As the name indicates...this RPG will revolve around Crossroads and New Beginnings.CrossroadsWe would like to see characters come to a 'crossroads' in their lives where important and life changing decisions have to be made. These events can be very personal...i.e. a relationship beginning, ending or changing, or they can be moral or spiritual. Whatever is decided, they should show 'growth' for your character.New BeginningsThis can be any number of items as well and most likely will relate back to the 'crossroads' in your character(s)' life or lives and/or career. They may be starting a new career as teacher or student at Xavier's School for the Gifted or may have been selected to train for the upcoming X-Men team(s). Their 'new beginning' once again may be as simple as establishing a new relationship or changes in an old one.

Who: Jean With: Scott When: Early Sunday Morning, May 14th, 2006 Where: Jonah’s Whale "That's fine!" Scott said, then kicked himself inwardly for sounding like an overeager high school kid. "I'd love to show you around," he added, hoping he sounded just a smidgen more mature.
Jean smiles at Scott’s eager response. She could understand his excitement and curiosity about the ship, especially if it were truly based on extra-terrestrial technology. To be honest, she thought to herself, her own curiosity was peaked. Still paying close attention to the younger man’s explanation, she followed him back out into the central open area, impressed with how much he already knew of the ship and enjoying the informal and ethusiastic tour.
Scott tilted his head up as he spoke, ruby-colored glasses glinting in the light. "I think she's been retrofitted. Except for the control panels in here, I could think I was standing in a boomer. Ah ... a missile submarine. And see the joins where the walls meet the floor and ceiling? They're square, 45 degrees." He brought his hand down in a chopping motion, then cut it directly sideways. "Other sections, like the control room, are rounded." The hand made a curving gesture in illustration. "Some are a mix of both."
Nodding, Jean hid a smile, not wanting to steal Scott’s thunder by informing him that she had long been aware of what a ‘boomer’ was. Instead, she puzzled for a moment on whether the wall to floor joins he was describing were the ninety-degree right angles one expected in a square or if they were truly forty-five degree angles which would waste significant space if the ship were constructed or retrofitted for upright, bipedal occupants. “I can actually deduce quite a lot from the ergonomics of the controls. Could we start at the top?” she began, pointing upward as she continued, “That way I can work my way back down to this level and end up in the infirmary.” Tags:Scott Summary:Jean asks Scott, her guide, to give her a top-down tour of the Whale so she can get a clear picture of the physiology of its original builders.
Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Pyro & Gambit With: Sage, Cyclops, Jean, in other places on the ship. When: Early Morning, about 7:30 AM by now… Where: Jonah’s Whale
Her sleeping face had not only made him fall in love with her more and more, but it had also left him with the feeling that he needed to let her sleep on, rather than wake her up simply by trying to hug her. He hated it when someone woke him up from a deep sleep, so he wasn’t about to do it to his pregnant wife. Leaving her to her slumber and accompanying dreams, he headed out of their apartment, walking down the hallway, when, once again, his eyes were drawn to one of the circular bay windows, but, instead of seeing the happenings going on outside the mansion grounds, thanks to the meddling of him, Kitty, and Psylocke, he saw Jean entering the Jonah’s Whale, suddenly remembering that was where Remy would be right now.
Opting to go offer his help, not to mention get to talk to his new friend a bit in the process, and also see the inside of something rumoured to be extraterrestrial in origin, Pyro moved off towards a door, with a path beyond that would lead him out to where the ship was parked, the basketball court not in use at the present moment, because of it. By the time he reached the machine, it was obvious everyone else had already moved inside, he himself managing to find his way past the turbo life, and on through sections he of course didn’t recognise.
Thankfully, and by pure luck, a very familiar form came out of an obvious room up ahead, Pyro moving to catch up to the Cajun figure, even as he turned another corner and disappeared from the flame manipulator’s sight. “Hey, Remy,” John called, slowing as he saw a face with distinct red-on-black eyes poke itself back around the turn in the hallway. “Dat be moi,” Gambit answered, raising an eyebrow, “Wha’ yo’ be doin’ ‘ere?”
Shrugging, Pyro said, “Was just curious and a little bored… wanted to see if I could help ya out or something?” he asked, finally catching up to the rather swift moving Southerner.
Looking thoughtful for a couple seconds, Remy nodded, “Yo’ can be helpin’ me look o’er dis ‘ere large machine, Mon’ami. I be so far findin’ sev'ral tings of int’rest. I be sure de Cyclops be wantin’ t’ be lookin’ at dem,” he didn’t move to produce the documents from where he’d placed them in his jacket pockets… it really was none of John’s business, and Pyro knew that too, not attempting to inquire any further of what he was actually talking about.
It was at that point that Remy caught sight of Sage, both his eyebrows raising as he proceeded to change their direction to follow her, and it was obvious what the room she had been heading to was: The Control Room, red-on-black eyes joining with blue in looking around in utter amazement. “Well, dis be int’restin’,” he commented, glancing at the computer savvy mutant, “An’ wha’ be yo’ findin’ so far, Cher?” he asked her.
Summary: John decides to let his beautiful wife sleep some more before he wakes her up with some affection, deciding to go see how Remy’s doing in the Jonah’s Whale… maybe offer his own unique skills to help. Gambit spots Sage and the two of them follow her to the control room.

Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Sage With: Gambit & Pyro When: Early Morning, Sunday, May 14th, 2006 Where: Jonah's Whale
Sage nodded to Remy as he joined her in the Control Room, acknowledging his presence but for the moment saying nothing. Wide blue eyes surveyed the room in front of her, her full lips slightly parted in astonishment. Sage's pale features rarely showed much emotion least of all amazement but now it showed clearly on her face as she moved towards what appeared to be the control centre.
“Well, dis be int’restin’,” he commented, glancing at the computer savvy mutant, “An’ wha’ be yo’ findin’ so far, Cher?” he asked her.
She half turned back to face Gambit as he spoke. "I discovered an unremarkable primary interface in the flying bridge, very similar to a normal aircraft. Nothing of interest." she explained as she carried on to the control island, beginning to inspect it. A small smile curved her lips as she walked around the whole island "But this...this is something I've never seen before" she said softly.
"It seems that the basis is some sort of 'alien technology', though whether it is truly extraterrestrial I can't yet ascertain. There has been extra elements added...almost grafted on top which seem to have taken into account human ergonomics." she was half talking to herself, half to Remy, her computer like mind recording everything seen, heard and said. At the same time, possible scenarios and explanations ran through her head, each branching off or ending as she assessed their possibility.
The cyberpath glanced back at the red eyed Cajun as she took a few steps back, surveying the whole of the room again. "I'm judging from the fact that you have joined me that you have found something of interest yourself" she commented wryly, her voice light. Tags: Gambit

"Could we start at the top?” Jean began, pointing upward as she continued, “That way I can work my way back down to this level and end up in the infirmary.”
Scott nodded. "Of course. The lift goes all the way to the upper disk. It's all right angles. Uhm, the upper disk is, I mean." ~She knows that,~ a little voice in his head reminded him, that's where the transpad is.
"It really is quite amazing," he said, leading the way toward the elevator. "The lift, I mean. It goes at an angle along the upper stretch." He looked back over his shoulder at Jean. "What sorts of things do you need to see? Chairs and such?"
Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Jean With: Scott When: Early Sunday Morning, May 14th, 2006 Where: Jonah’s Whale
Walking along beside Scott as they made their way to the elevator and on to the control room, Jean considered his question.
"What sorts of things do you need to see? Chairs and such?"
A slight nod signaled the end of her deliberations and she looked around upon entering the control room. “Yes, the chairs, but more important will be the layout of the controls on the workstation themselves, the distances separating the components. Of course, what I can deduce assumes that the builders were cognizant of biomechanics and adapted the design to the users’ sizes, shapes, physical strengths, and limitations,” she said halting as something familiar caught her attention.
Jean looked carefully at the deck and then scowling, knelt to draw her fingertips over a large, rust-colored stain. Bringing her fingers to her nose, she sniffed lightly. Instantly recognizing the scent, her head jerked up and her eyes fixed on Scott’s face. “There’s an awful lot of blood here.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, her mind replayed another scene… the remnants of blood-stained clothing discarded on the floor of Logan’s bedroom. Rising gracefully, she turned to face Scott, her gaze seeming to penetrate the ruby crystal of the lenses covering his eyes as if she were determined to pull answers from the depths of his brain. “Scott… what happened after I pulled my stupid gaffe and was removed from the scene? Somebody was very badly wounded here. Was the Professor notified? Gambit and the others returned before the Whale landed and no casualties were reported to me…”
She paused to take a breath, tendrils of her hair beginning to rise and float around her face as if they had a life of their own. Memories of the bitter disappointment she had sensed clouding Logan’s dreams fell into place like pieces of a disturbing puzzle. Eyes narrowing she moved a step closer to Scott and pointed to the deck. “WHAT happened here?” Tags: Scott Summary: Jean discovers the massive blood-stain on the control center deck and asks Scott for an explanation.
Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale Inspection
//Point of clarification: the blood stain from Gyrich's confrontation with Wolverine is on the flying bridge, where the secondary controls are. Those controls are all conventional earth-based systems - it looks like a normal ship's bridge, with some added controls for air and submersible operations. The control room is the cerebro style room within the ship's hull and has the whacky scifi type stuff, and the controls there are all on the center island, accessed through computerized workstations. The workstations are normal, but the stuff they plug into definately isn't. Assume the tour started on the flying bridge//

Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale Inspection
Evo frowned carefully as he looked over the power system. Ship' power was at 99 percent and slowly increasing. The information he found said it actually drew power from the Earth's magnetic field. With that in mind, he performed a diagnostic on the ship's systems. The moment the results came in, he frowned. "This is bad," he commented, not noticing that he was ending over the communications systems to the others. "According to the diagnostics, the passive cloak over the flying bridge has failed. We're visibe, and there's a satellite coming to take pictures of the area soon." Then, he hit several keys, activating the active cloaking system. "Active cloak is enabled, but the shimmer will be noticeable, unles the weather around here makes it less obvious."

Scott's own eyes clouded at the memory, the image of the big man with the gun and Wolverine so still returning with unnerving clarity. "Logan," he said. "Logan was shot." There has been extra elements added...almost grafted on top which seem to have taken into account human ergonomics.” Honestly, the words going around in the Cajun’s head at this point were something like, ~Huh? Wha’ dis ’ere Cher be talkin’ ’bou’?~ even though he was already well aware, and had seen ample evidence, that the ship was extra terrestrial in origin.
“Extra terrestrial?” Pyro asked, eyes widening a little. Gambit may have heard of that fact, but the flame manipulator certainly hadn’t… or had he, and he just couldn’t remember? John shrugged, now more interested than ever in taking a look around, so, that is exactly what he began to do, blue eyes looking intently at bits and pieces along the walls.
Quote:The Cyberpath glanced back at the red eyed Cajun as she took a few steps back, surveying the whole of the room again. "I'm judging from the fact that you have joined me that you have found something of interest yourself," she commented wryly, her voice light.
Red-on-black eyes looked at her, amused, “Mah dear Sage, I be joinin’ yo’ cos yo’ happen t’ be one o’ de mos’ beautiful femmes in dis ‘ere mansion, an’ defnitly on dis ‘ere ship,” he cheekily told her, unaware that a very attractive red head was also now aboard.
“Bu’, oui, I be findin’ sev’ral pieces o’ int’rest,” he added, hesitating a little as a partly gloved hand reached for the documents concealed in his jacket. Pulling out first the slim file he had found tucked away in one of the office filing cabinets. “I no’ be knowin’ none o’ de names on dat dere lis’, cept de las’ one,” he told her, raising an eyebrow, and waiting to see what her reaction would be.
Summary: Gambit and Pyro react to Sage’s information, the Cajun hesitant to pull out the documents he has found, however, since Sage is part of the Jonah’s Whale team he figures it’s okay to hand them over so she can look at them.

"Always the charmer, Remy" Sage said, her voice sounds almost amused as she hide a slight smile, her expression shifting back to nuetral as Gambit carried on. She reached out and took the file from him scanning the names and responding to Pyro's comment at the same time. "Yes, an 'E.T' possibly. It could be very valuable to us, and give a hint as to what Magneto is up to."
Glancing up at the tall Cajun in front of her, she handed the file back to him, catching his eyes in a serious, direct look. "Perhaps it is best if you don't show this to anyone else, not yet anyway. "Logan," he said. "Logan was shot." He touched his chest, a twinge from the bruise there reminding him his own close encounter with Nemesis. "Three times."
Looking from Scott’s face back to the rust-colored stain, Jean frowned. “Three times. All of this blood came from three bullet wounds?” With a quick check of her mental calculations Jean’s eyes snapped back to Scott. “From the size of this stain, he nearly bled out. Why didn’t his healing factor stop the bleeding? Did everyone just leave him here… bleeding?”
The frown lines between her brows deepened as her thoughts moved from the scope of injuries that would cause the quick-healing Logan to lose that quantity of blood, to the fact that most of the team had arrived back at the mansion before the Whale. As conclusions began to gel in her mind, her face fell and she sadly regarded the young man at her side. “The Team didn’t do very well at all, did they? After I left, did the Professor keep track of everyone, or did he drop the ball, too?” The sadness in her eyes deepened as the final pieces of her little puzzle fell into place.
“I wonder if Logan is going to stick around after this,” she murmured, more to herself than to her companion as a sudden chill slithered up her spine, causing her to move further away from the accusing stain on the deck. Sighing softly, she continued to inspect the Flying Bridge to see if any good might yet come of the whole affair. Remy narrowed his eyes at her, “I no’ be dat stupid, Mon Cher, o’ course I no’ be showin’ it t’ jus’ anyone bu’…”
“Crap!” interrupted the heightened voice of one St. John Allerdyce, blue eyes wide at the sudden extension of the what seemed to be just a part of the wall in front of him, Remy’s head snapping around in time to see the last of it nearly hit Pyro in the chest. Frowning, the Southerner walked over, glancing into what was now a drawer, quick to notice several documents nearly placed inside. “I didn’t do it!” John insisted, looking all innocent, which only made Gambit give him an exasperated look, “Yo’ be touchin’ it, oui?”
John nodded.
“Den yo’ be doin’ it,” Remy corrected him.
“But it was just a wall… a very intricately patterned wall, but a wall all the same,” he insisted, “How was I supposed to know…” Remy held up his hand, which made the flame manipulator shut his mouth, an annoyed look coming over his face. Stepping back to allow the Cajun full access to the hidden compartment, he watched as a grey display folder was taken out, along with several other loose bits of information. “I’m just going to assume that wasn’t so easy to find, right?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Remy looked thoughtful, as he flipped through the book, “It be seemin’ as if someone be wantin’ us t’ fin’ dis stuff,” was all he said, eyes scanning the documents within.

Scott was horrified at the thought and looked it. "No!" he said quickly. "No, it wasn't like that. Not exactly." ~Stop stammering,~ he told himself sternly, taking a steadying breath. "The commandos had devices that neutralized powers if they were close enough. We'd taken Nemesis', but he got it back somehow and was right on top of Logan. I should've destroyed it," he muttered, half to himself. "But I just didn't think."
She sadly regarded the young man at her side. “The Team didn’t do very well at all, did they? After I left, did the Professor keep track of everyone, or did he drop the ball, too?” The sadness in her eyes deepened as the final pieces of her little puzzle fell into place.
"No ... no ... the Professor did a wonderful job. So did you." Scott shook his head. "Most of it was my fault. Four years. Training. Tactics." He'd been at the top of his class and when it really mattered, out in the real world, he'd been totally inadequate. "So much I should've seen coming. Should've been ready for."
“I wonder if Logan is going to stick around after this,” she murmured, more to herself than to her companion as a sudden chill slithered up her spine, causing her to move further away from the accusing stain on the deck. Scott's heart shriveled at the pain in her voice. He opened his mouth to say something to ease it, but the only words that came were, "I'm sorry."

(A lot of details here, so I'll just post it directly instead of conveying it via Gambit's player)
Folder 1, labeled: Watch on the Potomac.
Inclusion 1: Draft copy of confidential memo from Leslie Hughs, director of Family League for Responsible Medical Research, to congressional staff for U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY). ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Proposed amendments for United States Code TITLE 42 - THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE CHAPTER 6A - PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE
§ 264 Regulations to Control Communicable Diseases. We need to find a way around Posse Comitatus, we can't wait for health authorities and the usual process. Ideally the President, Vice President, or state governor should have that right. Also need to cover behaviorally based risks such as HIV and potentially dangerous racially advanced genetic enhanced risks (RAGERs) which are potentially dangerous.
In photocopied felt tip pen are the remarks "We can't lock up aids patients. RAGERS - you mean mutants? We'll need to work on the timing for this, be ready to move if something big hits the news cycle. -- MM"
§266 Special Quarantine Powers in Time of War. We want a registry mechanism for anyone suffering a life-long condition that is a potential danger to public health - ala Typhoid Mary. This is essential. Can RAGERs be classified as terrorists? That gets us round the act of war provision.
Photocopied felt tip pen: "OK, but again, exclusion for AIDS or this will never get through."
§267 Quarantine Stations, Grounds, and Anchorages. What is the earliest date of availability for Custodes? Will the three facilities be enough? There is also a need for humane detention of non-violent health risks.
Photocopied felt tip pen: "Oceana platform will be ready 5/15/06 on a provisional basis. All platforms should be fully operational by 7/2/06. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded KBR $385 million to construct U.S. detention centers to support rapid development of new programs"
§268 Quarantine Duties of Consular and Other Officers. This is linked to Posse Comitatus issue.
Inclusion 2: Washington Post article

Headline: Federal Troops to Enforce Bird Flu Quarantine?
The President has announced that in the event of a Bird Flu or similar outbreak, the military may be called upon to ...
...The federal Posse Comitatus Act prohibits the military from being used as police, and stems back from abuses during reconstruction following the American civil war.
The president has remarked that he may ask Congress to amend the law to allow for the use of the U.S. military to enforce regional quarantines. Without the amendment the president has no constitutional authority to deploy military forces within the U.S., although he could get around that with an executive order or presidential decision directive. Such an action, however, would almost certainly trigger an appeal to the Supreme Court. Edited by: Paid by the Word at: 7/26/06 8:09 am
Re: 0700 Hours Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Sage With: Pyro & Gambit WhenEarly Morning, May 14th Where: Jonah's Whale Sage followed Gambit's gaze as Pyro opened the hidden compartment, and followed the Cajun as he removed the files and began reading it.
Quote:“It be seemin’ as if someone be wantin’ us t’ fin’ dis stuff,” was all he said, eyes scanning the documents within.
"It's a possible scenario" the cyberpath murmmered softly as she stood by Gamit's shoulder to read the files, her eyes widening as she recorded the information revealled. "What is this?" she asked, half to herself, half to the men standing next to her. Parts jumped out at her, especialy the mention of mutants. That, linked with the previous sheet mentioning Xavier...I knew this day would come she thought. Did they know about the Mansion, would that be the first target in 'a time of war' as they put it. If Magneto had come into possesion of this, it would be even more dangerous.
It was too many 'ifs', she conceded though, she was creating scenarios but she needed more evidence, more details to draw a likely conclusion. Shaking her head slightly, she looked up at the red and black eyes of the mutant standing next to her. "Gambit, what more were you told about this ship?" she asked, anger clear in her eyes, anger at the plans in this document, anger at not being given more information on the ship, anger that they were always to be hunted. There was always another war.
She wasn't one to let her emotions run away or jump to hasty conclusions, but at the moment their were too many possiblities floowing her mind, she had to focus on a few or go made, despite her computer like brain she was still human and so was weakened by this. It only helped to fuel the fire of her anger. Tags: Gambit OOC: hope the ideas Sage pondered are okay.

Re: Afternoon Jonah's Whale Inspection
Hold in case PlotMaster wants Jean to find something specific on the Medical Computer. Otherwise, delete.
// Plotmaster Edit:
The knowledge base is pretty much human, although there are some parts that lead to "Page Not Found" type errors, almost as if a computerized spider had gone through and either deleted or masked over a specific set of data. With more effort, and perhaps with Sage's or McCoy's help you may be able to recover the missing data.
The knowledge base itself is quite advanced, and reflects a state of knowledge which is perhaps advanced some 50 - 100 years from current understanding. But ... something ... odd, about the genetics. Information on a number of genetic disorders is missing, as well as diseases specific to certain races of humanity, including European and Asiatic, but you think there might also be more to that as well, as if there were a deeper pattern to this.

Re: Afternoon Jonah's Whale InspectionWho: Jean With: Nobody When: 1:45 p.m. May 14th, 2006 Where: Jonah’s Whale – Medical Bay
A quick tour of the Medical Bay had failed to produce any indication that the manufacturers and users of the craft had been anything other than human. All of the equipment appeared to be structured for use by humans or humanoids. Suppressing a sigh, Jean turned to the bay’s computer display and began to work her way though the documents and databases resident on the unit. Thus occupied, time passed unnoted for the red-haired doctor.
Looking up from the display of information running up the screen of the medical computer, Jean arched her back, hearing the “Rice Crispy effect” as each vertebrae of her spine snapped, crackled and popped in turn from lower lumbar all the way up to axis. The stretch having relieved the tension along her spine, the first reports of her empty stomach weighed in with a low rumble that brought a smile to her face and a grateful thought to her mind for the fact that she was alone. “I must have been at this longer than I planned,” she murmured to herself, regretting for the first time her habit of giving herself a day free from the dictates of a watch on Sundays.
With no timepiece in sight, Jean decided that nobody could blame her for taking a break and grabbing a quick bite of lunch. So it was that she made her way back through the unnaturally quiet Whale. Just outside the door to the Medical Bay she paused, uncertain, as the short hairs at the back of her neck rose and a chill fingered its way up her back. Holding her breath for a moment, she listened, but only the beat of her heart sounded in her ears. “Is someone there?” she called softly only to be answered by continued silence. If her pace as she strode toward the exit was a bit more brisk than normal, she chose to attribute it to the hollowness of her stomach and not the almost-whisperings in her mind. Tags: None
Summary: Jean loses track of time while searching through the Medical Computer and has a “walking over your grave” experience as she leaves to find some lunch.
Background: Many, many years ago, Charles Francis Xavier established Xavier's School for the Gifted. Also, seeing other Mutants misusing and abusing their powers, he created the first generation of the X-Men.This original team was trained and lead by an old friend of his...Logan, aka Wolverine. Logan's co-leader was a young woman and student named Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Once the team was trained and fielded on active missions, they took on the additional responsibility of teaching and helping new Mutants deal with their powers. On one horrible night, the X-Men were fielded to stop a particularly powerful Mutant and his 'gang'. The 'intelligence' received on this Mutant and his cohorts was sketchy and actually turned out to be a set-up to entrap the X-Men and take them captive. In the ensuing melee', 'things' happened and a number of the team were killed outright or severely injured. After making sure his remaining team-mates were going to be okay, Logan left. Xavier has not, to current time, explained his absence or even whether or not he survived.Current Time/Game Time: Almost seven years later, as Human/Mutant incidents are on the rise, Xavier once again sees a need for a Mutant 'police force'. He sees this new X-Men team as a force for good and a way to help peacefully integrate the rapidly emerging Mutant society with the established Human society. To this end, he has contacted Logan and asked him to 'come home' and train his 'new' team.
Logan has reluctantly agreed. Can shadows from their past be put aside for the good of the new X-Men? How will the surviving members of the original team react and what will they do as 'truths' are learned about that disastrous night?Note: We want the new X-Men to include younger versions of the old familiar characters such as Scott, Jean, Beast etc...as well as many of the OCC’s and other Canon characters that are available. Please ask the Staff BEFORE stating or establishing that your character was one of the old, now disbanded, original X-Men.
