Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion (Open for All Participants)
Where: Foyer, Office, Kitchen
When: 0700 +
A decidedly cranky Warren Worthington III entered the mansion through the great front doors. Getting in had been paramount to running a gauntlet as he had had to stop numerous times to show the police his school badge and IDs in order to get through the gates. This, on top of making a harried drive home to New York City, fearing to not make it to his father's deathbed in time, only to find the senior Worthington had succombed to a panic attack over the stock fluctuations...and not a heart attack as his mother's frenzied message had indicated.

He strode down the corridor to his office, not far from Charles Xavier's office and apartment suite. Once inside, he dropped his duffel bag and shrugged out of his jacket, then removed his shirt long enough to free his wings from the leather harness that held them immobile beneath his clothing. Dragging the polo shirt back on, he hastily tucked it into his slim fitting jeans as he headed back down the corridor and into the kitchen.

Warren nodded pleasantly to the others in the kitchen before grabbing a cup of coffee and plopping down on a stool at the counter. He shrugged slightly as he leaned forward to snag a copy of the Wall Street Journal from the counter, wincing as the pulled flight muscle protested slightly. Fortunately, Warren had always healed fast and the injury caused from his impact event with the cruise ship was already fading into nothing.

He scanned the front page of the paper, turquoise eyes narrowed at one of the front page articles. With a sigh, he lay the paper down on the counter and sipped his coffee, then turned his attention to the other occupants. "Good morning, Logan, Pyro. Any news about the events at the concert that has every police officer in Salem Center parked on Graymalkin Lane?"

Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion
Who: Jean
With: Logan
Where: Bedroom then Kitchen
When: Sunday morning, breakfast

It was with great reluctance that Jean Grey opened her eyes. Her dreams had been both vivid and intriguing, a rare combination for her and one which had her struggling against the inevitability of wakefulness. The sunlight streaming in through her window, however, could no longer be denied. Muttering at the rudeness of the sun for being in the wrong place for her comfort, she slid from beneath the sheets and padded bare-footed to her bathroom, still undecided on the question of food versus crawling back between the sheets for a nice lazy Sunday morning.

By the time she had brushed her teeth and completed other essential morning tasks, her stomach had convinced her sleepy eyes that it took precedence. Bowing to the promptings of the empty ache in her middle, she quickly pulled on a pair of faded blue denim jeans and a black tank top. “It’s Sunday, might as well be comfortable,” she excused herself as she pulled her hair back from her face, secured it with two combs and headed out the bedroom door without even a second glance in the mirror.

The wonderful scent of breakfast met her before she was in sight of the kitchen and seemed to pull her along by the nose. Though she nodded and smiled in acknowledgement of the others already gathered, her focus was on the offerings spread along the buffet table. “Who cooked this morning?” she sang out, picking up a plate and helping herself to healthy portions of nearly everything on offer without waiting for an answer.

Plate loaded and coffee mug balanced precariously, she looked around for company. Her eyes settled on Logan and, with a warm smile, she moved in his direction. “Are you longing for solitude this morning or may I join you?” she asked, hoping he could tell that she would not be offended should he crave some time to himself.

The smell of brimstone caused Karika to start itching, madly. Rubbing her nose ever-so-unattractively, she tried to force the awful smell out. Ick, whoever smelled like that needed an acid bath and quick! But almost as soon as the smell came, it disappeared again. But all the people didn't...she didn't like being around this many people at once. It made her edgy and angry...and...really, really hungry.

“It’s alright, Karika, this is what families and packs do…we have our meals together when possible. Please continue your breakfast.” She went to nod, but then he picked up strange tools. Like the ones Kitty had showed her in the foyer! Copying him instantly she grabbed the silverware that had been provided for her by Jonathon, or some other person. Although her hands were a bit...greasy, to say the least, and she kept dropping her knife on the table, she was starting to get the hang of it. She was even starting to understand casual conversation!

"I believe, dear heart, if memory serves, the name ‘Karika’ has many other meanings as well. We will try to look it up and see if we can find out what else it means. But ‘soldier’ is good.” Thinking about what she said for a moment, she smiled. "Look up name? Good!" She was getting a little better at speech, trying to imitate what words he said and what she heard others saying...but it was hard. She had the words but not the meanings...and the intelligence not to use the words unless she knew what they meant.

The went back to talking about the birdie, and Karika devoured her entire breakfast...in one swallow. They could give the animal a fork, but they couldn't make her thoroughly chew her food. With a heavy gulp, she swallowed and went back to coloring. It was magnificent the way she gave attention to each stroke of color and detail. It was like she was giving new life to a deer that was on the page. She didn't even notice everything going on until she vaguely heard Jonathon's voice. “Ladies, I have many chores to attend to this morning. I shall soon have to take my leave.”

Even then, it took him physically calling her name to steel her away from her coloring. “Karika, I have work I must do this morning and it will take me several hours. I want you to stay here…near the mansion or in your room. I’ve brought many more of the books…like the one you were helping me with…that you can color in…or perhaps one of the other ladies will find you some additional clothing from the storeroom and help get you set up.” Looking up, she wondered at him. "Clothes?" She quieried, looking down at her greasy, grimy old Weapon X uniform that fit her like a glove.

Still he foraged onward, “I won’t be gone all day, just for the morning. This afternoon, if you’ve gotten some of the pages finished in your books, we’ll go for a walk in the forest and I’ll show you the barn, horses, and where I live. But…for that outing, you must try your best to control your anger and fear for a little while. You are safe here…no one on these grounds would ever harm you.” Looking over at Psyche for a brief moment, she just nodded. "Color more." She said, flipping to a new page which would be horribly difficult for even the most focused artist. The details of the drawing here intense, but Karika didn't seem to mind. She was all the more enthused by it.

"Bye Jonathon!" She called, not looking up. Karika had a new hobby and she was going to explore it to its fullest potential. Plus, she couldn't lie, she was very excited to see the horses! She had to finish some more coloring!

Her eyes settled on Logan and, with a warm smile, she moved in his direction. “Are you longing for solitude this morning or may I join you?” she asked, hoping he could tell that she would not be offended should he crave some time to himself

Looking up from his paper again, he offered a small smile to her, then noticed the mountain of food on her plate and chuckled softly as he readjusted his sitting position. Sitting up straighter and turning around to face her, he folded the newspaper down and placed it on the bench beside him.

"Absolutely," Logan replied with a gesture to the chair at the table only a foot or two away. Leaning forward, he asked, "Are you exceptionally hungry this mornin' or do ya' always eat like this?"

Moving from the bench to the chair beside her at the table, he brought his mug with him. His plate was set on the table there and he pushed it a few inches away, picking up the last remnants of the half pound of bacon he'd scoffed from the buffet and chewed on it as Jean started to dig into her own meal.

"So are ya' runnin' late, or... are you aware that yer wanted on the Whale to help with an inspection Scott's headin' up?" he asked her. Taking the opportunity straight off to inform her of her requested assignment and letting her make her own decision as to when to arrive there. "When yer around, the last thing I'm longin' for is... solitude," he answered with a crooked grin.

Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion (Open for All Participants)
Who: Psyche
With: JC and X-23
Where: Solarium
When: Mid-Morning

Psyche was watching the little girl at the table with a fair amount of confusion and wonder, there was something so strange and yet familiar about her that Psyche wasn't even sure how to react to her. "Karika mean soldier." She said looking at the both of them in turn. What did that mean? she wondered, the girl was a puzzle to her, but not an unpleasant one, Psyche found herself wanting to know more about her.

It was oddly disconcerting to arrive somewhere like this and find already at least three people that she would like to spend more time with and get to know better.

Her eyes drifted down to the page the girl was furiously colouring in, and a small wistful smile crossed her face, fading quickly as she realised that Jonathon was speaking to her again. She looked up from the page to meet his eyes again. There was something comforting about them and she knew why Karika stuck closely to him.

“He is a Blue and Gold Macaw…his species of parrot is native to South America although he was conceived and hatched here in the USA. The United States has banned the importation of wild birds for the pet trade.“Gryphon is a good bird.”
Jonathan laughed and gently stroked the bird’s wings, “You’re right, Gryphon is a good bird…most of the time.”

Pysche laughed softly at the bird and nodded to acknowledge Jonathon's description and explination. He was certainly quite beautiful. As the doctor went on to explain to Karika that he was leaving soon, she half listened, trying to ignore the disappoint she felt at the thought of him going.

She focused her attention instead on the other people entering the kitchen and moving on to the patio. The girl was right, there was entirely too many people around here, it concerned her that she would have to soon merge with the general populace of the Mansion, she wasn't sure how she'd do it.

...just for the morning. This afternoon, if you’ve gotten some of the pages finished in your books, we’ll go for a walk in the forest and I’ll show you the barn, horses, and where I live...

Psyche tuned back in to hear the end of Jonathon's explanation, her ears almost perking up at the mention of horses, it had been a year or two since she had last ridden, but she'd loved it, a small moment of pure joy. Brought back a lot of shadows of memories, but she still loved the beautiful creatures in a way that lead her to think she had ridden before her capture...

Looking back at the blonde doctor and his charge, she realised that she had no idea what to do now. Returning his smile, she leaned forwards a little to pick up her cup of tea and sat back to sip it, mulling on the fact that she had days stretching a head of her with nothing to do. Nothing that she had to do, only what she chose to. The thought completely terrified her. No commands, no instructions, no missions. It wasn't something she'd considered before, and it felt as though the floor had be pulled out from beneath her. This was what she'd wanted, wasn't it?

Feeling agitated, she stood up suddenly and walked away from the table and back again, pulling a hand through her hair, barely realising she was on her feet. "S-s-so.." she swallowed and started again, feeling her cheeks flush at the small stammer. "So what happens around here? What does everyone do?" she asked Jonathon, speaking carefully as she could and fixing him with slightly frantic golden eyes.

"I mean, how do they pass the time?" The years since her escape had been mainly spent on missions, preparing for them or recovering. Given the choice and freedom, she no longer knew what to do.

Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion (Open for All Participants)
Who: Jean
With: Logan
Where: Kitchen, window seat area
When: Sunday morning, breakfast

Taking Logan’s hint of a smile and movements as a tacit invitation, Jean settled at the closest table, arranging her plate, utensils and coffee mug precisely.

"Absolutely," Logan replied with a gesture to the chair at the table only a foot or two away. Leaning forward, he asked, "Are you exceptionally hungry this mornin' or do ya' always eat like this?"

With a wry look at her plate and then at his as he joined her at the table, she chuckled, “A little bit of both, actually. I have a pretty fast metabolism and if I don’t get in a good hearty breakfast I’m not pleasant to be around later in the day.” A glimmer of humor sparked in her eyes as she forked a nicely browned, crusty chunk of potato and ate it slowly with obvious relish. “Sunday morning breakfast is my favorite, though. It’s the one day I seem to be able to sit and really enjoy the act of eating. I detest having to bolt down food like I’m doing nothing more than filling a gas tank; I’ve had to do enough of that in med school and residency to last me for the remainder of my lifetime.”

Pausing to sip her coffee and let her companion get a word in, she smiled, thoroughly enjoying her morning. In retrospect she was quite glad that her stomach had convinced her sleepy brain to stay out of bed and tend to its needs first.

"So are ya' runnin' late, or... are you aware that yer wanted on the Whale to help with an inspection Scott's headin' up?" he asked her.

Jean’s head snapped up and she regarded Logan for a long moment before giving voice to a bark of laughter. “No, I wasn’t aware; thank you for telling me.” Smiling then, she raised a brow and continued, “What do these people think I am, a mind-reader? So much for my nice leisurely Sunday breakfast… what time was I expected to report for this inspection? Since you mention that I’m running late, I supposed I should forego both this feast and your equally delightful company and get my tush out to the Whale. I’m sorry that I disturbed your solitude only to have to rush off.”

"When yer around, the last thing I'm longin' for is... solitude," he answered with a crooked grin.

Her sigh at her perceived need to hurry through her breakfast was cut short as she looked back into his grinning face and smiled big and bright. “Why, Logan! I think that’s the nicest thing anyone has said to me in months.” Forking a bite of steak, she continued, “Since they didn’t see it as an urgent enough matter to bother informing me, I guess they can wait until I finish my… leisurely… Sunday breakfast before I report as not ordered.” With that, she again slowed her motions, determined to enjoy every moment of her morning savoring good food and excellent company.

With a wry look at her plate and then at his as he joined her at the table, she chuckled, “A little bit of both, actually. I have a pretty fast metabolism and if I don’t get in a good hearty breakfast I’m not pleasant to be around later in the day.”

"I find that hard to believe," Logan replied, his forearms resting on the table's edge, a very casual air about him. He gave her another crooked grin, his blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight coming through the large windows nearby.

A glimmer of humor sparked in her eyes as she forked a nicely browned, crusty chunk of potato and ate it slowly with obvious relish.

Logan grinned again, with an almost ironic expression on his face. "Well," he began, picking up his crumpled napkin to wipe the bacon greasiness from his fingers, "what I detest more, is missin' out on a meal if yer not quick enough to bolt it down." He was serious about that, but his expression remained light as he watched the redhead enjoying her meal.

"So are ya' runnin' late, or... are you aware that yer wanted on the Whale to help with an inspection Scott's headin' up?" he asked her.

Jean’s head snapped up and she regarded Logan for a long moment before giving voice to a bark of laughter. “No, I wasn’t aware; thank you for telling me.”

"Sure," he acknowledged as he sat back in his chair, still watching her as the fingers of his right hand played with the napkin; his left hand lay at ease on his thigh as he found great interest in watching her put away her meal.

Smiling then, [Jean] raised a brow and continued, “What do these people think I am, a mind-reader?"

Logan let out a silent breath of laughter; finding her sense of humor rather entertaining, then listened as she continued her thought.

"So much for my nice leisurely Sunday breakfast… what time was I expected to report for this inspection?

And again Logan chuckled silently, totally amused and bewitched by her light-hearted mood. He didn't realize it yet, but he couldn't stop grinning.

Then a strange inflection in a voice coming from the solarium caused his grin to disappear as his expression changed to one of curiosity and alertness. He leaned to the side a bit to get a look inside the other room to see the gal called Psyche stand up and pace a few feet away, only to turn back toward Dr. Chase's table as if agitated.

"Scuse me, Red," Logan begged her pardon as he slid his chair out, depositing the napkin on the table as he stepped away; his eyes glued on the brunette. He stepped up to the entryway and stood to one side; not hiding but not standing dead center of the opening either.

"S-s-so.." [Psyche] swallowed and started again, feeling her cheeks flush at the small stammer. "So what happens around here? What does everyone do?" she asked Jonathon, speaking carefully as she could and fixing him with slightly frantic golden eyes. "I mean, how do they pass the time?"

"Well," Logan spoke out, more to let her know he still had his eyes on her than to interrupt Dr. Chase's response, "first thing we do is enjoy a quiet Sunday mornin' breakfast..."

He stepped into the solarium, his eyes fixed on the "armed intruder" from last night. His demeanor was calm and quiet, but practically vibrated the air with his heightened state of alertness. He stopped a few feet away from her so as not to trigger a panic response; he knew what it felt like to be cornered, but he didn't know why this seemingly self-assured woman from last night was now behaving like a neurotic teen.

"If you can't control yerself an' keep calm... I suggest you vacate the breakfast area an' let these people enjoy a relaxin' meal... or ya' can take a deep breath an' sit back down," Logan grumbled low at her; his voice pitched with the seriousness of his warning. "After breakfast, you can go to yer room, out to the pool, tennis court, basketball court or just take a walk in the woods... up to you...ya' don't need any o' us tellin' you how to spend yer down time."

He held the girl's gaze, his lip was tensed just enough that anyone could tell he was holding back an outright snarl. His stance though was wide to ensure balance if she suddenly rushed him, his head was slightly lowered as his eyes stabbed at her from under an angry brow. Wolverine didn't like the peace disrupted, especially when peace was so hard for them to come by. He waited for her decision.

Wanda glanced at him and a smile nearly broke through the frown as the orange crayon hit him.

"What?" she screwed her face to make it look like she was not about to laugh.

The blue elf picked up the orange crayon by his tail, lofting it up in front of him momentarily for inspection. "Vhell, at least it wasn't food," he said, transferring the drawing implement to his hand where he set it on the counter.

"Anyvhay, I was thinking, back there on the island," at this his eyes blanched, and he waved his hands in front of him semi-frantically as if shielding himself from tentative blows: "Sensative subject coming up, please don't attack me! I'm only passing on information!"

He swallowed, and then went on. "Those rescue pods that Magneto and the others climbed into, back on that ship - they only have a 25 kilometer range, that's -" at this his eyes rolled back for a moment and his head tilted in thought " - 15 miles. So they had to land somewhere close by, and they gave up their flying base the Jonah's Whale entirely too easily to be expecting to use that again. They might still be on that island."

"I've - been learning how to use the vehicles on that thing, well, since I can't drive yet might as well learn how to fly, right?" he grinned.

"Well," Logan spoke out, more to let her know he still had his eyes on her than to interrupt Dr. Chase's response, "first thing we do is enjoy a quiet Sunday mornin' breakfast..."

Psyche's head snapped around, her whole demenaour changing as the man from yesterday entered the room, the one she remembered most clearly aside form Dr Chase. Becoming very still, she turned so that she was facing him almost straight on, eyes narrowing slightly at the dark haired man in front of her.

Anger simmered below the surface, but she stayed still, knowing that reacting to his words with anymore than words would only cause the situation to escalate. She had the sense to recognise the man had authority over her at the moment.

She nodded once, curtly to acknowledge him, keeping her eyes on him the whole time, feeling all the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. “Of course” Psyche said softly, with a light smirk, it was not submission exactly, her nature wouldn’t allow that, but an acknowledgment of ground.

Though the man riled her, he seemed to have the knack of putting her in her place already; she was relieved in a way as he had pulled her back to her senses. It was never a pretty sight when she became overly emotional. Things tended to fly around the room, and then there was the bleeding and the headaches, all in all not a great impression to make.

“ya' don't need any o' us tellin' you how to spend yer down time." Didn’t she? She knew deep down that she didn’t, but commands made it easier, simpler, it was what she was used to. Lifting her hand to push her hair behind her shoulder, she very deliberately walked to her seat and sat down, keeping her eyes on his the whole time “There. All calm now.” She said smiling pleasantly at him, her eyes remaining dark and proud in the face of his restrained snarl

Wanda only shrugged again at Kurt's admission though the smile did broaden a bit. It disappeared at the mention of Magneto however as she remembered her mission to find him.

"Well, I wouldn't know about that. Though if he's still on the island, maybe I'll go there and find him," she said with a grimace. Her eyes flashing sparks that seems to want mayhem.

OOC: If anyone has a problem with the way I'm describing their characters' scents, please let me know and I'll alter it. Nobody stinks, it's just a feral thin, lol.

Though Karika was not in any way, shape or form, comfortable with the others around her, she was starting to get used to it. The girl who was at the table with them wasn't threatening at all...in fact, her scent told otherwise. She smelled like bayberry with a hint of some kind of shampoo. It wasn't a bad smell by any means and rather...calming. Karika didn't bother with the woman...which was an excellent step in the right direction.

Watching Jonathon out of the corner of her eye, she also peeked at Juliana, who seemed nervous. "S-s-so.." "So what happens around here? What does everyone do?""I mean, how do they pass the time?" Karika cocked her head; why did this girl talk so funny? What was she hinting at? Looking down at her excellent picture, she took one of the other books and offered it, "This!" She said and looked on the floor for the crayons she had tossed before. Finding the orange one near the door, she bounded over to it and then gave it to Juliana. "Here." She said, looking quite proud of herself.

Going back to her drawing, she was noting that animalistic scent again. It smelled like nothing she had ever known, but very special indeed. He, and Karika was positive it was a he, smelled of male and a tinge of cigar smoke. As it drew closer, Karika felt her eyes lifting. "Well,""first thing we do is enjoy a quiet Sunday mornin' breakfast...""If you can't control yerself an' keep calm... I suggest you vacate the breakfast area an' let these people enjoy a relaxin' meal... or ya' can take a deep breath an' sit back down," "After breakfast, you can go to yer room, out to the pool, tennis court, basketball court or just take a walk in the woods... up to you...ya' don't need any o' us tellin' you how to spend yer down time." His voice was low and gravelly, it raised the hair on the back of Karika's arms and neck.

Immediately she felt herself standing up. She locked her eyes as she sniffed at him. He was...like her? No...he...couldn't be.

The tension was so high that she could almost cut it with the breakfast knife that lay on the table. Of course her adamantium could slice it...adamantium could cut diamond if she had the patience to sit there and saw at it. “There. All calm now.” Looking over at the girl, and gripping the brown crayon in her hand, she lowered herself back in the chair, eyes not leaving Wolverine. "Calm now." She repeated, but she did not dare look down until he either left or provoked her.

Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion (Open for All Participants)
Who: Story Telling/Pete Wisdom
Where: Arround the Mansion/Sleepy Willow Inn, Salem Centre.
When: 0710, Sunday morning
OOC: Since no-one got a chance to react to last nights new interruption. A second chance is given this morning when the news cuts across all radio and t.v. channels.

The Xavier Institue was quiet this morning. Not a lot was happening yet, being near enough to 7 a.m. Most people were asleep, except those who were used to getting up this early. A few people like the instructors were already about their business, though none knew what yet lay in store for them.

T.V's and radios played not too loudly in some parts of the mansion, a bit too loudly in others. At 7:10, all broadcasts were cut off, the face of news casters, or their voices over the radio cutting ionto the regular morning programming.

The face of the normal morning news team anchor man for channel 19 news cut into the morning stock report. His face was ashen and the look in his eyes shouted disbelief, he didn't really believe the news he was about to report could have happened.

"Good morning folks. This morning we appologize for cutting into your morning stock report, as our affiliates cut into other programs across the country. Todays news is dire indeed. Last night we brought to you the chilling tale of a security guard who survived an atack by the assassin that has been plaguing our fair way of life recently. With his co-opperation the F.B.I. and local law enforcment got a partial identification of the assassin."

A police sketch of a man dressed all in black, with a button down shirt tucked into dress slacks appears on the screen. A pair of black gloves covers his hands, and a black trench coat sits over his shirt. A black bacalava type mask covers his face except his eyes, which are concealed behind sunglasses.

"The authorities are officially reckgonzing this man as a mutant, thanks to the account given by the surviving security guard. His power appears to be related to heat or fire, as he created blades of thin air which cuaterized the wounds he inflicted with them. The security guard was in critical condition last night a Mercy General Hospital in Westchester County, New York. He was gaurded round the clock by trained member os the Westchester County S.W.A.T. Team."

The newscaster stops to take a drink from a glass of water on the desk. He takes a few moments after that to compose himself.

"This is where the news gets grim folks. This morning at 4 a.m. The entire 5 man S.W.A.T. unit which was guarding the lone survivor, was found dead along with the surviving guard. A nurse who was coming to change the guards bandages found all six of the rooms occupants dead. No signs of a struggle were evident. The bodies were reportedly found with cuaterized stab wounds to vital areas of the back, severing the spinal column and pircing the heart. It is believed that the assassin entered the room and killed all the occupants without them ever knowing he was there, until it was too late."

"The police chief and local F.B.I. director declined to comment."

The Sleepy Willow Motel in Salem Center was a run down dump, exactly the kind of place Peter wisdom liked to stay when on the job. No-one asked questions, and no-one snooped around, except ofcoarse for the girl, Miri, last night.

Peter turned off the news report and tossed the remote down. He was getting rusty. He sat of one of the two beds which occupied the room. Peter sat with his shirt off and a bandage circling his waist and upper right arm. He couldn't supress the chuckle that escaped him. "These bleedin' idots. They don' know what in the name of the Christ they're talkin' 'bout."

The news was so wrong it made him want to cry. No struggle? Of coarse there were no signs of one. There wouldn't be when the only two bullets that had been fired had lodge themselves in his upper arm and between two of his ribs. The silencers the officers had on their guns made it so no-one heard the gun shots, but that didn't change the facts.

He'd have to remove the bullets after he relocated though. He didn't have the time at the moment. He slowly rose from the bed to find a clean change of clothes. He would shower and pack up everything after he was certain he even something to wear.

Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion (Open for All Participants)
Where: Solarium
With: Logan, Psyche, Karika
When: Well after 0700, Sunday morning
Jonathan was saved from having to respond to Psyche's agitated request about the day's activities by the appearance of the same man that had responded to his intruder alert the evening before. During the man's...Logan, Jonathan thought his name was...exchange with Psyche, Chase kept a wary eye on Karika. He wanted to interrupt should the heightened emotional atmosphere set her off. For the moment, however, Karika seemed to be coping with the situation in her own way. Obviously offering the coloring book and crayons to Psyche was her way of 'helping' the older girl.

It was a positive step in the right direction, the offering to 'share'. Inwardly Jonathan smiled as Psyche returned to her seat with "All calm now."

Flashing a smile at the dark haired man, Jonathan stood, "Juliana, if you really need something to help occupy your time for a bit...perhaps you could supervise Karika this morning. She needs outfitted with new clothes and introduced to some of the basic feminine needs that I cannot address. There's a storeroom...almost a small store...here where you can get almost everything either of you would need." He paused for a moment, "If it isn't imposing on you that is?" His deep cultured voice ended the comment on a question. "When I return from exercising my horses...we could spend some time exploring the estate if you're amenable."

As he ended and waited for Juliana's response, he nodded in gratitude toward Logan, indicating his appreciation for the other man's intervention. While waiting for Psyche to process and respond to his request, Jonathan keep a watch on Karika as well. She seemed to like Juliana and to trust her...as much as she trusted anyone.

Offering his hand to the other man, Jonathan smiled, friendly curiosity shining in his dark blue eyes, "I don't think we have been properly introduced...I'm Dr. Jonathan Chase...Jonathan. I overheard your name yesterday...Logan isn't it?"

Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion (Open for All Participants)
Where: Kitchen
With: Jean, Pyro, Logan(?-don't know if he's returning or not)
When: After 0700 Sunday morning
Warren had stood as Logan excused himself and headed out to the solarium. Even after years of the X-Men being on stand down, instinct took over and he moved within range of the door...ready to back his old team leader up if needed. Instinct was also responsible for ruffling the feathers out on his wings and expanding them slightly in an attempt to add to his 'size' and make him appear more intimidating.

Warren nodded over at Jean, slanting her a brief glance before returning his attention to the events unfolding in the solarium. Only a few moments passed before the winged Mutant relaxed his 'on guard' stance. This time the upset seemed to be a tempest in a teacup and quickly subsided at Logan's calm but forceful presence.

Backing up, he perched on a stool at the end of the counter. Although he had sharper than normal hearing, he couldn't pick up what Chase was saying to the woman or to Logan. However, whatever it was seemed affable enough and while Jonathan tended to remain calm in every situation...Warren had seen the Brit deal with unruly students in the past. If he were smiling and making introductions then, for the moment, things were calm.

Warren slanted another quick smile at Jean, "So...how's the concussion, Legs?"

Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion (Open for All Participants)
Who: Jean
With: Logan and Warren
Where: A small table just off the kitchen area
When: Sunday 0720, breakfast

Jean had made good progress through her plate of food when she noticed that the grin had left Logan’s face and that his attention had been attracted by something happening in the solarium. Leaving his napkin on the table, he courteously asked for her to excuse him as he rose from his chair and moved to stand at the side of the doorway leading to the other room while he measured the situation. A mere moment later, he stepped into the solarium to deal with the disturbance.

Nodding her acknowledgement, Jean pushed her plate back and rose with a murmured, “I somehow knew a completely quiet breakfast wasn’t in my cards today.” Following Logan, she paused two paces behind him, listening to the exchange and ready to back him up should the need arise. From the corner of her eye she noticed Warren standing, feathers ruffled, wings arched, and taking a backup position slightly behind and to Logan’s other side.

As the “armed intruder” of the previous evening gathered her wits and resumed her seat, Jean noticed Jonathan introduce himself to Logan. She turned, with thoughts of returning to her breakfast only to stop as she caught sight of Warren giving her a smile.

Warren slanted another quick smile at Jean, "So...how's the concussion, Legs?"

“Much better today, thank you for asking. The sleep helped immensely.” A glance back showed her that Logan and Jonathan were still talking, so she turned back to Warren, taking in his relaxed state with a smile. “I take it that everything is alright with your family? Another false alarm?”

__________________________________________________

Following Logan, [Jean] paused two paces behind him, listening to the exchange and ready to back him up should the need arise. From the corner of her eye she noticed Warren standing, feathers ruffled, wings arched, and taking a backup position slightly behind and to Logan’s other side.

Logan was well-aware of his "back up crew" standing at the ready. That lent him a comforting feeling, which he hadn't felt for a while. There were few threats that he'd ever encountered that proved worthy of taking him out - in a permanently serious way - but it was always nice to know that someone had your back.

Jean's fragrant scent was so close she could've been piggy backing him and the sound of Warren's feathers ruffling softly let him know the winged one wasn't too far away either and alert to the goings on as Logan and Psyche pinned each other's gaze. He could smell the anger in her at being confronted, but... 'tough', he thought.

This was his home and she was a new arrival - an unknown factor - and security and safety of the mansion and its residents fell to him and Logan took that responsibility seriously. These new people had better learn that real quick. Wolverine had little tolerance for being challenged, especially within the boundaries of his own territory.

When she first arrived last evening, she'd gotten onto the estate without setting off the security systems... he still had to talk to Warren about that... and she was armed to the teeth. Her demeanor and attitude, then, told him that she was a soldier... either a soldier of fortune, perhaps self-taught in the ways of mercenaries, or... she was a professional. Either way, she should know better than to forget her place in the "chain of command". He warned her that he'd be keeping an eye on her... what did she expect?

Anger simmered below the surface, but [Psyche] stayed still, knowing that reacting to his words, with anymore than words, would only cause the situation to escalate. She had the sense to recognise the man had authority over her....

She nodded once, curtly to acknowledge him, keeping her eyes on him the whole time, feeling all the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. “Of course,” Psyche said softly, with a light smirk; it was not submission exactly, her nature wouldn’t allow that, but an acknowledgment of ground.

He didn't change his stance or posture, he just kept his eyes on her... literally. She would either take his intervening as an excuse to rumble or she would see it for what it was; one, an overt attempt to keep control and assure the others present that they were not without protection at all times... and two, to give her something to focus on and bring her back to her own control. He knew what it was like to feel yourself lose control, it wasn't pretty and it was humiliating.

Immediately [Karika] felt herself standing up. She locked her eyes as she sniffed at [Wolverine].

Without turning his head away from the first female, Logan's eyes drew toward the second brunette who now stood from her seat and proceeded to sniff at him. His eyes narrowed at her and a very soft, almost inaudible growl rumbled in his chest... warning her to back down. This was not the best moment to try and distract his attention. Wolverine wasn't sure yet, whether the two femmes were working in tandem or if it was just a matter of a young pup not having the where with all to realize her timing was really poor.

Though the man riled her, he seemed to have the knack of putting [Psyche] in her place already; she was relieved in a way as he had pulled her back to her senses. It was never a pretty sight when she became overly emotional.

[Psyche] knew deep down that she didn’t need others to tell her how to spend her downtime, but commands made it easier, simpler; it was what she was used to. Lifting her hand to push her hair behind her shoulder, she very deliberately walked to her seat and sat down, keeping her eyes on his the whole time “There. All calm now.” She said smiling pleasantly at him, her eyes remaining dark and proud in the face of his restrained snarl.

Once she was seated and the inflection of her voice told him that she was basically under her own control again, Logan adjusted his stance; bringing his feet closer together and straightening his shoulders.

“There. All calm now.” Looking over at the girl, and gripping the brown crayon in her hand, [Karika] lowered herself back in the chair, eyes not leaving Wolverine. "Calm now," she repeated, but she did not dare look down until he either left or provoked her.

Logan stared at the younger of the two, his head tilted slightly as he considered her. He didn't know what to make of her... except that she made him feel very uncomfortable, like a dream figure he couldn't ditch even when he was awake. His discomfort with her was on a totally different level than his wariness over Psyche. His eyes went from one to the other, contemplating each one's presence here, until motion from the other side of the table pulled his eyes to the man with them.

Flashing a smile at the dark haired man, Jonathan stood up. "Juliana, if you really need something to help occupy your time for a bit...perhaps you could supervise Karika this morning. She needs outfitted with new clothes and introduced to some of the basic feminine needs that I cannot address. There's a storeroom...

Logan listened with half an ear as the man offered to give Psyche something to do, as she had asked for guidance in that arena. His eyes, however, remained on the younger gal; his expression almost too neutral, as if his thoughts were somewhere far away for a moment.

As the “armed intruder” of the previous evening gathered her wits and resumed her seat, Jean noticed Jonathan introduce himself to Logan.

As [Chase] ended and waited for Juliana's response, he nodded in gratitude toward Logan, indicating his appreciation for the other man's intervention.... Offering his hand to the other man, Jonathan smiled, friendly curiosity shining in his dark blue eyes, "I don't think we have been properly introduced...I'm Dr. Jonathan Chase...Jonathan. I overheard your name yesterday... Logan isn't it?"

As the man turned his attention toward him, Logan was pulled back to the here and now, eyes glued to the other man's actions - the nod, then a proffered hand extended in polite introduction. Logan stared at the hand for a moment, then raised his eyes to see the man... Jonathan... smiling at him as he introduced himself.

Logan pulled himself together and gave Chase his full attention. Extending his own hand to grasp the other firmly, he answered, "Yeh, that's right." Looking down at the two seated females, Logan then released Chase's hand and asked, "They with you?"

Re: Kitchen, Solarium/ Sunday 0800
Who: Pyro
With: Wolverine, Angel, Jean nearby, eventually.
When: Morning
Where: Mansion Kitchen
OOC: Oh my goodness, what happened, did XRoads have some sort of posting heaps competition while I wasn‘t around? LOL. Please forgive me if I have either left anyone out, or the below post seems behind, or out of place. I think I have managed to slide Pyro back in okay.

Well, he was relieved that the man hadn’t said anything about interrupting him, and didn’t seem annoyed by his presence, the excitement of possibly getting these things made depicted in the tone of his voice as he showed the feral his plans, explaining them as he went.

Quote:
"Ya' might wanna bring that li'l contraption to Hank's attention. He's the egghead... he's the brains of this outfit. If it can be done, an' I don't see why it can't be, he'd be the one to figure it out. All that techno babble is total greek to me, but if it's supplies or components he needs, that I can do." Then he shrugged and added, "Give it a spin, what can ya' lose?"
”Hmm, yeah, good point. Just thought I’d still ask one of you guys first. Thanks, Logan, I’ll be sure to come show you how they work once they’re made,” he said, with a grin, and a wave goodbye, but was suddenly stopped by the entrance of one Warren Worthington III, a man the flame manipulator looked up to a lot.

"Good morning, Logan, Pyro. Any news about the events at the concert that has every police officer in Salem Centre parked on Graymalkin Lane?" John almost choked on nothing, the sound more reminiscent of a cough, at the mention of the concert, eyes widening a little. Did they know what Shadowcat, Psylocke, and he had done to get all those people off the grounds, which now, by the looks of things outside, something he’d noticed when he’d glanced out one of the windows on the way to the kitchen, their little display of ‘angelic’ power had caused more of a stir than he ever first thought it would. “I, um, well, yeah, I could tell you a few things about it,” John said, eyes on the two older men. He may have been in his mid twenties, but he still felt like a kid around the original X-Men and teachers sometimes. “We, ah, well, Kitty, Betsy, and me might have had something to do with the, ah, attention it seems to be getting out there right now.”

Quote:
Plate loaded and coffee mug balanced precariously, she looked around for company. Her eyes settled on Logan and, with a warm smile, she moved in his direction. “Are you longing for solitude this morning or may I join you?” she asked, hoping he could tell that she would not be offended should he crave some time to himself.
At the entrance of Jean, Pyro gave her a smile of acknowledgement, and then realised he probably wouldn’t get any further answers or quips from Logan, as he moved off a little ways to enjoy the redhead’s company, of which John couldn’t blame him for, he’d always had a crush on Jean when he was younger.

Blue eyes turned to focus completely on Angel, “I think we’ve lost him,” he said, referring to Logan, and grinning, just before Warren stood and walked after the man, attention on the happenings in the solarium for a bit, before he backtracked and began talking to Jean. John was left thinking maybe he’d lost the winged one too, shrugging, and waiting to see if the man, and perhaps even Jean, would address him again.

If not, then he had wrist flame thrower sketches to show a certain blue furred doctor.

Summary: Pyro sees Logan’s point, but before he can head off to find Hank, he is interrupted by the entrance of Angel, telling him he knows a bit about the concert. When Logan’s attentions is taken away by Jean, John focuses on Angel, before his attention too, is taken by… well… lol… Jean.

OOC: Er, who can I get to play Beast later, or can I temp him for this? Also, because of Jean’s different background here, if it’s not possible for John to have had a crush on her when he was younger, please let me know. Thankies.

Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion (Open for All Participants)
Who: Psyche
Where: Solarium
When: Mid-Morning
With: Logan, Jonathon, Karika.
OOC: *deep breath* Tell me if I miss anyone out.

"This!" She said and looked on the floor for the crayons she had tossed before. Finding the orange one near the door, she bounded over to it and then gave it to Juliana. "Here." She said, looking quite proud of herself.

Psyche laughed, the tension leaving her body and her eyes lightening as she took the crayon and the book from the young girl "Thank you" she said, smiling at the Karika and setting the book down on the table . As she watched the young girl, she noticed the change that came over her as the girl locked eyes with Logan, and Psyche wondered why that was, perhaps they had met before, but if that was the case why didn't they acknowledge each other?

Keeping an eye on the other two, she turned back to Jonathon as he spoke.

Jonathan stood, "Juliana, if you really need something to help occupy your time for a bit...perhaps you could supervise Karika this morning. She needs outfitted with new clothes and introduced to some of the basic feminine needs that I cannot address. There's a storeroom...almost a small store...here where you can get almost everything either of you would need." He paused for a moment, "If it isn't imposing on you that is?"

She frowned slightly, surprised by what he had said. Why, considering all the suspicion surronding her, would he let her look after Karika? Was it some kind of test? she wondered as she looked from one man to the other before nodding "Of course, that would be...nice" she replied, looking over at Karika to see how she would react to the suggestion. Pushing her suspicions to the back of her mind, so they were gone, but not forgotten, she replied to Jonathon's offer.

"When I return from exercising my horses...we could spend some time exploring the estate if you're amenable."

"Sure, I'd like to get to know this place a bit better. Thanks" she said, grateful for the offer. She watched as the two men introduced themselves. It confused her a little bit, perhaps one of them had only just arrived at the Mansion, but judging from the way they both acted, with the same kind of authority, it didn't seem that way.

Looking down at the two seated females, Logan then released Chase's hand and asked, "They with you?"

Hearing Logan's question, and even though it wasn't directed at her, she tilted her head up a little bit to reply to him. "Actually, I kind of crashed his breakfast, a bit like yesterday" she said with an aplogetic smile "Which I have yet to apologise for, so.." she said, looking at Karika, Logan and Jonathon, trying to force out words that didn't exactly come easily to her.

"..I'm sorry for disrupting things around here. I haven't been around twenty four hours, and I've managed to disturpt the peace twice. I'm not used to this kind of thing, not that it's really much of an excuse, that's not what I'm trying to do. But you have my word that I will try my best to keep my head down and get on with things quietly." She startled even herself by the length of her little speech, she had only meant to apologise and leave it at that.

For something to do, she moved over nearer to Karika, taking the colouring book and crayon with her. "That said, I think we should forgo the group hug for now" she said with a light smirk, and then turned her attention to Karika "Now, as it seemd we'll be spending the morning together, perhaps you can help me colour this in" she offered, not used to dealing with children, but taking this as a logical place to begin with the young girl.

Who: Emma Frost
Where: The Mansion
When: Sunday Morning.

Emma Frost was an early riser, and this morning was no exception. She walked from her bathroom, a towel wrapped around her curvaceous form as she ran a wide toothed comb through long wet hair. She sat at her dressing table, breathing a breath of sweet morning air that breezed through her open window, feeling delighted to be back at the Mansion.

She flicked on her TV, putting it on mute as she plugged in her hair dryer and began drying her hair. She was almost done when the programme she was watching was interrupted by a breaking news story. Emma qucikly put down her dryer and picked up the TV remote, taking it off mute so she could hear the broadcast.

"...The authorities are officially reckgonzing this man as a mutant, thanks to the account given by the surviving security guard. His power appears to be related to heat or fire, as he created blades of thin air which cuaterized the wounds he inflicted with them..."

Her blue eyes widened with amazment the idea clicked. "Peter Wisdom" she said softly, the young man from last night and the information James had given her all made sense. Was she jumping to conculsions? No...it was all too obvious. "You have been up to mischief"

"Charles, we have a problem. I will be with you as quickly as I can get dressed." she spoke directly into the Professors mind, giving him no indication of what she would be discussing but her tone giving no doubt of the seriouness of the message. "Turn on your TV as soon as you get a chance, I think we will need to assemble a team."

Even as she did this, she was pulling on a pencil skirt and blouse, pushing feet into stilletos and quickly applying some make-up. Emergency aside, she would always look good and well presented, Emma thought with a quick smile as she made her way out of her bedroom door.

Re: 0700 +/- In the Mansion (Open for All Participants)
Who: X-23 with JC, Psyche, Wolverine, (Maybe) Jean
Where: Solarium
When: Mid-Morning
What: Breakfast

Karika knew Jonathon was talking about her when he adressed Psyche even though she didn't look up. She was still sniffing the air, wondering about the hairy man before her...he smelled...different than anyone else she had met here. "Juliana, if you really need something to help occupy your time for a bit...perhaps you could supervise Karika this morning. She needs outfitted with new clothes and introduced to some of the basic feminine needs that I cannot address. There's a storeroom...almost a small store...here where you can get almost everything either of you would need."

Looking over at him, Karika just started. "Femi..." She tried to pronounce the word but failed misterably. What did he want her to do? And what in the world did that scary word mean? Was that some kind of training? But then, there were new clothes involved and...OH! A new training uniform! Of course. "New clothes!" She said with a smile, and nodded her head. They were going to get her another bodysuit. The one she wore was rather small, the polished 'X' on her breast was tarnished and the whole suit was rather greasy from her wiping her little hands on it.

And so it went, introductions. "I don't think we have been properly introduced...I'm Dr. Jonathan Chase...Jonathan. I overheard your name yesterday...Logan isn't it?" Just by listening in, while she was coloring, she found out the man's name was Logan. Jonathon didn't seem to be afraid...so Karika didn't let those feelings creep up on her either. But when he growled at her, she growled back. The growl rumbled from deep in her throat, but at a higher level than Wolverine's. Her voice was naturally higher. She didn't mean to threaten, no that was a different kind of growl, hers was merely a response to him.

She imitated. She watched. And she listened. It was how she was going to survive in this jungle. "They with you?" Logan had asked. "Karika with Jonathon." She answered, pointing to herself and then to him. Finishing up the picture with a flourish of the blue crayon, she held it up. "Jonathon! Look!" She said, waving it around. But she did not know how to mark it...she couldn't write her name. Leaning down, she made three little scratch marks with his finger and ripped the paper from the coloring book.

Bounding over to Jonathon, she handed him the picture, "Here! You." She said, trying to tell him the picture was for him. Then, bounding back, she started another one...this one of something she had never seen before and couldn't pronounce ever. This coloring book was of Dinosaurs...and bones! Karika understood bones. But she didn't know what color that dinosaurs were...and became flustered. "No!" She said, tossing it aside so it smacked against the ground. Picking up the next one, she found, much to her delight, that it was a coloring book of puppies.

Karika liked puppies. Taking the brown crayon again, she went to work, oblivious to the others around her.
