I think that quote is so appropriate. When I was younger I was this scared little girl who was so afraid of what everyone thought of her. I'm happy to say that college straightened me out. Now I go through life doing the best for me and feeling the best I can about myself. It's not that I don't care what people think. It's more like I don't let the opinions of others affect the way I see myself. Does that make sense?

I am with you all the way. I think it is especially tough for teenage girls. I remember being in my teens and trying so hard to fit in. That was the worst time for my self-esteem.

I don't ever really recall feeling overly inferior to anybody... I guess I had to figure myself out at an early age, I never really compared myself to anybody else, to me it was a moot point. I'm me, and not anybody else.
Sure, there are times when my esteem has dropped... but hasn't everybody's at one point in their life?

PB, anyone who does that to you needs to go "buh bye." I was really upset a great deal when I was a teenager, but boy, my college years really made up for that. I think there comes a point in our lives, when we need to really allow ourselves the freedom to enjoy who we are. Or perhpas I am really insane at the moment because of the wedding. Not sure, but it does sound great right now

Ditto Sabinka about freedom. I was very repressed when I was younger. I didn't allow myself to explore new things and to even explore my self. I was so busy trying to fit into the mold. I am so glad that I went to college because in a way I grew up.
Zelciia, any guy that compares you to another girl deserves to be kicked out.

The only time I can think of when a guy has compared me to another girl was the other month. In my Graphic Design class, my friend was feeling really down and said no-one would invite her to the ball we are having soon. So, I stuck my sorry little nose in and asked this guy (who I incidentally have a crush on BTW!) and asked him if he thought she was pretty. He said.....'Well, I don't mean to be insulting but if you just stick a bit of toilet tissue down your bra then you will be fine. This doesnt apply to you by the way.'. Needless to say, she hated him for a while and I love him even more!

wanted to add my two cents on this topic.
I was like you pastababe. I came from a divorced family and I was surrounded my kids that had the nicer things in life. I was always trying to fit in and trying so hard to be like them. I was always worried that they would not liked me or think that I was poor. I felt I was inferior to them.
I now realized that that wasn't me and now that I am older, a little wiser; I had wasted my time worrying if they liked me, or if I was good enough to fit in with the "in" crowd.
Now that I have graduated from school and have a good decent job, I don't feel that way anymore or will I ever make someone feel inferior to me. I have been down that road and I will not subject someone to that feeling.

I guess the growing up stages were the worst. Coz you were still trying to find your identity and stuff.
Anyway, everytime I'd feel inferior or threatened, I'd recall your sig, bluebearies. After recalling it, somehow it makes me feel betta.
I kinda somehow "saw the light" when I first read your sig.
So in some way, you kinda saved me! Thanks!

I'm glad my signature made you feel better but I don't want to take the credit of saving you. You are your own person and what you do with your life will either make you a better person or not. It is all on you. Just don't let anyone bring you down.
