As the name indicates...this RPG will revolve around Crossroads and New Beginnings.CrossroadsWe would like to see characters come to a 'crossroads' in their lives where important and life changing decisions have to be made. These events can be very personal...i.e. a relationship beginning, ending or changing, or they can be moral or spiritual. Whatever is decided, they should show 'growth' for your character.New BeginningsThis can be any number of items as well and most likely will relate back to the 'crossroads' in your character(s)' life or lives and/or career. They may be starting a new career as teacher or student at Xavier's School for the Gifted or may have been selected to train for the upcoming X-Men team(s). Their 'new beginning' once again may be as simple as establishing a new relationship or changes in an old one.

Re: Whale: Operations, Command Bridge/ Tags Scott and Gyrich
Automatically, and with the deftness of long practice, Gyrich checked the gun and slipped it back into its holster before tucking it into his boot. "Great," he muttered at the warning. He'd noticed that the doors seemed to not react to him, and that explained it. "A racist ship." On the other hand, it meant that there was mutant detection technology aboard, and that would be something useful to acquire if the opportunity arose.
"After you," [Logan] invited Gyrich to exit first when the door slid open. Once they'd stepped through, both men paused, scanning the area that lay before them. "So. Where d'ya' wanna start?"
The commando glanced around the wrecked lounge. "There," he said, indicating the door opposite those of the control room.
Re: Whale: Control Room/Evo/Tag: Logan, Storm, Cyke
"The electronics room?" Wolverine asked, wondering if Nemesis knew where he was going or was just picking doors at random. Of all the places to check first... the room that would be the easiest and most accessible to sabotage. "You seem to know exactly where yer goin'...."
Logan watched him closely, nostrils flaring briefly as he assessed Gyrich's physical condition as he considered the man's motives. If he had something nefarious in mind he was trained to hide it well. Giving a glance around the large common area, Wolverine headed for the door unhurriedly. Pushing between an overturned heavy chair and a decorative fountain, he kept Gyrich's position in mind as he led the way to the opposite doors.
He stopped short of it and keyed the radio, "Wolverine to Cyclops... entering computer electronics and sensors area on Level A. Standby." Stepping up to the doors they opened and he turned to look at the large soldier, allowing him to enter first, his eyes glued to the soldier as he passed by.

Re: Whale: Control/Crow/ Tag Evo, Kurt, Chamber
~~~ Control room ~~~
One of Kurt's last actions before leaving for the grav truck was to turn to Evo. "Evo? I've seen some really nifty floor to ceiling displays around here, is there any way you can put a map of the ship up on them so Wolverine and ... army guy ... can find their way around, please?"
(feel free to describe them in your own words with as much imagination as you desire. Just know every major living space will have one)
~~~ Dull dull dull boring boring boring computer and electronics area ~~~
(Generic blinking and humming boxes. Half the stuff looks like stuff you've never seen before except in the comics or science fiction, and half is conventional computer server room stuff - racks, boxes, cables, etc, and a low cabinet or two with manuals (Sun, Cisco, FreeBSD - nothing weird, etc) and other server room stuff. Nothing to see here, move along unless you're planning a surprise)
(In general, if its not on the list posted previously or there's a special reason/special plotting you can gloss over stuff. Anything not directly related to the plotting already discussed is going to get short shrift)
(For navigational convenience there is a freight elevator in the hall that leads to B and C levels, or a wide set of stairs in the lounge that drop down four feet to the A Sub level accomodations which includes Magnetos office and stateroom. Side stairs from the curved hallway lead down to the B level. Yes, I would throw a split level ranch style spaceship at you, wouldn't I?)
Re: Whale: Control/Crow/ Tag Evo, Kurt, Chamber
Chamber 'glanced' at Kurt in wonder. Now when were they going to leave? He was ready to leave this place about now. It was so five minutes ago.
His 'glance' at Kurt was a hope that the blue mutant was ready to leave.
*So, when are we leaving?*
OOC: Sorry for the shortness. Was all I could think of.
Re: Whale: Control/Crow/ Tag Evo, Kurt, Chamber
It only took a minute for Nightcrawler to navigate to front hanger bay on the other side of the turbolift, and, pausing for a moment to reflect on the instructions he'd just gone over he stepped into the driver's side compartment. After another moment to turn on his image inducer *quick glance at the mirror - ho kaaay, human looking* he punched a button. He was quickly rewarded by the hum of the trucks gravitic drive, then reached his right hand up to grab the garage door opener tucked under the visor.
"Big garage door," he commented to himself as the rooftop oval cycled open. With the sun streaming in, he punched the accelerator, lurching forward. With a bit of a gasp he quickly hit the autopilot and the vehicle slowed appreciatively and rose out of the hanger bay. Sigh. Big sigh. "OK, everything is still in one piece."
He dialed the entertainment console to CNN, and saw the ongoing coverage of the mutant cruise ship hijacking was still filling everyone's time. Apparently the survivors had been whisked to the airport terminal area.
Keeping low in the water, he made book for the island at top speed for a line of palm trees with a road behind it. Fortunately the Whale had moved some from its original position, and where they had surfaced was not immediately under anyone's flight path.
Quote:"I be t'ankful," he said to Latrina, thinking her mother's words to Wanda were pretty pointless, considering he figured they would have fell on deaf ears... or emotions, for that matter.
Karina glanced at the girl who was close to Gambit. She didn't know what to say, her emotions were not really in synch, so to speak.
Her hand went into her pocket, to where the seeds were and she wondered in silence.
Wanda glanced at the girl LaTrina and shrugged harshly. Her frown went back to Gambit and she turned away quickly. She was ready to leave this island. It was so boring.
LaTrina gave a smile for Gambit before moving to stand next to her mother.
"Its okay," she said softly. Mrs. Adams placed an arm about her daughter, who leaned into it. The teenager was a bit tired from the healing she had done but that was something she expected.
"So, what are you all going to do?" Mrs. Adams asked.
Red-on-black eyes looked thoughtful, "I be t'inkin' I be contactin' a frien' t' come get us," he said, looking at LaTrina's mother, "As much as I be likin' de idea o' bein' on holid'y de timin' jus' be righ' o'f. I no' be likin' wha' I be seein' as we be flyin' o'er dis place."
He stood there, hoping his 'team' would agree with him. "It be time t' be gettin' all o' yo' somewh're safe."
Karina glanced at Gambit again nodding in agreement.
"I for one would like to leave too. It don't feel right," she said hand still in her pocket. A seed in her clenched fist. "Will there be any trouble?"
Scarlet Witch frowned at that even more fiercely (if that's at all possible). She for one wanted to leave all alone. And her expression showed it. "Well, get on with it. I don't like what's happening and if I have to fight to leave this island, I will," she said.
Mrs. Adams nodded in agreement, her arm still about her daughter.
"I would agree. Whatever was happening I really don't want to be in the middle of it. And if there's going to be casualities and people hurt, I definately don't want LaTrina to sense that. She could hurt herself in healing too many."
LaTrina glanced up at her mother and shook her head, "Mother, I'll be fine. I know the dangers of healing too many," she said.
"LaTrina, any healing saps you no matter how small or large. I can't take the chance of your overdoing it," Mrs. Adams said. She turned back to Gambit, "If you could call this friend, I'd be grateful."
The Cajun nodded, "I be havin' t' go ou' dere," he motioned in the general direction, the mobile phone already in his hand, "Dere be non signal in dis 'ere makeshift hospital," and with that, he headed towards the exit, motioning for all of them to follow him.
He didn't want to leave it open to chance that any of them could be hurt in his abscence.
"Finally!" Wanda said, disdainfully. She was ready to get out of this place. She didn't like it being any closer to sick people to last her lifetime.
She followed Gambit slowly staying in the distance from him.
"Yay!" Karina exclaimed. She was excited to be leaving the hospital and glad that they were leaving this place. It had been such a long time and she wanted out now. She moved to follow Gambit sliding in to walk directly behind him.
Mrs. Adams nodded, "We'd like to follow, if you don't mind," she said. LaTrina glanced at her mother wondering what she could be about. Whatever it was, there seemed to be some kind of resonation about her that even LaTrina could feel and if possible touch, if she could.
"Mom, what's wrong?" she asked. Mrs. Adams shook her head and indicated that she should follow Gambit and the others.
The Cajun was relieved when they all fell in step behind him, casting a glance in the healer's mother's way, wondering why her mood had changed all of a sudden, something not missed by his keen ears and the tone of her voice.
Outside, he walked as far away from the hospital as he could, before stopping and looking down at his mobile phone, "Still dere be non..." holding it up, he suddenly smiled, "Dere we go," and proceeded to press in some numbers. As he went to press Call, he happened to look up, spotting something that, to him, looked a little odd coming down the road, and when he narrowed his eyes to get a better look at the driver, his finger moved away from the Call button, his smile becoming a grin, "Well, den, don' he be lookin' familiar," he said, motioning to the truck, "Looks like dose aboard de ship no' be f'rgettin' us aft'r all," and with those words said, he waited, out in the open, knowing Kurt would spot them soon enough.
OOC: Thanks for the wonderful JP's with me, girls. Hugs.
Re: Whale: Control Room/Evo/Tag: Logan, Storm, Cyke
Kurt leaned out the drivers side door, placing both elbows against the doorframe as he leaned out in a casual manner. "Excuse me, but is this the road to the Co-a-chella Carrot Festival? I think I maybe I should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque after all..." he said with a goofy grin.[1]
He then took on a more serious look, saying quietly so only Gambit could hear: "I think that bullfight on the Jonah's Whale is over now, it seems Wolverine and that crazy army guy have made some kind of truce and we can all go home now, just as soon as they're all done tromping over the ship."
Noticing the others ***AND QUITE CERTAIN HIS IMAGE INDUCER WAS ON SO HE WOULD APPEAR HUMAN*** he noticed the others and leaned out even further to wave cheerfully at them. "Halloo! Are you a friend of Gambit's? Dig these crazy wheels, I guess you can call it a leftover from all that crazyness we've all been through."

Re: Whale: Inspection of the ship.... Logan,Gyrich
After finding nothing of importance in the electronics room Logan shut the door, arching a brow at Gyrich's back as the man continued his search. With a sigh of irritation Wolverine slung his weapon onto his shoulder, his left hand coming down on the pistol butt tucked in his waist band, just to make sure it was still there, and followed Nemesis to the next room.
Gyrich was waiting for him outside a closed door and as Wolverine stepped up alongside him the door to the Armory slid open. Logan's brows arched high in surprise at the stock of weaponry aboard the ship. With a mixed sense of awe and dismay, he followed Nemesis inside. While the soldier made his inspection for WMDs, Wolverine scanned the variety of weaponry available to them... just in case.
Keying his radio he made a quick report to Cyclops as to their progress. 'Nothing found so far.... present location, Ship's Armory...'Edited by: Wolvie6 at: 4/12/06 3:22 am
Wanda gazed at the truck with a whatever sort of look.
"Finally! At least we'll be getting out of this place. And its not too soon for me," she muttered loudly folding her arms across her chest though she continued to follow after the others.
Karina:
Karina was happy to be out of the hospital. And she was partiularily happy that she was on the move. Her eyes rolled at Wanda's statement wondering if that girl would ever relax.
Re: Thera Island, Outside Hospital, Gambit, etc
Mrs. Adams felt sad, sad that there were mutants in the world and that some people didn't like them so much. What would they do if they knew her daughter was one? Would they reject her or worst, try and hurt her in any way? After all, she did help a lot of people and was would be her reward.
Mrs. Adams sighed at that. She wanted to protect her daughter but how. Perhaps, wherever this Gambit person ended up, there would be others who would stand beside her and protect her too. But then, what would happen next? Would she ever see her daughter again?
LaTrina gazed at her mother, wondering at her sudden 'sadness'. The teenager frowned, not sure of what to say. Then she turned to Gambit to ask him,

Gambit chuckled, relieved to finally have a way off an island that seemed to have been forgotten by the majority of the world, “Non, bu’ in yoah attempts t’ be findin’ it, yo’ wanna be takin’ us all wit’ yo’,” he stated, grinning at the teleporter.
Quote:"And who are you talking about?"
Remy grinned at himself. Of course not everyone with him was aware the human before them in the driver’s side of the truck was actually a blue furred, German, ex circus attraction, red-on-black eyes turning to look at the woman, “It be Kurt,” he said, “A frien’ dat can be trust’d.”
Eyes roaming over Scarlet Witch, and the happy face of Karina, the Cajun looked over the truck, “Wh’er we all be fittin’?” he asked, not sure he’d seen such a machine before in his life, and if he had, he didn’t remember it.
Control Room/Evo/Tag: Logan, Storm, Cyke
Evo simply grinned at Cyclops, tapping several keys to overlay the suggested map on the floor to wall displays...overlay so that indicators wouldn't be lost in the display effort. He even made sure to have the ship armories to be blinking red as a bit of a joke on Nemesis...and to help the man out.

((I really should have made it something "normal" like a flying Hummer. The picture is a GMC Pad, which is a concept truck designed for urban professionals priced out of the west coast housing market - yes, a high tech RV. The real one does not fly))
"Magneto's a showoff!' Kurt exclaimed, gesturing with his thumb back over the vehicle body. "But I think ... " and with that, he ducked his head back in to scan the controls, and with a "Aha! There we go!" found the control for the ramp.
He popped his head out again. "But its got a GREAT sound system," he smiled as German techno suddenly blasted out the window as the elf gave an enthustiastic "thumbs up". His head and left arm were still hanging languidly out of the window. "And it flies, too! Well, hovers actually. I said it HOVERS!"
It was hard to hear him what with the music.

Re: Whale: Inspection of the ship.... Logan,Gyrich
While Logan strolled slowly around the armory, glancing at Nemesis once in a while, something caught his attention from the corridor. He wasn't sure what it was... a flash of light, motion, a sound...?
His face scrunched into a thoughtful scowl and he threw a glance toward Gyrich, then stepped toward the door. His head tilted side to side, unaware, as he used his senses to pick up any other sounds from the corridor as he approached the door.
Setting his back to the door jamb, he slowly unslung his weapon from his shoulder. Tightening his grip on it, he threw one more quick glance over his shoulder at his companion to mark his position, just in case something was about to go down. Then he took a quick stride into the corridor, leveling the powerful weapon to take aim.
His eyes darted about, not seeing anyone there. Then he noticed the large lighted display a few yards down the corridor. The small electrical discharge and the light of the holographic display was what must've caught his attention.
Straightening his posture and closing his stance, Wolverine walked over to it, curious to see what it was. Standing in front of the giant display, his eyes scanned the map. He cocked an eyebrow as he identified his position on the map; marked by a blinking red light. Then his gaze shot to the other blinking red lights scattered across the face of the holographic display...... armory, armory.... arm.....
The corner of his mouth quirked upward in a wry smirk as he realized the team in the Control Room had marked all the areas that Gyrich was most likely interested in.
With a small grin, he turned away from the display and walked back to the Armory door, where he leaned against the jamb again nonchalantly, a spark of humor glowing in his eye at Cyke's... or Evo's... choice to simply make it easy for Nemesis to find the areas on board he'd be focused on sniffing out anyway. Re: Whale: Inspection of the ship.... Logan,GyrichOOC: For some bizarre reason, I can't seem to locate the maps of the level of the Whale that has the control room and main staterooms (the rest are right where I remember them being, but not those). Unfortunately, that seems to be the deck where the armory is, so please forgive any excessive vagueness. Basically, the plan is to go clockwise around the center hall, hitting each room in turn, then repeating the process on the lower deck.
As Kurt sent the larger 'shuttle' winging toward Thera Island, the surfacing of the Whale brought Gyrich's radio to life. At almost the same moment, Cyclops' voice came over Logan's comlink, informing the mutant: "We're topside."
After a brief glance at Wolverine, Nemesis triggered the transmit on his radio. "Fleet command, this is Nemesis. Recognition code Alpha-phi-delta-one-one. There's a shuttle en route to Thera Island. It is not hostile." As he spoke, he tapped additional confirmation of his identity via click code. Others might be listening, but only those with special forces training -- like his men and Wolverine -- would be able to understand it. "It's simply transport. Don't fire upon it or interfere with it.
"I'm aboard the bogey. Hold all fire. It is no longer, repeat no longer under Magneto's control. The X-Men have ... taken custody of it." *I'm speaking without coercion,* tapped the click subtext. "I'm conducting a search for ... banned cargo. The X-Men have agree to turn over any aboard in return for being allowed to leave peacefully."
*How are my men?* "Fleet, confirm."
***
Logan's brows arched high in surprise at the stock of weaponry aboard the ship. With a mixed sense of awe and dismay, he followed Nemesis inside. While the soldier made his inspection for WMDs, Wolverine scanned the variety of weaponry available to them... just in case.
Gyrich's own eyes widened, then narrowed, at the weapons in their serried ranks. Some he recognized, some he could make reasonable guesses at their operation, and some were totally alien. But all were clearly weapons. "What was that about my being armed to the teeth?" he murmured, moving to give the room and its contents an examination both quick and thorough.
The same procedure was repeated, with minor variations, throughout the rest of that deck and down to the next. Other than a muttered comment to the effect that Stateroom A4 should be counted a biohazard itself, Gyrich worked almost entirely in silence.
Re: Thera Island, Outside Hospital, Gambit, etc
((That leaves the launch tubes and Magneto's office to RP out, both with big plot bunnies hanging off of them. I also have no issue with some/all of the conventional weaponry disappearing nor with massive data dumps from the ship's computers, neither of which need to be RP'd out unless Wolverine has major issues. Assume there will be a wrapup post where the Whale lands, the big belly ramp opens up, all confiscated weaponry is hauled out by Gyrich on pallets, and the Whale flies off to New York - or something similar to that. The X-Men will need the Whale for some future missions I have planned out, and the Transpad will be needed to allow players to pop in and out of adventures as r/l circumstances dictate; Both are Deux Ex Machina machines to make gaming easier.))
"There's a shuttle en route to Thera Island. It is not hostile."
"Squid Alpha 1, that's affirmative, we read you. No interference."
*I'm speaking without coercion,*
*Confirmed. The Greeks are running the show now. They want us out. Our hands are tied.* was the answering click code. The operator on the other end either intentionally or unintentionally signaled "French" followed by a correction code before notating "Greek" in his transmission. It may have been a jab at their socialist administration, but it may also have been a simple accident.
Re: Whale inspection/ Logan, Gyrich
As he leaned against the door jamb of the Armory his radio squawked with Cyke's voice informing him the Whale was now topside. His eyes flicked to Gyrich who, at the same time, threw him a glance and reached for his radio.
Wolverine listened intently as Nemesis contacted his team, searching for any hidden messages in his words... or theirs. Then he picked up on the click code being transmitted and he listened even more intently. All seemed to be going fine... his eyes narrowed slightly at the "French" to "Greek" correction, but if that was a hidden message it wasn't obvious to him nor did it seem pertinent at the moment.
Once Nemesis ended his transmission, he finished in the Armory and Wolverine followed him around the deck. As the door to Stateroom A4 opened, he was nearly pushed back by the stench inside the room. He had to hold his breath, letting out a soft cough now and again as he waited for Gyrich to finish his search inside, making a comment about "bio hazard" that Logan HAD to agree with.
They continued along each private stateroom until they came upon one that was a bit different than the others. Wolverine inhaled through his nose in an obvious fashion, scenting the air for its owners familiar identity.
"Magneto," he said, a growl underlining his words. "This is Magneto's quarters," he informed his companion.
Re: Control Room/Evo/Tag: Logan, Storm, Cyke
The cabin was more spacious then the others, being divided into a private office and separate sleeping arrangement with its own, separate bath repleat with bathtub, and a small wetbar in the office area. The furnishings, while utilitarian and simple were also very finely constructed. They betrayed an understated elegance.
Most prominant in the office, however, were the floor to ceiling wall display - larger than most they had seen before. When they entered, the display initially showed the ship's layout which Evo had set up, with areas of interest fronted in phosphorescent red. It blinked, and instead now displayed a map of the solar system. Tagged in blinking red was an asteroid on an eliptical, earth-crossing orbit. It was tagged as 2003 QQ47. Also on the display, a white softly blinking document icon, labelled "X (personal from M)".
Also within the office and quite hard to miss, was a raised model some 2 feet wide and 4 feet long, on top of a credenza. It depicted what looked like a futuristic asteroid base, repleat with domes, structures, and landing pads. Some of the smaller landing pads showed one inch diameter models of the Jonah's Whale. Other pads held comparatively larger vessels which looked vaguely cargoish. None sprouted obvious weaponry, nor were weapons obvious on the rest of the display. Closer examination would show the domes, which occupied easily half the total coverage area, each contained an earth environment - all different and unique. Massive drives embedded within denoted the complex would be capable of movement.
At the base of the model was a name plate. it read Covenant.
((The display is a touch screen. The document is passworded; after some fumbling Wolverine will be able to guess what it is //make something up, the more ironic the better//)) Edited by: Paid by the Word at: 4/14/06 9:18 am
Background: Many, many years ago, Charles Francis Xavier established Xavier's School for the Gifted. Also, seeing other Mutants misusing and abusing their powers, he created the first generation of the X-Men.This original team was trained and lead by an old friend of his...Logan, aka Wolverine. Logan's co-leader was a young woman and student named Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Once the team was trained and fielded on active missions, they took on the additional responsibility of teaching and helping new Mutants deal with their powers. On one horrible night, the X-Men were fielded to stop a particularly powerful Mutant and his 'gang'. The 'intelligence' received on this Mutant and his cohorts was sketchy and actually turned out to be a set-up to entrap the X-Men and take them captive. In the ensuing melee', 'things' happened and a number of the team were killed outright or severely injured. After making sure his remaining team-mates were going to be okay, Logan left. Xavier has not, to current time, explained his absence or even whether or not he survived.Current Time/Game Time: Almost seven years later, as Human/Mutant incidents are on the rise, Xavier once again sees a need for a Mutant 'police force'. He sees this new X-Men team as a force for good and a way to help peacefully integrate the rapidly emerging Mutant society with the established Human society. To this end, he has contacted Logan and asked him to 'come home' and train his 'new' team.
Logan has reluctantly agreed. Can shadows from their past be put aside for the good of the new X-Men? How will the surviving members of the original team react and what will they do as 'truths' are learned about that disastrous night?Note: We want the new X-Men to include younger versions of the old familiar characters such as Scott, Jean, Beast etc...as well as many of the OCC’s and other Canon characters that are available. Please ask the Staff BEFORE stating or establishing that your character was one of the old, now disbanded, original X-Men.
