I've been thinking of beta testing, but I was wondering, for how long is it free except for s & h? At what point do they release it to everyone?

The beta testers sort of have a head start on developing their skills, money, etc. It is very hard and very complicated. So when you get there and see how everyone has these cool places (clubs, cafes, houses, etc.) you will feel really crappy about having to start from scratch. So yeah, yell at them

It came. Two days ago. I've been able to play ONCE.
I yelled at them. Online though, so no pictures. My mum said it's probably a good thing that I can't get there in person easily, her specific words were "I think that would qualify as not guilty by reason of mental defect........."

I heard by some ppl who have TSO pre-ordered, that the release date has been pushed up to Dec 3rd .. one moment...AHAHHHHaaaaaaaaHHHHnOnOnOnRah...Yes, that's what I heard

I want it, but I'm proud of Maxis for spending more time on a game. HOPEFULLY there won't be minor glitches in this game...Does anyone know if it's too late to order the TSO playtest? Since they're pushing the date, I'd like to see what I'm so eager into buying. Thanks!!

Really? About the realease for Dec 1st? Because I got a beta test offer but wasn't going to do it because there were only 2 weeks left which left only one to play in but now I hope to order my beta test tonight!
As far as I know you still can. You can also d/l it from Fileplanet. If you live in USA it would be $2 more (because I believe it's $5 for your disk, and 6.95$ for the FilePlanet sub) but you'd get it NOW. Warning: LARGE FILE. Do not attempt to d/l with dialup.
Other I hear people are getting them as quickly as 3-4 days. Mine came in 13 days, but I live far far away.

Mine took about 2 weeks to order. I am glad that they pushed it back because it was/is not ready. Especially lag time issues. Is everyone buying it?

I don't know what I'll be getting myself into, but I am definitley going to buy it, just like every other EP ever made..
It sounds like fun mixed with annoying, perfect for a week of entertainment! I hope you playtesters are having a good time by the way

i am definitely going to make the buy. there's no question there's going to be some strengths and weaknesses in the beta/game etc. but hell this thing has a chance at being something really great. something revolutionary. and we can be a part of it. or we could end up having bought an edsel. but at least we'll have tried. that's enough for me.
