looking for answers
hi, im new, ive had health problems for over a year and dont seem to be getting anywhere with them. my symptoms are lower abdomen pain, chronic lower back pain, loose stools, nausea and lethargy. I was told by gps that i had ibs but no medication worked, i even was put on a wheat and dairy free diet but that was no help. finally i was refferred to hospital and tested for crohns disease as my mum has it and my symptoms were similar. but my blooods came back normal and colonoscopy was normal except for a small ployp. the consultaant wants to discharge me in 3 months, i have no medication or answers, its really getting me down.
Im at university and its affecting my attendance and work because im not sleeping the pain is so bad, and i get so tired from it. especially the back pain. its also putting me off eating so i dont get pain, which i know is bad as i used to have an eating disorder.
Ive been tested for crhons disease, ceoliac disease, ibd, every std possible including pelvic inflamatory disease.
anyone have any idea what it could be, im realy getting desperate now.
I have pain everyday too Carrie. I take 4 pain pills every single day. I pray God will help you and you may find what is causing you pain. I am still looking to. God bless you. I hope you find out something real soon. I feel so deeply for you.

Umm..yes..
Anyway.
Which doctors have you been to? I assuem the GI (GE?) and all that..have you seen a neurologist? I know most of my stomach symptoms come from neurological problems. Your nerves control crazy things you didn't even know about actually. Good luck, keep me updated.

Carrie
I am going thru the exact same thing right now. I agree with the idea of loooking into motility tsting or neurological testing. It's probably a functional bowel problem. Go to my web page tru the link in the welcome sign and you can read about motility disorders. Thats what I have had in the past. I was on IV nutrition for 7 years cause my stomach was paralyzed, now, since they cant seem to find anything else they think this severe llower abdominal and lower back pain with attacks of diarreah is a new twist on my motility disease. If you are having a lot of trouble eating you might want to supplemant with ensure or some other liquid meal supplement. Other than that try sticking to lots of liquids, soup, jello. You can probably get protein powder to add to them at a health food store or a vitamin shop. Avoid fat for sure. Make milkshakes with lowfat ice cream and add something like Carnation Instant Breakfast to it. If your pain calms down some on the liquids add in some soft foods, low fat cottage cheese, pudding, mashhed potatoes, baby food fruits, make fruit smoothies, or get a juicer to get the nutrition in a way that is easier on your stomach. See what you can add till your pain starts to creep up..then cut it back a bit. Just make sure that what you are left with is balanced and giving you enough to live on. Hang in there

Re: looking for answers
thankyou all for the help.
At the moment the back pain is far worse than the stomach problems. I also have really painful joints in my arms, hands and legs now.
Im due to see my gp again soon so im going to mention it all to him.

hang in there Carrie. Unfortunately sometimes there is a lot doctors just can't figure out. Have you been to a gynecologist yet? I know you are having what seems like only GI symptoms but sometime it coould be caused by a gyn issue...do your symptoms seem to get better or worse with your cycle? Do get too discourages if you don't get an answer right away. Trust yourself and keep searching. You know your body best and only you can advocate for yourself. So keep speaking up and keep looking for an answer till you get one.
Keep me up to date.
