isn't that right? Or am I mistaken?"

Scott shook his head. "There was about a minute between when I heard him blow the hatch and when I got over here, and almost immediately after that I heard him shoot out the controls." Frowning down at Nemesis, he continued, "I know where he was before he jumped across. I don't know where she was, but if she was inside, why blast his way in?" He seemed to be speaking as much to himself as Logan as his mind ran over possibilities. "Unless she wouldn't let him in. Or it was part of disabling the ship."

Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Crow/Tags: All There
Crow allowed herself to be dragged across the bridge, her own thoughts mimicking Cyclops’s. How exactly does one go about trying to hold a shifter? It was hard enough trying to keep the thief out of things; keeping her in them would be a new challenge. Not to mention all the little surprises she tended to keep on her person, many of which would be difficult to find under even the most through of searches.

As Evo, Wolverine, and Cyclops tried to figure out what had happened, Crow let out a nearly inaudible, disappointed sigh. She supposed she would have to tell them something now, and there really wasn’t anything that would hold but the truth. For that matter, the reality of what had happened wasn’t that feasible, either. And to make it seem she wasn’t, for once, lying, she’d have to tell them most of the story. Unfortunately, she was stuck with the two things she tried to avoid: the truth, and the whole truth. That just wasn’t fair.

Dismissing Scott’s theories with a minimal shake of her head, Crow looked back to Logan. “To answer you question, yes, I was aboard the Whale earlier. Never realized Maggie was so good at interior design. There’s a control room on the first level, by the way. Nice audio system.” the faintest hint of her usual grin passed over her face for a second before she continued, “But that was before…Nemesis…came over. That was about the time when Magneto put the ship into lockdown and flew it over.” Crow didn’t bother elaborating—either they’d figure out what happened, or they wouldn’t. “But I had just been leaving when I saw Nemesis on the hull, and decided to find out what he was doing. I managed to get the hatch open, but he blew it up anyway,” Crow gave a bland, humorless glance back at him and shrugged. “You’d think he didn’t trust me, or something.”

Karina:

Karina was silent as she glanced around. She hoped the others were all right. Her glance went over to Rogue and sort of stared at her for a long time, not speaking just staring.

Scarlet Witch:

Wanda was seated on the helo, arms folded about her chest and looking definately bored. Her glance at those all ready inside was sort of pointed.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" she muttered.

Re: Olympia Deck/ Logan's team TAGS Helo crew, Chamber
LaTrina glancing at Logan before he left was wide eyed yet tired from her healing. Her mother only nodded as she touched her daughter's arm and pulled her toward the helo.

"We don't get involved in something like this," she muttered.

"But," LaTrina said. Mrs. Adams shook her head and LaTrina hung her head.

They head off for the helo and climb aboard, not saying anything about what happened. After all, they don't know...much.

LaTrina's eyes take in the group already inside, her eyes tired as she sort of staggered to sit. Instead, she slid down until she was sitting, her head on her raised knees. That healing was very hard for her.

Mrs. Adams looked over at her daughter and sat down beside her, one arm about the girl's shoulders.

"Mmmm, can't imagine why," Logan muttered. "Alright... Cyke, take Kurt, Evo an' Storm an' find that control room. Chamber stays with me. And you..." he said, pointing a finger at Crow, "sit tight an' behave yerself or you'll find yerself tied nice an' snug like yer old friend there," he said indicating Gyrich. "And don't gimme that look either. You think yer the first shape shifter I've ever dealt with? If I gotta pin yer ass down with one o' these, " he said popping a claw then retracting it again, "I don't have a problem stickin' it through yer skull. You will have one o' those no matter what form ya' take, right?" He said sarcastically. "Have a seat," he suggested to her, and to the others, "Get goin'."

Cyclops nodded. "Yes sir," he said, turning to Kurt, Evo, and Storm. "Let's go find that room. Stay alert, we don't know what surprises Magneto might have left behind."

Stepping over to place the nightvision visor on one of the piles of gear, Scott turned back toward the elevator. Constrained by the cramped and crowded quarters, as he swung around, his elbow hit the turbolift's control panel.

Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Cyke/Tags: All There
“...You’d think he didn’t trust me, or something.”

As the turbolift door closed, Kurt exclaimed in a lilting, high-pitched tonality "That voice! Where have I heard that voice before?"

Kurt frowned, a puzzled look on his face.

"Was! Magneto is a TERRIBLE housekeeper!"

Scott's errant elbow action had activated the turbolift and, fortunately enough, had sent them to the proper floor. Above the elevator controls, a liquid crystal display flashed on, showing the plan of the floor they were destined for. For the nearest flicker of a second, an unknown font described the various rooms - control, lounge, staterooms - but was quickly replaced with English lettering and words.

The turbolift doorway opened out to a roughly 25 by 40 foot lounge, exposing a large pile of furniture piled against a doorway on the far right side of its curved wall. That doorway had been smashed open, its top half hanging loosly by its hinges: loose and broken bits of furniture laid nearby, although many of the more substantial pieces still looked serviceable. It was that which prompted Kurt's sudden outburst.

Were it not for the obvious disrepair surrounding the far right door, the rest of the lounge held a tastefully luxurious if somewhat spartan appearance to it, showing the habits of someone who could afford the best, yet had simple needs. Luxury was obvious not in gilt edging, but in the quality of craftsmanship.

A wide, straight set of inset stairs with a central mahogany railing started at the far side opposite, descending half a level. A double set of recessed quilted doors lead to what the plan on the display displayed as the control room, while a narrow hallway receeded to the right.

Chamber was silent, mentally and physically. He wasn't sure anymore of why he was still here and not with the others. Then he remembered. Oh yeah, he didn't pass off that much as different. Sure he had no mouth or nose but that was covered...pretty much.

His glance at Nightcrawler was interested.

*Well, we really should get out of here after all.*

His head turninigs were very pointed as he 'spoke'.

Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Crow/Tags: Wolvie, Chamber
For a long few seconds, Crow glowered at Logan, her eyes flashing a few different colors as she tried to make up her mind about what to feel. Finally bleak frustration took over, and the thief folded down neatly next to Gyrich, unslinging her slim backpack as she did so. She didn’t have anything too necessary in it, and if she needed to make a quick escape, it would have gotten in the way. Most of all, she was just glad to have it off.

Continuing to glare at Wolverine halfheartedly, Crow gave only the barest bit of attention to Kurt’s parting exclamation. Any other time she would have found it thoroughly amusing; now she was busy. She had come over here to do something, not to sit around and wait. It was enough to make her want to turn Logan into a chew toy. Presently Crow leaned back against the wall with a sigh, closing her eyes. When all was said and done, her stay here was pointless.

Whale: Upper Disk/Gyrich/Tags: Logan, Crow, Chamber
Somewhat to his surprise, Gyrich woke up. Unaware that the subterfuge would be ineffective against senses as heightened as Logan's, he slowed his breathing, feigning continued unconsciousness while he took stock of his situation.

He was lying on his stomach on a smooth, flat surface. The cool feel of it against his cheek and temple informed him -- not to his surprise -- that his nightvision gear had been removed. Undoubtedly his weapons and other gear, especially the nullifier, were gone as well. His hands were bound behind him snugly, but not tightly, with some kind of narrow strip. More information about the strip, such as its strength and how it was tied, he couldn't determine without motion that would give him away so he let the question pass for now. His ankles seemed to be similarly restrained.

Lying still, he listened. There was breathing and a sense of a person nearby and what sounded like a second person moving a little further away. His nose brought him only a faint whiff of ozone from the console he'd damaged.
