Re: Breakfast
Who: Vulcan
With: X-23
Where: Mansion, Bathroom
When: Mid-Morning

Before Gabriel even realized it, Karika had rushed up the stairs. He was left with one hand up, and his mouth gapping open, as he had been about to comment on her dress. Instead, he dropped his hand and spoke out loud to himself. "Well that was interesting. She sure is fast."

In a matter of moments, Gabriel recieved another shock from Karika, the sight of her running down the stair on all fours. She actually looked comfortable like that, maybe it was how she was raised? This place was crazier and crazier by the second. It looked like she had some clothes with her as well.

Karika then shoved the clothes, which happened to be a pair of yellow swim shorts, which looked to be not quite as masculine as he would have hoped for, and a black t-shirt with a father reference on it. Gabriel read it, and had to fight back the watering in his eyes. His father had been a handsome man, and he could see it was where he got his looks from. "Thank you Karika."

Gabriel smiled, a bit half-heartedly, and walked into the bathroom. There he stripped down and turned the shower water to scorching.

--20 minutes later--

Gabriel emerged from the bathroom, wearing the clothes Karika had provided. As he had expected, the clothes were definately made for a girl, but he supposed beggers can't be choosers. ~Thank God Gabriel, don't question his glory. Be thankful you have a clean pair of clothes to wear, and got a hot shower. Heck you even found toothpaste to use with your toothbrush.~

Gabriel shook his head, letting water fly off his not-so-short hair. It naturally parted in the middle and hung down to about his chin. Without looking to see if Karika was still around, he simply assumed she would be, he spoke. "So, now that I'm clean, what do you think?"

Re: Breakfast
Who: Karika
With: Gabriel
Where: Hallway to Kitchen
When: Late-Morning

Karika had waited patiently as he shut the door. She could hear the water beating down on him; her hearing was extra-perceptory, she even knew the second he stepped out of the shower. And man, did he take a long time. Karika had never actually showered before (the noise was far too great for her) but she was always well-kempt and bathed. Good genes, perhaps, allowed her hair to remain thick and unfrizzed during regular activity and her body to remain decently scented.

While she waited, Karika played with the hem of her pink dress. It really was a pretty thing with its frilly flowers and white lace on the borders. It wasn't typically something a trained killer would wear...but Karika loved it all the same. Perhaps for the simple reason that it WAS very un-assassin like. Weapon X was all about latex and leather that molded to the body to protect and perserve...perhaps the opposite, a loose-fitting, pink sundress, was the start of a new chapter in her life.

Wonder of wonders, after an eternity...well...twenty minutes had passed, Gabriel came out, bathed and clean. "So, now that I'm clean, what do you think?" Stepping forward she leaned in, sniffing him deeply. This time his scent wasn't masked by odors. He smelled clean and fresh, something that Karika liked. The cleany, soapy scent mixed with the characteristic mint of the toothpaste and mingled with a tangy smell that was only his.

Bobbing up and down, she smiled. "Good." She answered, her face lighting up. "No stink." That was a very large improvement. And he was wearing nice clothes. By Karika's standards he was dressed to the nines. Suddenly she frowned, her stomach was making those strange noises again. With a little breath, she turned to him once more. "Karika, food. Now." She gave the order so there was no arguing with her. "Come, Gabriel now."

Even with a limited vocabulary and a tiny frame, Karika managed to be bossy. It was a strange thing to see for a girl who barely brushed five feet to be giving anyone orders. Then again, those spectors had probably never seen X-23 take down a six foot nine, four hundred pound killer in one blow. Making her way toward the kitchen she stopped to let Gabriel catch up.

It was an improvement for her. Karika was actually making...friends.

Gabriel beamed when Karika said he didn't stink anymore. He was starting to get a feel for her. She obviously hadn't learned to speak English very long ago, and she was blunt and to the point. He liked that in people, he hated it when others tried to dance around the subject or ignore it. She kind of reminded him of how the nuns acted, giving orders all the time to everyone but the priests. Gabriel couldn't help but smile.

When her stomach growled for food, he almost blurted out laughing. Come to think of it, he was a little hungry himself. He had gotten a New York Hot Dog from one of the street vendors before hoping in that cab, and that hadn't sat well with him. It was obviously an acquired taste. "Food sounds like an awesome idea. Uh," He realised then that he didn't have any more money, and this was supposed to be a school. He'd probably have to buy lunch or something, since he didn't have a lunch card, afterall, that was how the nuns told him the other schools were. "I don't have any more money. I can't buy any food."

He looked alittle down about that. It hadn't hit him until just now that he would need money for stuff after he got here. He couldn't afford to go to a school like this, and he was too young to get a job, especially without being in school. This was quite the problem for Gabriel, he had been doing so well so far. He hated to let God down, not to mention the memory of his father and brother, just because of a little set back like money.

Re: Breakfast

Karika had been wary of Gabriel before, but she wasn't anymore. His body language spole volumes about his intent, and he was nothing but smiles and cheer. That, in Karika's opinion, made him completely harmless to her. There was no reason to fear an attack, and so, she could be herself. Then again, she sensed a lot of tension in him. It could be that he was nervous around her because she was different...but Karika knew better than that. Something was niggling at him, deep inside.

"Food sounds like an awesome idea. Uh," "I don't have any more money. I can't buy any food." Raising an eyebrow, she was completely lost. Buy food? Money? Currency of any kind was a novelty to Karika...she had never needed money, she had never use money...hell, she'd only seen money transferred a few times. So for him to suggest they buy food was very strange to her. "No." She said, confused and pulled him to the refrigerator. Opening it up and letting the cool air breathe on her face, she lit up like she had just seen fireworks.

"Chicken!" Karika's very favorite food was sitting on the third shelf, just within her grasp. Unfortunately...it was not cooked. Weapon X hadn't taught her much in the way of hygiene or personal safety...but the animal in her knew she could get sick from the chicken. Folding her arms, she opened a bin and picked up a packet of sliced chicken that they used for lunch meat. Tossing it on the counter she pulled out several pudding cups and some carrots. A well balanced meal!

For Karika that was.

Opening up the packet of lunchmeat, she took all 30 or so slices and took a large bite. Another chunk came out of the deli lunchmeat and then Karika smiled over at Gabriel. She held out the stack of lunchmeat with two large bits in it as if asking him if he would also like a bite.

Gabriel watched as karika proceeded to help herself to a rather large helping of chicken lunch meat. He smiled, "Guess it's free then?" Gabe eyed the other portions of her 'meal', rather unbalanced if he did say so himself. But. if she was up for it, he wouldn't argue.

Before he even realized what was happening, karika had shoved the large stackof lunchmeat, sans two bites, into his face. He supposed she was being polite and offering him some to eat. "Thank you." Gabriel leaned forward enough to reach it, and bit into th stack of meat. Other than being cold, it was good. He could go for a bit of bread, some lettuce, and maybe a tomatoe or two, but beggers can't be choosers. "Ish, goud," he tried to say around a mouthful. If the nuns saw him trying that, they would have taken a meter stick to his backside.

Gabriel chewed the mouthful and then swallowed it. Yup, meat was better without the hair still attached. "So, Karika," no time like the present to start gathering information, "Have you ever heard of Scott Summers? Or maybe Christopher?" The look that entered his eyes when he said the names of the two family members he believed dead, would make the Devil himself cry and repent with sadness.

Re: Breakfast
Who: Karika
With: Gabriel

Karika was happily munching away while Gabriel gabbed on. "Guess it's free then?" "Free!" She repeated, her mouth full of food. Okay, so she wasn't exactly ready for tea with the queen. At least she was using her HANDS today instead of just tearing at it with her teeth. He didn't seem completely outraged or disgusted...at least, from what Karika could smell. And he wasn't being rude either. He accepted her offer to share her food (a rarity for Karika) with a meek, "Thank you."

"Ish, goud," Karika just smiled. She didn't speak Greek very well so she decided not to respond. Her English was bad enough as it was. Setting down the lunchmeat she picked up a baby carrot and munched it down. If he was watching her mouth he could probably notice the inscisors in her mouth were not merely that but fangs. Literal fangs! The razor sharp teeth gnashed into the carrot with ease, sating her hunger. Pushing a few carrots Gabriel's way, she kept on munching. "For you." She added, if he hadn't gotten the memo.

Truth be told, Karika was not a socialite. Okay, maybe that was the understatement of the century. But Gabriel on the other hand...liked to talk. So, Karika obliged him; it was only proper. "So, Karika,", "Have you ever heard of Scott Summers? Or maybe Christopher?" She was positive she had never heard that name before. "Know only Jonathon, Juliana and Boy with Wings!" That was three whole people! Plus the other man who smelled good whose name she remembered as... "Oh! Logan!" She burst out, excited. Yep, FOUR people. "And boss man." Wow, five people. That sure was a lot.

But no Christopher or Scott Summers. "No Scott or Chrissopher." Karika had tried to prounounce Christopher...unfortunately all the consonants in a row were hard. Finally picking up the pudding cup, she went scrounging around for what the school people had taught her was a "spoon". Finally, after several attempts and small growls, she found two. "HERE!" Pulling back the lid of the pudding she dug in and offered him to do the same. "Mmmm..." She made a small noise. "Good!"

Re: Breakfast

The reporter standing at the gate fidgeted for just a moment, adjusting his shirt slightly - it looked newish and unwashed, prone to uncomfortable pinches and scratches. It bought time for the cameraman to change out to a portable videocamera, and with an imperceptable nod of his head, the just-out-of-schoolish looking lad announced to the first man he was ready. Still, the camera remained politely pointing at the ground but ready for a lightning-quick reaction shot.

"Oh hello there," the reporter announced in as friendly a tone as he could manage. "John Nash, FOX news," he said by way of introduction. "I was wondering if you'd care to fill us in on how this concert angel incident has affected people here, how you're holding up and all that sort of stuff. Of course we'll leave if you ask us to, but I thought you'd like to take this opportunity to put your own words to this. Would you care to proceed, sir? And if so, may we record?"

"Uhm," Mason said, half-regretting a pause on the other side of the gate to leave his helmet with his bike, since it meant he had nothing to occupy his hands. They seemed to have grown to twice their size and developed an annoying penchant for fluttering around distractingly. Capturing the living one by the wrist, he put the steel one to work in holding it still. "Well. Mr. Worthington is really the one you should be talking with about that." He tilted his head toward the older man to indicate whom he was referring to. "He's the school spokesman."

Re: 15 Minutes of Fame

Gabriel's heart dropped, and his face showed it. Karika didn't know his father, or his brother. He had come so far, and still he found no clues. It felt like the world was coming to an end all around him. Even here, at the Xavier School, he found no clues, though, he had only talked to one person so far.

Gabriel pulled back the lid on the pudding and began to eat it slowly. It was little consolation. It was good though. He turned the cup over in his hands, butterscotch, good choice. "This is good Karika. Thank you."

And just like that, gabriel realized he'd jumped the gun. "Wait," He put the pudding down. "Boss man? Karika, who's the boss man? Do you think he'd know?" Maybe there was hope. Gabriel finished the cup of pudding, and grabbed another. Yes, he'd find his past, and proove the nuns wrong yet.

OOC: Sorry for taking so long to reply. I had to go down to L.A. for a job interview, and decided to stay a couple days and go to Disneyland...HAHAHA victory is mine!! Also, Karika and I are inside, so I don't think we can talk to the newsguys, unless we end up outside somehow, or they come inside.

OOC: And you did not take me?! I am betrayed! :(

Karika smelled his disappointment. It radiated off him like a perfume; she didn't understand why he felt that way. She also hoped that it wasn't her fault. She had done her best to prepare a nice meal and supply some good...erm...conversation. His words assauged and confused her even more, "This is good Karika. Thank you." If it wasn't her fault...then what happened?

Putting her spoon up to her mouth, she prepared to take a large bite. "Wait," "Bug?" She asked, examining the pudding and finding nothing. Turning her mouth into a little frown, she set her spoon into the cup and stared at him. "Boss man? Karika, who's the boss man? Do you think he'd know?" "Boss man!" She reiterated. He wasn't any but the boss. "Boss man know everything." Of course he did, that's why he was the boss.

Picking up her spoon again, she shoveled the bite into her mouth before he had a chance to speak again. Mmm! She hadn't had this kind before! She'd never even tasted this flavor before...it was delicious. Turning to him, she sighed. "Boss man busy, make appointment."

As Logan entered the kitchen, after leaving Chase at the stables, he saw the young, dark-haired girl that the doc was always with. Well, until this morning anyway.

She was sitting with an unfamiliar young man and Logan simply stopped in step and stared at the two. Instinctively, but discreetly he scented the air, picking up the stranger's and adding it into his mental catalog for future reference.

Arching a brow of disconnected interest, he studied the strange meal they were sharing then grunted to himself and went to the fridge. Opening the door, he scanned the interior; not knowing what it was he was looking for or if he was actually looking for anything. It was more just to give himself something to do to eat up the time until the meeting. Looking at his watch he sighed, seeing he still had twenty minutes to occupy himself until then.

Standing up straight he shut the door and looked over his shoulder at the two at the table. He never gave a thought to the scowl he always presented to others, it was just always there. It was actually a very rare occassion when he wasn't scowling; always giving the impression that he was angry, even when he wasn't, or simply that he had alot on his mind which usually he did.

Forcing air out of his nose he huffed and turned to the water cooler again. He couldn't remember the last time he drank so much water from this damn thing but, for some reason, today it made a great staging area to scope out all the new faces in the mansion.

Taking a paper cup from the dispenser nearby Logan filled the cup slowly and drank from it just as slowly; turning himself around to peer at the two young strangers. His piercing blue eyes were like darts stabbing out at anyone he didn't know or didn't trust, and his dark crazy mane always added to his "crazed and wild" look.

Wolverine didn't say anything; didn't offer a greeting nor did he interrogate the newcomers, he simply watched them, studied them; taking in as much information about their persons as his senses could take.

~Chicken an' butterscotch puddin'... blech..... soap, shampoo overlappin' the streets odor an' the faint scent of cloth that had been in storage for a while ~ Wolverine cocked his head slightly to one side, now slowly sipping on his second cup of chilled water.

He tilted his head toward the older man to indicate whom he was referring to. "He's the school spokesman."
Warren smiled at the younger man and stepped forward, "Mr. Nash, I am legal counsel for the Xavier Institute as well as being on the faculty here. No, you may not record...this is a school and a private one at that...and be very careful if you quote me. The school...other than the disruption caused, first by the proximity of the concert and its volume, now by this commotion practically at our front gate...has not been and will not be affected by this...incident. Our students are safe and continuing their studies. Any further action by the Press or anyone else not affiliated with the institute will be deemed trespassing and an invasion of their privacy and ours. I would rather not seek an injunction against the...pilgrims...or the press, but I will do so should, at any time, I feel that the safety and well-being of any of our students or staff is being compromised. End of comment."

Worthington had kept his voice clear, mild, but authoritative. He had no desire to fuel this incident by wrangling with the Press but also had no qualms about it either. His request for aid in dealing with this incident was yielding results...but very slowly. For the moment, he settled with reviewing the property lines in his mind's eye and turned back, making sure his voice carried clearly, though he did not raise it or shout. Warren was, after all, a trained courtroom attorney.

"The Xavier Institute and Estate property line extends some 500 yards beyond the security gates. We will consider it trespassing if anyone breaches that perimeter." He paused, letting his words sink in, hoping he was making it very clear that this incident would NOT involve or touch the school in any way.

It wasn't long before Ben arrived in the kitchen and grabbed a few slices of bread and then some coldcuts and mustard from the fridge.

Logan stood in his spot near the cooler; one hand on his hip the other holding his empty paper cup, when the door opened and a more familiar face appeared. He watched silently as the boy walked straight to the refrigerator and started pulling things out. Wolverine continued to watch, as if he were an invisible observer, as the kid deposited the items on the counter before turning to the cupboard to get a glass.

He then grabbed a glass and headed for the water cooler. Ben tried to make sure he didn't bump into the dark-haired man standing by the cooler as he poured himself a glass of water.

Logan watched the kid come closer. Dropping his hand from his hip, he watched as the new kid tried to access the cooler without disturbing him. Logan simply took one step to the side to give him room, but continued to watch with absolute focus, as if studying him. He was, of course. That's one of the things that Wolverine was known for; watching, scenting, studying, learning what you were all about even before ever making contact.

"Nice day, today, isn't it?" [Ben] asked as he set his glass down on the table and went for his sandwiches.

Logan glanced around, then arched one eyebrow high, wondering if the kid had directed the question at him. He didn't notice the wild girl or the street kid pay him any mind so he considered what to say, briefly, as his eyes trailed the kid as he moved about.

"What makes ya' say that?" he grumbled out. He wasn't saying it wasn't a nice day, Logan was just curious as to why he thought it was a nice day. Sometimes Wolverine needed a reminder.

Re: 15 Minutes of Fame

The reporter and cameraman stood unpreturbed, and, as requested, the camera remained pointed at the ground. A brush-off was part and parcel of their profession, and they were well schooled in how to deal with it.

"Well yes, of course Mister " - at this the reporter cast his eyes very briefly at his notebook - "Worthington, you do have the absolute right not to comment on this event. But you also have to keep in mind, sir, that the angel mentioned this school, this very school, and that makes you part of the news cycle whether you like it or not. I'm sorry, but that's just the way things happen."

"We have a responsibility to our viewers to report what we can of this event, and that means that the news hole regarding the Xavier Institute will have to be filled one way or the other. It would make our lives much easier if we did't have to talk to people in town about this place, and there'd be no way of knowing what they'd say or the veracity thereof - so we'd still have to get in touch with you a second time just to confirm or deny our findings, assuming such is possible before deadline. As legal counsel for the Xavier Institute, don't you think you have the responsibility to help manage and shape the public perception of your place of employment, Mr. Worthington?"

The cameraman turned and in a low side comment to the reporter, he asked "How about that pizza parlor? We could do a two-fer and get lunch at the same time."

Gabriel smirked a bit when Karika mentioned making an appointment. He'd do just that. The day was looking better, maybe this trip wasn't a loss after all. Reaching down, he grabbed the cup of pudding he had started, and began to finish it.

Just as Gabriel was getting ready to ask Karika how to get an appointment made with this 'boss man' a stocky dark fellow with spikey hair and mutton chops that would have put the orphange preacher to shame entered the room. He migrated to the cooler after sniffing the air for some reason, and proceeded to drink water.

The way this man carried himself reminded Gabriel of a predator stalking it's prey, waying the options and studying the poor creature. The worst part was, Gabriel felt like he was the prey in this little senario. But it didn't put him off, he had learned, thanks to the way the nuns had judged him, not to pre-judge people, so he refused to do so now.

Just as Gabriel was about to greet the man, another person entered the kitchen and began to have a small conversation with the first man. They talked about the day, the weather, and why the second man felt the way he did about it. The first guy appeared to not be that interested, and a bit ticked that he had been disturbed.

Rising to his feet, Gabriel turned to the two and stepped forward. "Sorry to interupt. My name's Gabriel." He held out his hand for either of them to shake. "Gabriel Summers. I was wondering if either of you could help me out."

With: The Reporters, Mason, and Warren
When: Late Morning
Where: The Front Gate

Cecilia just narrowed her eyes at the reporters. She was in no mood for this. She really wanted to yell at them, but she didn't. She was a professional, a woman of buisness. Her mother had raised her better then to yell at someone who came uninvited. Cecilia just let her eyes focus on the reporters and she said nothing. Inwardly, she used rapid fire Puerto-Rican dialect Spanish to describe the two gentlemen. She didn't dare to speak it though, many people had Spanish as a second langauge and Cecilia knew very many people who spoke it as a first language. She did not want to make a fool of herself or of her community.

Cecilia raised her eyebrow slightly and waited to see how Warren would react to any comment. She didn't know the town surrounding the mansion well enough to know the response they would give. She just hoped that the Xavier Institute had a good rapaport with the public. On the off chance it didn't, well Cecilia didn't want to go there quite yet. She unconcously grabbed the Crucifix around her neck. Silently she began to mouth the words to the Hail Mary. She recited in Latin, as she had learned it from her mother. "Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum..." Cecilia whispered. She hoped this would end soon.

Re: 15 Minutes of Fame
Who: Nightcrawler

A chiming noise broke into the tension as Kurt's watch iterated a sequence of Zzzzz Zzzzz Zzzzz's, prompting the hologramed youth to glance at his wrist.

"Oh, a meeting! Well, nice listening to you ... I guess ..." he said with a puzzled frown taking his face. As he spun around to leave, it quickly turned into a startlement and uttered "YaaaWas?! Kein Tor! Kein Tor!" which cascaded into a soft thud as his foot caught an exposed sprinkler head, propelling him groundward. Its mechanism must have picked up a bit of gravel from the roadbed, keeping it from mating back into its undersod housing mechanism.

After another muttered exclaimation and slightly frustrated bounce of one fist on the ground before him, he gathered his wits and with an effaced "excuse me", stood up. "Bye bye", he hurridly waved, the fingers of one hand wriggling as the attached wrist rested sideways on top of the other, his attention diverted as he ran for the mansion. He scarcely noticed the still slight shimmering effect of the cloaked ship parked nearby on the basketball court.

Summary: Kurt leaves after taking a slightly comedic pratfall (filling space).

Re: Late Morning
Who: Psyche
With: No one really
When: Sunday, May 14th 2006
Where:Mansion

Psyche arrived at the patio. Again. She had managed to get herself slightly lost, not an easy feat at all as she usually had an excellent sense of direction and could find her bearings easily. This Mansion seemed to confuse her greatly for reasons she couldn't quite fathom.

Letting out a quiet sigh, she crossed the patio, and entered the patio, her eyes cutting across the room, tension entering her body once again as her gaze settled on the dark haired man standing by the water cooler he was talking to a younger man she didn't recognise. She studied them for a moment, golden eyes wary but calm. She wasn't scared of him, but he got her back up, made her want to attack something, so it was probably a good idea to leave the room pretty quickly. Perhaps go and find this Danger Room she had heard people mention.

Crossing the floor of the kitchen quickly she made her way out into the hallway and deeper into the Mansion, stopping only when a TV set caught her attention. Two bold white words on tracking slowly across a thick red strip at the bottom of the screen caught her attention. “Mutant Assassin” Eyes wide with horror she immediately connected the picture of the approach to the Mansion with the words underneath. For a moment sheer panic flooded through her, nearly erasing all coherent thought, she was ready to bolt that very second, they had found her and they wanted her back. Her hands curled involuntarily, searching for the weapons that should be at her hips.

It was only in that moment that she realised the two were not connected. Taking a deep breath, she glanced around to see if anyone had seen her reaction, before taking in as much information from the broadcast as she could. Her heat began to beat a little faster, adrenaline entering her blood stream as she turned and made her way quickly up to her room. Ducking under the bed she pulled out her bag of weapons, lifting out two heavy metal hand guns.

For a moment her hand was stilled as she remembered the Professors words about the weapons, she knew this was a step backwards for her but for some reason she couldn’t quite explain, she felt that she had to find this assassin. Besides she had a good idea who it was, and where they might be, if she was proved right, well...she had wanted to catch up with them for a while. It was like meeting an old friend, she convinced herself as she stood up and changed back into her old gear, holstering her weapons and slipping out of her room.
