i need a miracle worker!! help!!
Hi, ive tried asking this question on the official sim site many times so now only you can save me!! Ive just been reinstalling all of my sims games on a new computer (with xp) and when installing hot date it got to 1% then came up with this message:-

Component: expansion pack 2
file group: expansion pack 2
file: e\setup\data2.cab
error: data error (cyclic redundancy check)

Can anybody tell me what this means and how to fix it!? i cant live without the game!!

correct order?
Are you installing the expansions in the correct order? I believe:

The Sims
Livin Large
House Party
Hot Date

If you have any other expansions, Aspyr's website says you should install them in the order they were released.

I was going to ask the same thing... for Hot Date you need the others, but then I don't know if you do. I would reinstall all of them in this order:

Sims
Living Large
House Party
Hot Date
Vacation
Unleashed
Super Star

So the error message is referring to House Party (exp. pack 2).

HELP ME TOO
I had the same problem, it cant find data2.cab, but i dont have house party, what do I do?

Same problem...almost...
Im having a very very similar problem. Im reinstalling all my sims games on my newly formatted/upgraded computer with the newest being deluxe. I was proceding to reinstall them all and I got a little ways through hot date installation and got the same message except the component and file group said "UIGraphics". Make any sense? Please someone help us! :(
