As the name indicates...this RPG will revolve around Crossroads and New Beginnings.CrossroadsWe would like to see characters come to a 'crossroads' in their lives where important and life changing decisions have to be made. These events can be very personal...i.e. a relationship beginning, ending or changing, or they can be moral or spiritual. Whatever is decided, they should show 'growth' for your character.New BeginningsThis can be any number of items as well and most likely will relate back to the 'crossroads' in your character(s)' life or lives and/or career. They may be starting a new career as teacher or student at Xavier's School for the Gifted or may have been selected to train for the upcoming X-Men team(s). Their 'new beginning' once again may be as simple as establishing a new relationship or changes in an old one.

0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Gambit With: No one, except maybe Cyke, if he's already there? When: 0700 Hours, Sunday, May 14th, 2006 Where: Mansion to Jonah’s Whale
Red-on-black eyes were forced open. A tired, still asleep body was forced up and out of the nice warmness of its bed, grumbling and groaning heard all the way to the ensuite bathroom in his apartment. Those groans stopped as the heat of the shower washed over him, but they continued over once he’d finished, stepped out, gotten dressed, and was now moving towards the doorway.
What kind of time was this to be getting up on a Sunday morning, for crying out loud?! It was insane, yet, and he looked at his watch at that point, 6:51 AM, was close to the time one Scott Summers had wanted him and a few others to meet him over at the Jonah’s Whale, to inspect the machine or something. He really didn’t understand why he’d been asked to help… but then, he did know a few things about computers, machinery in general, so, yeah, that knowledge would probably come in handy.
Shaking off the heaviness of a still very tired brain, Remy Etienne LeBeau headed through the hallways, down the stairs, stopping via the kitchen to make himself some toast, and a very hot, very strong, cup of coffee, his booted feet now reluctantly taking him out the back door, and over towards the basketball court, where the machine from the previous day’s mission had been parked by the Wolverine.
Staring at it for several seconds, munching on a piece of toast, the Cajun said, “I be forc’d outta mah comf'rt'ble, warm bed t’ be lookin’ o’er yo’, yo’ heapo’ junk,” he definitely wasn’t happy, and the fact the machine actually was by far not a piece of junk didn’t matter to the Cajun right now.
It was a Sunday morning… he should have still been curled up in a nice warm bed… not shivering slightly in front of ship that looked like something out of a Sci-Fi movie.
Summary: At Cyclops’ request, Gambit is up, and waiting at the Jonah’s Whale at the time specified, albeit reluctantly.

Who: Sage With: No one then Gambit When: 0700 Hours, Sunday, May 14th, 2006 Where: Carriage house to Jonah’s Whale OOC: Yes, the cyberpath is now in the game. *smiles*
Sage's blue eyes opened exactly thirty seconds before the soft bleeping of her alarm penetrated the stillness of her bedroom. She rose smoothly from the bed, a little weary perhaps from the night before, but nothing a cup of coffee and a morning spent investigating a new toy wouldn't solve. She washed quickly and dressed in her standard uniform, fingers deftly weaving her hair into a chic plait that she wore pinned to her head, locks of hair falling around her face.
All set for the day, she made her way down stairs, preparing her obligatory cup of coffee, thankful for the wonders of a self timer. She picked at an assortment of fruit and sipped down the last of the coffee before making her way out into the fresh morning air.
The mansion was calm after the events of yesterday, so many new arrivals and the return of one of the missions. She had watched each one carefully, noting what she could form the information available; hopefully she would be able to gain more knowledge today with which to update her records.
Stepping onto the concrete she made her way around to the front of 'the Whale', arriving at exactly seven o' clock to the sight of a bleary eyed Cajun. "Remy" she greeted him with a restrained nod and proceeded to focus her attention on the vessel in front of them. Tags: Gambit, new arrivals.

The hatch whispered open, revealing Cyclops framed in the doorway. One of those annoying morning people, he'd been up for hours, his hair still damp from the shower after his morning jog.
"Thank you for coming," he said with a smile. "Sorry to make it so early, but I'd like to get this off the front lawn as soon as possible -- but not take a possible trojan horse any further inside our defenses.
"Sage, you have phenomenal expertise with computer systems, but this might be a challenge even for you. I suspect you'll be finding two of them here, and at least one of them could be ... extraterrestrial. At least, the ship seemed to be ... arguing with itself at one point.
"Gambit, maybe I'm being overly suspicious, but Magneto let us get our hands on this ship far too easily for my peace of mind. Your gift for finding traps and hidden things saved our lives at least once aboard the Olympia, if there are any unpleasant surprises on the Whale, I'm hoping you can do it again.

Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Evo With: Sage, Gambit, Cyclops When: 0700 Hours, Sunday, May 14th, 2006 Where: Jonah's Whale
Evo arrived right as Cyclops was finishing his speech to Gambit, and nodded to the three already there. "Okay, Cyclops. What did you want me to do?" he asked, curious. "And did you need a human form, or something else?" Clearly, while Evo was tired, he was also eager to help, and willing to use his power more if needed to get the job done.
Not that Evo hadn't considered possibilities, though he wasn't sure what he would end up doing. It all depended on what Cyclops wanted him to do, and what his power could do to get him through the job and the ship. Once he knew what Cyclops wanted, he could probably come up with a form to help him do it if one of his usual forms wouldn't do it.
Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Gambit With: Sage, Evo, Cyclops When: Morning Where: Jonah’s Whale OOC: Apologies for taking so long… been super busy this week. *Sigh* Plus, I thought there were others that had to post to this thread… *shrugs* Oh well. "Remy" she greeted him with a restrained nod and proceeded to focus her attention on the vessel in front of them. Sage’s greeting was met with a weary-eyed, yet a definite approving glance, “Sage,” was all he said back, giving her the same one word greeting she had given him. This place held so many beautiful women he would have been a complete and utter fool to ever leave it! He couldn’t believe how many good looking girls he had come across in this place, and Sage was definitely not an exception. If anything, she was up there in his list of the Top Five Most Gorgeous Girls At Xavier’s.
Quote:"Gambit, maybe I'm being overly suspicious, but Magneto let us get our hands on this ship far too easily for my peace of mind. Your gift for finding traps and hidden things saved our lives at least once aboard the Olympia, if there are any unpleasant surprises on the Whale, I'm hoping you can do it again.
Gambit’s attention was reverted when Cyclops began to speak, his brain trying to get around the fact the guy was already there, and already inside the Whale, which meant… what time had he gotten out of bed?! The Cajun didn’t really want to think about it. He was tired enough as it was getting up when he did, let alone trying to figure out what time Scott would have had to get up to arrive long before them.
He felt a sudden sense of pride at the man’s words, never actually ever looking at skills learnt during his life as a thief as ever being more than something wrong in the eyes of most, yet, here Scott was, telling him that they would be invaluable during this inspection, so, saying no more, Remy nodded, heading past the man into the ship, preparing himself for the search and discover that lay ahead.
Summary: Gambit likes what he sees in Sage, is a little shocked Scott is already at the Whale, and is downright honoured that his skills are seen as invaluable for this inspection, heading on inside to begin said searching.

I've also thought of a few things for Gambit to discover, but could use some more guidance. I need to pass on right for player knowledge only that nothing they discover will be a threat to them, so to keep some dramatic edge to this I'll have what is discovered take the form of a mystery, unless someone has another option they want to run by me.

Pondering the sight in front of her, she walked closer to the Whale, raising a hand to touch it when it suddenly turned shade, replicating the lawn behind it.
The cyber path took another step forwards and rested a hand on the side of the machine, attempting to work out what material it was. She looked up and stepped back again, turning to face the others. Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale Inspection
I have passed on all relevant information on how the control systems and computers operate on the Whale to Sage's player, so she will be responding to any queries on those systems (but feel free to ask).
For those who are new or have forgotten, the link to the Whale's layout is here
The known technological capabilities for the Jonah's Whale (feel free to rename it if you want to, by the way!) is here. Evo would probably be most familiar with these techologies, given the amount of time he's spent studying them.
The team had to work through a number of tutorials to learn the ship's systems. They are described here, and what they have learned from that is here. Scott and Evo would be the subject matter experts for controlling the Whale, Evo is the local expert on the various technologies, having really grinded his way through the tutorials. In response to Sage's question he could answer her the hull is made up of self-restructuring nanoparticles. Chamber is pretty handy with the Transpads and can even repair them, and Kurt has learned how to use most of the ship's auxilories and even flow the grav truck - TWICE!! - the second time in this thread (includes picture of said truck). Finally, Wolverine has trompped his way all over the interior of the ship, and knows pretty much every part of its layout and what is in there. Edited by: Paid by the Word at: 6/22/06 8:00 am

Scott nodded. "Good idea. It certainly can't hurt."
"Or someone pressed a button" Sage added a touch wryly as she turned back to face the craft in front of them.
"Shouldn't be anybody in there to push buttons," Scott said, looking disturbed. He studied the camoflauge again. "At least it will help hide it from the helicopters filming the commotion over at Treefalls." Maybe that was why it had happened, he thought.
"Well," he said briskly, "let's find out." And, with that, he headed back into the ship.

He programmed the sensors to monitor each mutant onboard separately even while he checked to see if there was anything more in the way of tutorials that he hadn't seen that might tell them something they were interesed in currently.

Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Gambit With: No one inside just yet. When: 0700 Hours, Sunday, May 14th, 2006 Where: Jonah’s Whale
The Cajun was already inside the alien transport, his keen eyes roaming over the walls, floor, and ceiling as he stepped through the airlock into what looked to be a lounge, red-on-black eyes still searching for any dangers. Heading down the stairs, he chose the first door he saw, noting that it looked to be some sought of office. Inside, the man began to go through the drawers, fully realising that if there were any traps, he’d be the first to set them off, hence the first to get himself hurt.
Pulling open a drawer, he flicked through the papers within eyes opening a little wider at the sight of something written, and signed, in Magneto’s own hand, pulling it out and reading over it. “Press r’lease? Nucl’ar weap’ns?” he asked himself, shaking his head a little, before sliding the bit of paper into one of his trench coat pockets…. Didn’t really interest him as such, but others here at the mansion would definitely like to see it.
He moved on through the office, finding himself in, “It be anoth’r office,” he simply stated, although this one was a lot bigger. Again, his search continued, checking everything and anything for any kind of trap, or maybe another bit of information so carelessly left behind…
Partly gloved hands pulled open the bottom drawer of a filing cabinet against the wall, expecting to find that it too was empty, however… was that the corner of a piece of paper, or cardboard? Gambit’s hand moved to grasp it by the edge, pulling gently, but to no avail, instead, reaching his hand up to move along the bottom of the cabinet above, his hand brushing over something that shouldn’t be present in a completely void of anything else filing cabinet. Pulling the rather slim file away from where it was stuck to the metal, Remy proceeded to open and read it.
“What de ‘eck dis be?” he asked himself, the list of names, and jotted down details beside them making no sense to him, the title of the file simply reading as “Red Pill”:
Allans, Paul - Dead
Franken, Richard Perl - Defense Research Institute
Ghebremin, Allippe - Stroke, resident at Augsburg Nursing Facility, Macon Cty, GA
Gost, Kurt - Defense Research Institure
Karas, Mark Jacobs - Missing
Orts, Alexandra - Dead, Suspicious car crash
Petruga, Tim - Advanced Research Projects Administration (classified)
Seery, Richard - Missing, presumed drowned
Xavier, Charles - Retired
Summary: Gambit’s search begins, and some very interesting documents are found… documents that make no sense at all to the Cajun.
Tags: No one, directly. Gambit will merely continue his search, but anyone is free to ask him what he has found so far, of course. LOL.

One minor nit - the stairs go down. There are two floors at the bow of the craft, and three around the midsection. Its ranch style split level flying saucer.

Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Scott With: Gambit, Sage, Evo. When: 0700 Hours, Sunday, May 14th, 2006 Where: Jonah’s Whale
Having already gotten a feel for the physical layout of the Whale in his earlier search, Scott made his way back down to the launch bays. There were a couple of things he wanted to confirm before he headed back up to the control center to pursue the answers to more questions there.
He'd started to fit a few pieces into the puzzle of the ship and he wasn't sure he liked the picture that was taking shape. The Whale was light on labs and heavy on weapons and maneuverability. Put those together with the extensive living quarters, that added up to long-range military scout craft. Put that together with a possible extraterrestrial origin and the implications were ominous.
On the other hand, it was also possible it was simply a case of Magneto having done some major retrofitting. OOC: Scott's going to have a look at the launch systems and remaining missiles to see if they seem to belong there and together.
PS: I'm having some trouble finding the Whale floorplans. Or maybe it's just seeing the floorplans, since I've found (in two places) the written descriptions just fine, but not the pictures of the general schematics or the maps of each level.
Admin Edit: Try the link in my last Gambit post... blue prints, underlined and in bold.
OOC: Aha. Apparently it was just my browser. Can see them fine from this machine.

Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Sage
With: Evo, Cyclops and Gambit
Where: Jonah's Whale
When: Sunday, May 14th, 2006 Evo leaned over as he passed Sage on his way in. "Self reconstructing nanoparticles. Ship's loads of fun."
"Fascinating" Sage said softly, as she ran her hand over the surface of the 'Whale'. She crouched down, and spent a few moments inspecting the exterior material. Sage reached into the pocket of her coat and pulled out her red-lensed 'cyber glasses' slipping them on smoothly to get a more thorough diagnostic of the material. Feeling satisfied, she rose smoothly from her crouch to walk the whole way around the ship, checking for any external wiring or indications of the computer systems.
Finding nothing of relevance for the moment, she made her way a board the craft, following the lay out untill she found the flying bridge. Finding the primary interface, she was surprised to discover that it was very similar to normal flight controls. She frowned lightly, a small crease forming between her eyebrows as she studied the area around the controls. Calling up a holographic projection of the lay out of the bridge using her glasses, she studided until she found the control room. That was where she needed to be, she ascertained, making her way directly there. OOC: Bit of a back post, sorry about that, I'll post a more recent on soon. Just PM me or something if any edits are needed.
I got a bit confused about whether the control room was in the flying bridge or not, if someone could just point me in the right direction on that one. Pretty please. Edited by: x Sage x at: 6/29/06 2:55 pm

0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Jean With: Warren, Logan, Jonathan, Pyro, Ororo, Scott When: 0800 Hours, Sunday, May 14th, 2006 Where: Kitchen, then Jonah’s Whale
Jean’s inquiry as to the health of Warren’s family and outcome of his father’s ‘attack’, went unanswered as Jonathan solicited volunteers to help him exercise his horses.
"Anyone here know how to ride?"
Warren had bowed out, citing a need to investigate the students’ possible involvement with the disturbance which had caused Greymalkin Lane to be blockaded. With a request that Pyro meet him in his office he took his leave.
Turning to Jean, Warren added with a grin, "Have a good day, kiddo. Maybe catch up with you for tennis or a swim later...okay?"
“Sure, Warren. I’m not certain exactly what is expected of me at the Whale, but I hope I’ll be free later this afternoon.” With a nod to Warren and a smile at Pyro Jean turned back toward her abandoned breakfast in time to catch Jonathan’s inquiring glance. “Sorry, Jonathan. I’m told that I am expected at the Whale and am already late. Though I’d love to join you for a ride, I’d better get a move on,” she said, sending a saucy wink Logan’s way as she moved past the two men.
Gathering her plate, Jean took a moment to straighten the kitchen, quickly sorting the items that could be composted and recycled and loading the dishwasher. By the time she had finished, she was alone in the kitchen. As she washed her hands Ororo arrived with a bright smile and cheery greeting as she fixed her herbal tea and grapefruit.
“Good morning, sister…at least what is left of it.”
Jean smiled in return, genuinely happy to see her heart-sister. “Good morning, ‘Ro. I hate to run and leave you alone at breakfast, but I’m already going to be in hot water, I’m afraid. Can I catch you later?”
Taking her leave with a soft, “See you later,” Storm headed for the solarium.
With a nod at the relatively clean kitchen, Jean slipped out the door and made her way quickly to the Whale. Opening her shields just enough to sense the locations of the team investigating the craft, she located Scott in the launch bays. Entering the Whale, she cautiously made her way down to meet him. “Scott? Logan mentioned that you expected me to join you this morning. I didn’t receive any notice, though, so you’ll have to excuse my late arrival. Now, what do you want me to do?” Tags: Scott

Scott extracted himself from where he'd managed to wedge his lean frame in between two missiles, apparently studying the racks they rested in. As always, the sight of Jean brought a smile.
"Sorry about that. I didn't see you around yesterday evening, so I thought you'd gone to get some rest and didn't want to disturb you. I'm glad Logan got you the word."
Dusting non-existent dust from his hands, he continued. "There's a possibility this is some sort of extra-terrestrial craft. Or at least was initially -- there seem to be two different styles incorporated. Everything seems to be designed with generally human size and structure in mind -- the doors are a comfortable height and width, the controls are within easy reach, and so on. What will best tell us, though, is the infirmary -- and that's your specialty." He laughed ruefully. "It could be a vet's office, for all I would be able to see."

Jean returned Scott’s smile as he dislodged himself from between missiles and explained why she had not actually received an invitation to join the investigating team. Tilting her head to the side, she considered the launch bay and listened as he continued.
"There's a possibility this is some sort of extra-terrestrial craft. Or at least was initially -- there seem to be two different styles incorporated. What will best tell us, though, is the infirmary -- and that's your specialty." He laughed ruefully. "It could be a vet's office, for all I would be able to see."
Nodding as she paid close attention to the younger man, Jean again scanned the area. “The overall layout and structure could give me a good start on what I need to concentrate on when I get to the infirmary. I would like to look around the entire ship before I sequester myself in there. If that is okay, would you care to show me around or are you stuck here all morning?” Tags: Scott

"That's fine!" Scott said, then kicked himself inwardly for sounding like an overeager high school kid. "I'd love to show you around," he added, hoping he sounded just a smidgen more mature.
"She literally is a flying saucer," he explained, leading the way from the port launch tubes chamber back out into the central open area. The rear half where we are here is largely dedicated to the engines and the bulk of the missile launch areas. The front half is divided into three levels, with access via a central elevator. The front half of this level," he motioned in that direction, "seems to be storage and work area -- there's are cargo bays, a lab, a workroom, and so forth, plus the infirmary. The two levels above us are mostly living areas, along with the ship's control systems."
Scott tilted his head up as he spoke, ruby-colored glasses glinting in the light. "I think she's been retrofitted. Except for the control panels in here, I could think I was standing in a boomer. Ah ... a missile submarine. And see the joins where the walls meet the floor and ceiling? They're square, 45 degrees." He brought his hand down in a chopping motion, then cut it directly sideways. "Other sections, like the control room, are rounded." The hand made a curving gesture in illustration. "Some are a mix of both." OOC: I hope I got all that right. PbtW?

Once the team was trained and fielded on active missions, they took on the additional responsibility of teaching and helping new Mutants deal with their powers. On one horrible night, the X-Men were fielded to stop a particularly powerful Mutant and his 'gang'. The 'intelligence' received on this Mutant and his cohorts was sketchy and actually turned out to be a set-up to entrap the X-Men and take them captive.
