As the name indicates...this RPG will revolve around Crossroads and New Beginnings.CrossroadsWe would like to see characters come to a 'crossroads' in their lives where important and life changing decisions have to be made. These events can be very personal...i.e. a relationship beginning, ending or changing, or they can be moral or spiritual. Whatever is decided, they should show 'growth' for your character.New BeginningsThis can be any number of items as well and most likely will relate back to the 'crossroads' in your character(s)' life or lives and/or career. They may be starting a new career as teacher or student at Xavier's School for the Gifted or may have been selected to train for the upcoming X-Men team(s). Their 'new beginning' once again may be as simple as establishing a new relationship or changes in an old one.

As Logan studied the damaged console, he was completely aware of Crow taking a seat nearby. The barely audible sigh, body temperature and scent told him still that she wasn't wholely on the up-n-up about her presence here. She could trim the truth or outright lie, it didn't matter. He didn't trust her, wouldn't trust her, until he had all the facts and something told him that once he had all the facts he'd be trusting her even less.
He flipped a couple switches and pressed a few buttons seemingly knowing they weren't going to work anyway. As he did he casually spoke out.
"Mornin' Sunshine." With a final, flippant flip of a toggle switch he turned his back on the console, resting his backside against it and crossing his arms. Logan stared at the man lying prone on the floor then tilted his head to the side. "Sunshine.... I know yer awake," he informed the bound man, then his eyes shifted to the girl before returning to the still form lying beside her. "Bet ya' didn't know that when a person regains consciousness their whole system comes online. Goes on alert I guess ya' could say," he began to enlighten his guests quirking a crooked smirk at the girl to include her in his observations. "The change in yer scent caused by increased body temperature due to the fact that yer now awake an' alert is quite apparent. Yer pushin' adrenaline which causes yer heartbeat to pick up an' yer sweat glands have activated... not to mention that deeper breath ya' took as ya' regained consciousness, that is until ya' realized it an' purposely have tried to slow yer respirations."
Logan waited for a response from the "prisoner" and moved his eyes again to give Crow an emotionless dark stare, hoping that she was picking up the hint that he was onto her deception as well. 'Helping people, my ass,' he thought looking at her, 'helping herself is more like it.'
"You wanna lie there all day face down or you wanna talk?" he asked the man playing 'possum. Then he glanced at Chamber, "You. She tries anythin' funny... just blast her. I'm gettin' tired o' the games here an' my patience is about as thin as cheesecloth right about now."
He leaned against the damaged console for another brief moment then let his attention focus on the pile of equipment that Scott had stripped from the SEAL. Pushing away from the console, Logan walked over and started going through the arsenal and getting a closer look at all the fun gadgets and taking stock of the supplies... just a soldier's habit.
Whale: Storm Bridge/Gyrich/Tags: Logan, Chamber, Crow"You wanna lie there all day face down or you wanna talk?" [Logan] asked the man playing 'possum.
Gyrich recognized the voice. Wolverine. Great. This day just got better and better. With a sigh, he gave his body a twist and rolled, bringing up his knees at the same time. As he'd suspected, his ankles were bound as well as his wrists, and it made sitting up a more complicated exercise than it normally would have been.
Still, he was strong and flexible. Rolling himself into a tight ball, he brought his hands down and around in front of him. It caused the bindings -- he noted wryly that they were his own zip cuffs -- to bite into his wrists, but it was a minor pain, easily ignored. Mindful of Wolverine's instructions to someone regarding blasting, even though he hadn't been the designated target, he did no more beyond that than sitting up.
Leaning against the wall of the lift, Gyrich propped his hands on his drawn-up knees and regarded Wolverine over them. "What would you like to discuss?"

To tell the truth, Chamber was a bit shocked at Lo--Wolverine wanting him to blast the girl. He 'glanced' at her shock rippling about his body at the thought of using his power on her. His mind remembered what happened to his ex-girlfriend but then he stood straight. If that's what Wolverine wanted, that's what he would get though the thought was distasteful to him.

Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Crow/Tags: All There "Mornin' Sunshine."
Miri cracked one eye open just wide enough to glare at Wolverine again. Sometime, her eyes had turned to a dull red—finally noticing the slight difference it caused her vision, Crow gave the barest of frowns and forced them back to their usual green. The things seemed to have a mind of their own more and more often. If she wasn’t so busy trying to imitate Cyclops’ “death-stare”, she would have worried about it.
As she listened to his short lecture, she couldn’t help but agree, as she had seen the same signs herself, on the rare occasion her job wasn’t solitary. When Logan looked back to her, she didn’t even notice the brilliant, unnatural hue her open eye once again assumed, mimicking her sentiments toward him. Whatever “blasting” was, it really didn’t sound pretty.
Shutting her eye again, Crow tilted her head back to lean against the wall, as if trying to sleep. Not that she was going to get any, not with two hostile mutants in the same room. Her breathing slowed as she concentrated on the one sense she had that was more developed than Wolverine’s. It wasn’t likely to get her out of this, but knowing what was going on outside the Whale was a small comfort. Miri’s mind spread out, searching for the same dolphin pod she had dealt with earlier. Without too much searching she “found” them, surprisingly, not too far off. Hopefully they wouldn’t mind a bit more work…

"A good interior designer, though," Scott said, glancing around. Thoughtfully, he took in the stairs, the doors, and the wreckage. "It seems as if he had a rather upset visitor. It may be that visitor is still around. Keep an eye out."
"Wolverine," he said in the radio as he headed for what were ostensibly the control room doors. "There's been some trouble down here. It looks as if someone tried to barricate a set of doors to a central lounge area. In vain, as the doors have been smashed through. Should I send up some of the wreckage, see if you can pick up any familiar scents?"
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Gyrich/Tags: Logan, Crow, Chamber
The mid-morning Mediterranean sun gleamed shafts of light throughout the storm clouds which had earlier gathered, igniting the water underneath with a brilliant luminiscencence. As the helos lifted from the Olympia, they passed only a short distance over the water before alighting on land, a pair of islands. One was small and windswept, rising only enough to reveal rough pastures dotted by small, neat croftsholds, surrounded as they were by low stone walls. The other island, Thera, evidenced a larger mass. It was filled with vegetation and topped with a broken volcano to one side. The island revealed a long history over its ancient face, with a sandstone fortification and piers to the south and east. Deep surface scarring filled the central southern region, which itself was punctuated on the north by a massive caravan park of temporary housing while running southwards along the coast, a twisted mass of brick and ironworks from an earlier industrial age rusted peacefully away. At the far southwestern tip an old lighthouse dominated a rise in elevation, a short distance from which columns of an ancient Greek temple rose along a sunbaked marble dais in the middle of a closely cut clearing.
Between the islands the sea roiled with steam and disturbed water, revealing a geological continuance to the island's long if mostly unnoticed history.
On the opposite side of the felled volcano, a modern community stretched along well-maintained roads, one of which led to an airstrip whose southern tip was still under either construction or expansion, one could not tell. Along one of the taxiways a line of mid-sized commercial planes impatiently sat, the kind that held 20 or 40 odd passengers each. In fact, one of them was working its way towards the terminal. The northern edge of the airstrip was a hive of activity as military helicopters lifted and settled in a strange organized dance, and a small number of uniformed soldiers waved and escorted the evacuees towards a smallish terminal.
The terminal itself was an aged stucco affair with tiled floors and vaguely retro-modern appointments. At one time when it was first put up in the 1950's or 60's, it would have been classifed as "nice". It had since declined, however, to that state of grace in which travel agents would have described it dissapointingly as "charming", meaning that while tidy and yet servicable, there was nothing of interest to the passing traveller beyond counting the multigenerational repairs to the plaster and stucco walls, or watching the weeds as they poked their way through the aged asphalt. Despite this, the terminal held a serene normality about itself, coming as it had from an era which only imagined itself as anxious.
An orderly confusion was all about.
A color TV hanging from a wall bracket insde the terminal blasted CNN throughout and could be heard from outside the structure's open doors. Wolf Blitzer and Debra Amos were nattering to each other on the Olympia incident, while two scrawls ran at the bottom of the screen. One gave a stock market report whose readings trending sharply downwards, while the other contained entertainment news, blissfully oblivious to the state of the world: Michael Jackson declaring himself as a space alien, a new Bradd Pitt movie, a well-known lawyer dying of a heart attack, his will leaving a multi-million dollar estate to an exotic animal shelter.
Blather.
People in various emotional states poked and prodded each other accidentally, or waited outside but still within earshot. There seemed to be no organization at all to the rescue effort, besides the one or two soldiers who had waved them away from the helicopters. Across a chain link fence which was separated from the terminal by a parking lot and scruffy field of grass, a couple dozen bored island residents looked on, some holding out bottles of water and other small items for the evacuees while a few busied themselves with video cameras.
Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Chamber/Tags: All There
Chamber continued to watch Crow though he was still a bit hesistant on using his powers on her. They were after all, a lot dangerous.
His glance at Wolverine though seemed to stem from his reluctance but he turned away to watch Crow, making sure she didn't try anything.
OOC: Sorry for its shortness. Could think of nothing else.
Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Gyrich/Tags: Logan, Chamber, Crow
Hearing Scott's voice over the radio, Logan snatched the device from his belt and listened intently. Barricaded a lounge?
Scott's question about sending up some pieces to trace was good, his brow arched, pleased with the suggestion. "Good idea, kid, send 'em up. How much damage was done down there? Is it still workable?"
He hadn't forgotten about Gyrich's cute reply, but he was going to make the man wait a bit before turning his attention back to him. He really needed to get things moving and find out what exactly is working on this bucket.

"We're approaching the control room now," Scott replied over the radio, suiting deed to word.
"Nightcrawler," he said as he moved, "grab some of the pieces from the broken doors and the barricade and take them up to Wolverine, please. Evo, you're with me."

Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Crow/Tags: All There
Evo grinned as he took in the smashed doors, then simply nodded and stepped forward, stopping at where the door stood open to see if the opening was large enough to fit his 4' tall gaunt frame through, then looking back at Cyclops. ~Well, Cyclops. Think I should try it?~ he asked the older man calmly, even as he considered how he might be able to fit in.
Andreas had finally gotten up the courage to poke around some of the consoles on the bridge, and scanned the controls casually while Wolverine and Chamber were busy with their "guests". He didn't really understand why they were there or who the players were and he wished he never had his powers in the first place, but at least the machines here would keep his mind off of things, such as "what next?".
"And just what did that hairy mutant mean by blast?" he thought to himself as he leaned forward to study a label.
He reeled off in his head some of the more familiar controls from his manuals and the handful of simulator exercises for his class III engineering license - the maritime equal to driving a car very slowly in a huge deserted parking lot early Sunday morning -
"Bow planes? vertical thrusters? What kind of craft is this?" he quietly muttered.
~Jonah's Whale, "A" Deck Lounge~
"A good interior designer, though. It seems as if he had a rather upset visitor. It may be that visitor is still around. Keep an eye out."
Whereupon Kurt swiveled his head, scanning the area with a nervous flick of his eyebrows.
"Good idea, kid, send 'em up. How much damage was done down there? Is it still workable?"
Kurt filled the few moments of silence which followed by raising his voice so that it could be heard over the radio. "It looks like just some furniture and the door, just like -- " Kurt took a deep intake of breath. He was about to mention a party he'd been to lately, but ... it would have just prompted some difficult questions.
He grabbed what he could of the bits of strewn furniture and the doorway to what now appeared to be the toilet - he found a bit with heavy dents in it, evidencing repeated strikes. While Evo poked about the bathroom door and Scott made for the what the turbolift panel had marked as the control room, he crouched as if to teleport but then changed his mind, mindful that the brimstone smell might make Professor Logan's analysis more difficult.
A moment later he had appeared on the flying bridge, pieces of demolition scrap clutched awkwardly in his blue hands. With obstructed vision, he saw Gyrich had turned himself about and was conscious now. "Your men are safe - " he said, hesitantly, for he was not sure whether or not Logan wanted anyone else to talk to the man. Still, it seemed harmless enough, and would have been cruel not to say as much.
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Gyrich/Tags: Logan, Crow, Chamber
While Wolverine ignored him, Gyrich leaned his head back against the wall, taking the opportunity to rest while he studied his surroundings and enforced company.
Andreas, the young man from the Olympia, looked jumpy. Given how far out in the deep water he was, that was perfectly understandable. What Gyrich did find curious was the way he held himself apart from the others. He was over examining a console, peering close to read a label and muttering to himself, but his body language was about a half-step away from huddling. Scared and alone. Gyrich made a note -- keep him frightened enough to be biddable, but not so much as to push him into a panic.
A thin young man, face muffled to the tops of his cheekbones and completely unreadable stood nearby. Gyrich had yet to hear him say a word. He was apparently the one Wolverine had addressed as Chamber and instructed to blast the shapeshifter girl if she moved, so it seemed the commando wasn't alone as a prisoner.
The girl herself sat nearby. She wasn't bound, but trying to tie up someone who could just morph right out of the ropes struck him as an exercise in futility. She looked appropriately surly at being under guard, but that meant nothing -- if he made a play, her self-interest would trump all other considerations.
Not to mention any such play would have to wait until Wolverine was out of the immediate picture. The kids Gyrich felt confident he could handle, either with cunning or brute force, but the older X-Man was another matter entirely.
As he contemplated possible strategems, the commando caught a glimpse of motion out of the corner of his eye. Glancing in that direction, he was treated to the bizarre sight of a fuzzy blue demon climbing up out of the hatch carrying a toilet. Even more startling was when the spoke directly to him.
"Your men are safe - " he said, hesitantly
Gyrich blinked. He was glad to hear it -- the SEALs were good men -- but he was surprised at the consideration. "Thank you," he said after a moment, and the gratitude was sincere.

Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Crow/Tags: Logan, Chamber, Gyrich
Crow pulled her mind back from the pod sharply, slamming her mental barriers back into place. On her contact with the cetaceans, she had noticed them busy, and opened up her ability a bit more. It was only then Miri realized they were fishing. Without her usual guards up, she also happened to feel what they were eating. Wincing slightly, the teen discarded the use of outside help—listening in on fishy slaughter was bad for her brain. As it was, the slight pressure behind her eyes signaled of a headache to reward her for her efforts.
Opening her eyes again, Crow looked around in time to see Nightcrawler come back up, and spared herself a small smirk upon recognizing some of the debris he held. That had been fun. Startled by his sudden assurance to Gyrich, her smile disappeared, replaced by thoroughly neutral contemplation. He was still a good kid, if a bit slow. OOC: Sorry, I can't think.

Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Logan Tags: All ThereAndreas had finally gotten up the courage to poke around some of the consoles on the bridge, and scanned the controls casually while Wolverine and Chamber were busy with their "guests".
"Bow planes? Vertical thrusters? What kind of craft is this?" he quietly muttered.
Logan glanced at the newcomer, seeing him scanning the console closely. He'd heard his mutterings loud and clear and replied, "An expensive one, so don't touch anythin'."
He gave Andreas a look that could've meant a great many things; Wolverine had the tendency to simply scowl... when angry, uncertain, confused, neutral and even when he was in a happy or peaceful mood. Scowling was simply a Wolverine trait.
A sound from behind him caused Logan to turn around to watch the Elf crawl through a hatchway. He smirked as he walked over to meet him, "Smart move, kid, I was so sure you were gonna bamf up here with these things. I could still track any scent, but ya' showed some forethought there... good job." It wasn't too often that someone impressed the Wolverine enough to get a comment of praise, so this was a good thing for the fuzzy blue Elf.
"Your men are safe - " Kurt told Gyrich, his tone a bit hesitant.
Gyrich blinked. He was glad to hear it -- the SEALs were good men -- but he was surprised at the consideration. "Thank you," he said after a moment, and the gratitude was sincere and Wolverine caught his eye as he moved toward Nightcrawler.
"We're not monsters," he told the soldier, "despite what you might think." Logan took one of the items offered from Kurt and didn't even have to bring it up under his nose before his scowl deepened and he turned cold, ice blue eyes on Miri. "You," he nearly growled. Handing the object back to Kurt, he marched toward her. Grabbing her by the upper arm, he hauled her to her feet, snarling in her face, "You were aboard this craft.... and you caused some damage....... why?" As he asked the one-word question the word in itself caused him to snarl as he spoke it, showing her his large fangs. The grip on her arm was nearly painful, he was sure, but it ensured he'd maintain his grasp even if she tried to evade him by shifting shape. "Who belongs to the other stench I picked up? Who was down there with you?" he snarled at the girl, his eyes piercing hers as he waited for her answer.
Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Chamber Tags: All There
Silently, Chamber just stays near Logan. He wasn't about to leave even if he tried. Things tend to go wrong and he wasn't about to be on that. Too dangerous in his opinion.
Re: Whale/Cyke/Tags: Kurt, Storm, Evo~Well, Cyclops. Think I should try it?~ [Evo] asked the older man calmly, even as he considered how he might be able to fit in.
Cyclops cocked his head, hearing a buzz-click sound as of a lock disengaging inside the padded doors when Evo leaned close to examine them. An automatic reaction to their proximity, he wondered, or had someone inside done it?
Beside the doors was a touchpad, with straightforward open/close buttons. ~Yes,~ he answered moving into position where he could cover the other mutant and poising a hand over the control pad. ~But be careful. You see anyone in there, let me know and duck.~
Re: Whale: Storm Bridge/Gyrich/ Tags: All There"We're not monsters," [Wolverine] told the soldier, "despite what you might think."
Gyrich returned Logan's gaze, saying nothing at first. Instead he simply watched in silence as the mutant, eyes lit with cold fury, reached down and grabbed his fellow prisoner. Wolverine dragged the girl to her feet and held her with bruising force as he snarled questions at her.
"Monsters," Gyrich said at last, in a tone as dry as the Serengeti. "Whyever would I think that?"
Re: Whale: Upper Disk/Gyrich/Tags: Logan, Crow, Chamber
Logan let the girl drop back down to the floor and he turned his glare on the mouthy soldier beside her. "What'dya expect? We got people comin' at us from all sides, some mutants, some human... I don't know you from Jack, Jack... or her. An' neither one o' you have given me any reason to see you as anythin' other than enemies. You think defendin' ourselves makes us monsters, huh...? Soldier boy? You got some nerve. Comin' at us armed to the hilt..." With a thought he nodded his head toward the arsenal stacked nearby, "what is that thing, huh? You all had one... an' everytime one of us got near one o' you, we lost our mutant powers." Logan lowered himself, crouching beside the larger man to look him in the eye. "You wanna see another side o' me? You gimme a reason to show it to ya'."
Pausing a moment so they could consider each other close up, Logan stared into the other's eyes, then he stood up an' began to walk away from the human's judgements and get his team on track.

Gyrich arched a single crimson eyebrow, meeting Logan's gaze stare for stare. "Armed to the teeth? Unlike you, with your claws? Or your blaster boys Chamber and Cyclops? Or Storm?" With his bound hands, he gestured toward Andreas. "Not to mention we've all seen what he can and will do." He snorted. "I wasn't the guy who brought weapons of mass destruction to this party. That was your pal Magneto. You show up in company with a known terrorist to rescue a couple of mutants who caused scores of casualties rampaging through a civilian ship, and you want proof of my good intentions? You threaten to gut one of my men and then cry that you're only defending yourselves?"
Gyrich shook his head. "We're your prisoners. You can do as you like to us and there's not a damn thing we can do to stop you, but don't go trying to prettify it with bogus righteous outrage. That dog just won't hunt."
Background: Many, many years ago, Charles Francis Xavier established Xavier's School for the Gifted. Also, seeing other Mutants misusing and abusing their powers, he created the first generation of the X-Men.This original team was trained and lead by an old friend of his...Logan, aka Wolverine. Logan's co-leader was a young woman and student named Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Once the team was trained and fielded on active missions, they took on the additional responsibility of teaching and helping new Mutants deal with their powers. On one horrible night, the X-Men were fielded to stop a particularly powerful Mutant and his 'gang'. The 'intelligence' received on this Mutant and his cohorts was sketchy and actually turned out to be a set-up to entrap the X-Men and take them captive. In the ensuing melee', 'things' happened and a number of the team were killed outright or severely injured. After making sure his remaining team-mates were going to be okay, Logan left. Xavier has not, to current time, explained his absence or even whether or not he survived.Current Time/Game Time: Almost seven years later, as Human/Mutant incidents are on the rise, Xavier once again sees a need for a Mutant 'police force'. He sees this new X-Men team as a force for good and a way to help peacefully integrate the rapidly emerging Mutant society with the established Human society. To this end, he has contacted Logan and asked him to 'come home' and train his 'new' team.
Logan has reluctantly agreed. Can shadows from their past be put aside for the good of the new X-Men? How will the surviving members of the original team react and what will they do as 'truths' are learned about that disastrous night?Note: We want the new X-Men to include younger versions of the old familiar characters such as Scott, Jean, Beast etc...as well as many of the OCC’s and other Canon characters that are available. Please ask the Staff BEFORE stating or establishing that your character was one of the old, now disbanded, original X-Men.
